South Park Will Continue Through 2016

Trey Parker and Matt Stone have agreed to continue making South Park for at least three more seasons on Comedy Central. Awesome! We're gonna see Kenny die so many more times! We really do put that kid through a lot. He's gotta be used to it by now, though, right?

Meanwhile, Parker and Stone did an interview even though they hate interviews, and explained their tendency to make fun of all sorts of religious and political viewpoints. In Parker's words, "Any side who thinks they're totally right is fucked up. That's the heart of every show." Luckily for everyone, there will probably be more than enough people [...]

Seven Episodes of South Park That Don’t Feature Cartman, Kyle, Stan, and Kenny

This Wednesday’s episode of South Park, “Royal Pudding,” did something that the show rarely does: pushing Cartman, Kyle, Stan, and, sometimes, Kenny, out of the story. With the exception of Kyle’s brief appearance as Tooth Decay in Mr. Mackey’s kindergarten play, the rest of the boys (who we’ll refer to as CKSK and CKS from here on out) were barely in the episode. Here are seven other South Park episodes without the four boys that made Matt Stone and Trey Parker millionaires:

Bill Hader's Report From Inside the South Park Writer's Room

Bill Hader helps write South Park, which is written in a much different fashion than the traditional sitcom. They basically shoot ideas around with a small group of friends/writers and then Trey and Matt end up writing every episode. Here's Hader: You just go and it’s like a dream, you go to an awesome place and stay in an awesome hotel and just for a couple of hours a day you swim around in South Park ideas. The first retreat I went on just seemed to gel. It’s mostly those guys [Trey Parker and Matt Stone]. I kind of hang out in the room. It’s very chill and [...]

Here's the Full Stand In Episode in Which Trey Parker and Matt Stone Teach an NYU Class

About a month ago, Trey Parker and Matt Stone sat in and did a lecture on storytelling for a freshman NYU class for an MTVU show called Stand In. And now it's out, and the whole thing is in the above video. The show is only six minutes long, I guess? A bit of a disappointment, unless NYU classes are actually only six minutes long, in which case those kids have really pulled an amazing con on their parents, getting them to spend $60,000 a year for them to take web-video-length classes.

The South Park Season Premiere Combines the iPad and Human Centipede, Naturally

Season 15 of South Park kicks off Wednesday at 10pm, and the season premiere looks nice and insane. Based on this brief preview clip, it looks to take on Apple through the lens of gross-out horror flick Human Centipede. There's really no one better suited to parody that movie; this won't be anywhere near the first time South Park has shown poop being in or near people's mouths. They're veritable experts at this point.

Check Out the Trailer to 6 Days to Air, the South Park Documentary

Here's the trailer for 6 Days to Air, the documentary about how South Park is made that's airing on Comedy Central on Sunday, October 9th at 10pm. It looks pretty great! It follows Trey Parker and Matt Stone as they go from the opening of Book of Mormon to creating the new season of the show. With a turnaround on par with SNL (and featuring SNL's Bill Hader on the writing staff), it looks to be a pretty frantic system they've got in place. And by frantic, I mean that whenever they're trying to write a script, someone is always farting into the PA system.

Go See 15 Artists Interpret South Park, Mmmkay?

I am super cereal about seeing the South Park 15th Anniversary art show, opening today at Opera Gallery in NYC. Sponsored by Comedy Central, pop surrealist Ron English curated the work of 15 artists, interpretations that include portraiture, dioramas and what appears to be a Chef made entirely of chocolate. It's like your dream life and waking life are slowly bleeding together!

According to the press release, "The artists are unified by their love of the hit series and the passion they bring to their work. Their interpretations feature the South Park characters and the iconic moments throughout the series history." And world history, as using Towelie as [...]
