Craig Robinson Will Serenade You

Here's a new video Craig Robinson made for Funny or Die, in which he plays the piano and sings a seductive song, which is how I'm assuming he'll be spending all of his time these days now that The Office is ending.

Black Simon & Garfunkel Return to Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon welcomed back Black Simon & Garfunkel to his show last night, and the duo performed a tender, refined cover of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's "Thrift Shop." Black Simon & Garfunkel are played by Questlove and "Captain" Kirk Douglas from The Roots, and for some reason, they haven't started touring with this side project yet.

Tenacious D Rocks Out on 'Conan'

Here's Tenacious D (Jack Black and Kyle Gass) on Conan last night, belting out a song called "Rock is Dead" off their latest album Rize of the Fenix If you're wondering whether they get the old "Johnny Carson invite over to the desk" from Conan after their performance, you'll have to hit the jump to find out.

Paul F. Tompkins and Maya Rudolph Cover Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

Here's another great video from Paul F. Tompkins's personal vault from his long-running live variety show, The Paul F. Tompkins Show. It's him and Maya Rudolph covering Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros' song "Home" back in 2011. Tompkins is two for two with these after the excellent cover of Adele's "Skyfall" he dropped late last year.  Somebody give this guy a TV variety show already.

Dana Carvey Sings Jay Leno a Song About Jay Leno

Here's Dana Carvey on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night, playing guitar and singing "The Ballad of Jay Leno" for the host. Just don't clap along with him. I know it's only video, but it might still throw him off.

There's a Website and Free EP for Fred Armisen's "History of Punk" Character Ian Rubbish

IanRubbish.com, a website for Fred Armisen's punk rock character Ian Rubbish (of Ian Rubbish & the Bizarros) sprang up today. The character, a '70s punk rock frontman with a soft spot for "Iron Lady" Margaret Thatcher, debuted in a sketch called "History of Punk" (embedded below) from SNL's Vince Vaughn episode earlier this month. The website features photos of Ian Rubbish, an album cover, and a Best of Ian Rubbish EP composed of four complete downloadable songs – "Maggie Thatcher," "Hey Policeman!," "Living in the Gutter," and "Sweet Iron Lady." The songs are actually pretty amazing and a nice tribute to first wave English punk while standing on their [...]

Watch Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake Sing Toto's "Africa" as Summer Camp Kids

Here's a sketch from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night, the fourth night in Justin Timberlake's one-week residency at the show, which concludes tonight – unless Timberlake just wants to hang out on this show every night from now on.

Watch Fred Armisen Cover TLC's "Waterfalls"

Fred Armisen played New York's Bowery Ballroom earlier this week, and he brought a lot of guests with him, including Leigh Nash (Sixpence None the Richer), Tim Harrington (Les Savy Fav), Marnie Stern, Michael Lerner (Telekinesis), James McNew (Yo La Tengo), and Matthew Caws (Nada Surf). Here they are covering the TLC classic "Waterfalls," which is the only responsible thing to do when you have this assemblance of musical talent. (via Paste)

Tim Heidecker's Fake Bob Dylan Song Sounds Pretty Real

Here's "Running Out the Clock," a fake Bob Dylan song that Tim Heidecker of Tim & Eric fame released in advance of Bob Dylan's fake performance at the Super Bowl halftime show, which is not a real thing that will happen this Sunday. I would actually watch the Super Bowl halftime show this year, though, if Tim Heidecker was planning on charging the stage and grabbing the mic from Beyonce so he could sing this song as Bob Dylan.

Watch Paul F. Tompkins Sing "Skyfall" with a Full Band

Here's Paul F. Tompkins singing Adele's theme from the James Bond movie Skyfall with a full band backing him up. It's a spectacular performance from the final Paul F. Tompkins Show of 2012, his monthly variety show at the L.A. nightclub Largo. Tompkins is taking a little break from The Paul F. Tompkins Show, but he's promised via Tumblr to share more cool stuff from his personal video archive in the new year and we all know Tumblr promises can't be broken.

Watch Fall Out Boy Do a Weird Spinal Tap Tribute on 'Conan' with Harry Shearer

Here's that band Fall Out Boy's performance on Conan last night, which was a half-baked homage to Spinal Tap, complete with an appearance by Harry Shearer. It's basically just Fall Out Boy going about a usual performance while Spinal Tap stuff happens in the background.

Here's an interview with Fall Out Boy and Harry Shearer for Conan's website. I swear it's the last Fall Out Boy interview I'll ever post here unless Louis C.K. like becomes their drummer or something:

Watch Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally Rap About Smelly Dicks

Here's Megan Mullally performing a cover of rapper Riskay's "Smell Yo Dick" with her musical duo "Nancy and Beth" (a.k.a. Mullally and Friday Night Lights actress Stephanie Hunt) at the Largo in Los Angeles, featuring a surprise cameo from Mullally's husband and frequent co-star Nick Offerman. Rapping about dicks is the furthest thing from playing Ron Swanson Nick Offerman has ever done.

Fred Armisen and Other Comedy/Music People Discuss the Intersection of Comedy and Music

"Comedy has run alongside rock and indie rock for a long time. John Lennon was funny, so were David Bowie, Ween, Lou Reed, and Devo. The Clash even wrote hilarious liner notes for Sandinista. I have found that even the most serious of bands have had their own inside jokes."

- Fred Armisen to Fast Company in an excellent piece on the intersection of comedy and rock that features quotes from Marc Maron, Tom Scharpling, Aimee Mann, Ben Gibbard, and, best of all, an awesome infographic.

Eric Andre's List of Band Names Is Spectacular

Comedian Eric Andre has a website — ericsbandnames.com — where he's listed 300+ really funny band names he's come up with. I looked through the list to try to pick a favorite, but it's a three-way tie between "Alien vs Predator vs Brown vs The Board of Education," "World War 33 1/3," and "Some of the Best White People You've Ever Met."
