Tina Fey Doesn't Want to Take Over 'SNL' When Lorne Michaels Leaves

Lorne Michaels's retirement is still a long way away, but one can't help but wonder who's going to get his high-profile job as SNL's head honcho when he does leave. Tina Fey seems like she'd be a frontrunner for the gig, having spent seven seasons as the show's head writer, but when asked about taking the job by a Huffington Post reporter, Fey didn't have any interest in it. "I feel like SNL is so defined by Lorne's taste and his sensibility," Fey responded. "That's why any time people have tried to imitate the format and make their own version of it, you'll notice it never really quite happens. And I think [...]

Replacement 'Daily Show' Correspondent Patrick Stewart Is Better at Being John Oliver than John Oliver Is

It just so happens that the NFL referee strike is coinciding with a Daily Show correspondents strike, but, unlike the replacement refs, who aren't doing a great job (I'm not a sports fan, but I think I'm right on this), replacement correspondent Patrick Stewart is filling in for striker John Oliver and knocking it out of the park (different sport, I know). Patrick Stewart is such a superior John Oliver that I wouldn't be surprised if John Oliver awakes to find he's no longer needed on his podcast The Bugle or NBC's Community either.

Her Community co-star Gillian Jacobs filled in, but somebody should probably check on Alison Brie to make sure she's not strung up in TV appearance-hungry Gillian Jacobs's attic or something.

'Modern Family's Ty Burrell Replaces Christoph Waltz in the 'Muppets' Sequel

Last month, Inglorious Basterds' most charismatic Nazi, Christoph Waltz, was in talks to play the villain in the new Muppets movie, but those negotiations have broken down. Now, The Hollywood Reporter says that goofy Modern Family dad Ty Burrell will be taking over the role, that of an evil Interpol agent. Burrell is currently the only human star attached to the movie, but plenty of supporting roles and cameos have yet to be cast. James Bobin and Nick Stoller, who worked on the previous Muppets film, are returning to write the sequel, with Bobin directing this one too. This probably isn't the first time Ty Burrell and [...]
