White House Responds to Petition Requesting to Cancel 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

Back in November, a petition calling for the cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel Live reached 100,000 signatures, requiring the Obama administration to comment on an October "Kids' Table" segment in which Kimmel asks a group of children to comment on the $1.3 trillion debt to China and one of the kids responds with the suggestion "Kill everyone in China!" In a response titled "What We Have to Say About Jimmy Kimmel" posted late last week, the White House had this to say on the controversy:

The parties involved have already apologized independently. Jimmy Kimmel has apologized on-air, and issued a written apology. ABC has removed the skit from [...]

Fancy Film Festivalgoers Disappointed By The Muppets' Cheerfulness

Grumbles were heard throughout Georgia last Friday when the "Director's Choice" at the Savannah Film Festival turned out to be The Muppets. Reactions spanned the spectrum of snootery, ranging from “I wanted something deep and artsy — I didn’t fly all the way down here for this," to “My favorite films at this festival were Inuk, about an abused Greenlandic teenager, and We Need to Talk About Kevin, about a budding psychopath. By comparison, I was just bored by the idea of The Muppets.” Well, la di curse-wording da! Still, though, maybe the Muppets folks need to calm down a little bit with the promotion. We still [...]

Watch a Pastor Flip Out Over a Very Satanic 'Wonder Showzen' Episode

Yesterday a YouTube clip surfaced of a pastor named Daniel Castle raging out over an episode of John Lee and Vernon Chatman's delightfully bizarre children's show spoof Wonder Showzen, which aired on MTV2 from 2005-2006, and it's gloriously entertaining. Considering Christians eat God's body every Sunday, I'm not sure why the concept of Whitey's Gobtastic God Sauce would be so offensive. [via Uproxx]

OK, Let's Not Go Looking For Reasons to Be Offended by Tracy Morgan Now

Tracy Morgan has wrapped up his tour of atonement after his homophobic rant, and he returned to the stage in New York last week. And wouldn't you know it, he said something that isn't politically correct! And now people are trying to get him to apologize again.

He said "Don't ever mess with women who have retarded kids. Them young retarded males is strong. They're strong like chimps." He later talked about dating a "a girl he described as 'a cripple' with a prosthetic arm, a mechanical larynx and a portable dialysis machine."

Cue the outrage!

Anthony Jeselnik, Louis CK, and the Shifting Definition of "Offensive" Comedy

Just as the news broke on Monday that sociopathic dreamboat Anthony Jeselnik’s Comedy Central show The Jeselnik Offensive was canceled (to no small amount of glee from certain New Zealanders), Huffington Post Live released a video interview with Artie Lange, where the recently sober comic addresses his past use of the word “faggot” and other offensive slurs. “Times have changed, comedy has changed,” Lange says. “We live in a more enlightened time where you should think twice before you speak, because we’re talking about people.” While Lange was only referring to himself, it was a very timely comment for Jeselnik, who has built a career out of manufacturing [...]

Very Smart People Think The Onion's Article on Planned Parenthood's Abortionplex Is Real

Today, The Onion as a wonderful piece of satire about Planned Parenthood's new $8 billion Abortionplex, which promises to make abortions easy, breezy and fun. It essentially takes pro-life hysteria to an insane extreme, and the result is some sort of right-wing fever dream. Unfortunately, it was a little too subtle for some people on Facebook.
