Weird Al Reveals the Secrets of Comedy

"Many parodists and satirists go for the jugular, but I’ve always gone for humor that was a little less biting and derogatory. I like to say that my parodies are more of a poke in the ribs than a punch in the face."

- Weird Al to Fast Company in a delightful and detailed interview about his song-parodying process.

Nick Offerman Serenades David Letterman

Nick "Ron Swanson" Offerman stopped by Letterman last night and broke out the ol' acoustic guitar to show everyone the song he used to woo his lady, Megan Mullally, on her birthday. As with most great romantic ballads, it does contain the word "impale."

Paul F. Tompkins and David Rees "Hosted the Shit Out of" a Karaoke Night

Here's footage of Paul F. Tompkins and cartoonist/humorist David Rees hosting a karaoke night on a cruise ship. It's not just any cruise ship, though. It's one of musician Jonathan Coulton's JoCo Cruise Crazy cruises. As Tompkins put it, they "hosted the shit out of that night." When I heard that world existed, I actually said in the writers' room, 'Someone needs to write a [...]

Jimmy Fallon Wrote a Rod Stewart Song and Performed It with Rod Stewart

A few weeks ago, Jimmy Fallon wrote his own Rod Stewart song, "Dancin' With You All Night Long by Rod Stewart" (Stewart's name is part of the title), and recorded a public plea to the influential musician to perform the song with him on his show and Rod Stewart responded with a YouTube video of his own, and last night, the UK rock singer did Fallon's show. The two performed the song together, with Jimmy Fallon doing his best Rod Stewart impression alongside the man himself. Hopefully, this won't be the end of Fallon and Stewart exchanging YouTube videos back and forth.
