'How I Met Your Dad' Might Get a Second Chance in the 2015-2016 Season

Despite CBS passing on the How I Met Your Mother spinoff starring Greta Gerwig back in May, TVLine reports that while HIMYD is dead, it'll get another shot at joining the network lineup next season. According to an insider, HIMYD co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas "remain invested" in making the spinoff happen and will have an opportunity to redevelop the project for the 2015-2016 season, though it will most likely not include Greta Gerwig or narration by Meg Ryan.

UPDATE: As it seems to be the case with any HIMYD-related news lately, it turns out this report is false. Bays and Thomas both took to Twitter [...]

Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul Cameos Are Planned for 'Better Call Saul'

Creator Vince Gilligan shared some new info about Breaking Bad's upcoming spinoff/prequel, tentatively titled Better Call Saul, in a Hollywood Reporter profile today.  Both Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, in addition to other Breaking Bad actors, have expressed interest in making cameos in the new show, which will be centered on Bob Odenkirk's sleazy lawyer Saul Goodman. Gilligan says he intends to make this happen: "Personally, I'd have a hard time resisting putting all these guys in for a cameo or two every now and then."

The Gilligan profile also mentions that the one-hour Saul Goodman spinoff will be 75 percent comedic and 25 percent dramatic, and that [...]

Joel McHale to Host Spin-Off Series 'The Soup Investigates'

E! announced today that they're spinning off The Soup. The network is developing a new series, entitled The Soup Investigates, which will also be hosted by Joel McHale. The spinoff will feature McHale and a team of investigative reporters diving deep to answer pop culture-related questions. It sounds kind of like a version of The Soup with Daily Show-esque field segments, which could turn out funny and be an opportunity to develop several comedians into a core group of faux-reporters like The Daily Show has done. If Community manages to get picked up for next season by NBC and E! orders The Soup Investigates to series, Joel McHale could have [...]

AMC Orders Season 2 of 'Better Call Saul' Before Season 1 Even Airs; Pushes Premiere to 2015

AMC announced today they've ordered a second season of Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul, prior to the first season even premiering. The network has also delayed the first season premiere of Better Call Saul, which was supposed to happen in November, and is now pushed to early 2015. The second season will consist of 13 episodes; the first will be 10 episodes. Additionally, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan will now be serving as co-showrunner. He had previously not planned on being involved in the show full-time.

Created by Gilligan and Peter Gould, Better Call Saul is an hour-long comedy-drama that stars Bob Odenkirk as his Breaking Bad character Saul [...]

The 'Breaking Bad' Saul Goodman Spinoff Is Moving Forward at AMC

AMC's Saul Goodman/Breaking Bad spinoff is one step closer to becoming a real thing. After weeks of negotiating, the network and Sony have signed an agreement to do the show. AMC and Sony said in a joint statement that the show's working title is Better Call Saul and that "plans call for Saul to be a one-hour prequel that will focus on the evolution of the popular Saul Goodman character [played by Bob Odenkirk] before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer." The network won't say any more about the show's status, but it reportedly has a series order once deals are completed with Odenkirk and the creative team.

AMC Developing a 'Breaking Bad' Spinoff Starring Bob Odenkirk

With Breaking Bad set to end its run with an eight-episode final season this summer, the people behind the show are looking to extend one of its most popular characters beyond the season finale: Bob Odenkirk's sleazebag lawyer Saul Goodman. Deadline reports that AMC and Sony TV are working with Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and writer Peter Gould, who wrote the Season 2 episode in which Saul first appeared, to develop a show based around Saul Goodman. Last year, Gilligan and Odenkirk each said they'd be interested in doing a spinoff, but this is the first official word on such a project. There's no [...]

Vince Gilligan Says He Wants Mike Ehrmantraut to Appear on 'Better Call Saul'

It's still up in the air whether Vince Gilligan's Bob Odenkirk-centric Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul is a prequel, sequel, or takes place during the time frame of its predecessor, but Gilligan tells EW that he wants Jonathan Banks to potentially reprise his role of Mike Ehrmantraut on the new show.

When asked if he wants any Breaking Bad character to pop up or have an extended role on Saul, Gilligan replied:

The character that springs to mind would be Mike. That would be a great deal of fun. I would say the sky’s the limit, at least theoretically speaking. Realistically speaking, we’ve got a whole lot [...]

Chris Lilley's New Show Is About 'Summer Heights High's Ja'mie King

Australian comedian Chris Lilley is making a new show all about Ja'mie King, the self-absorbed teenage school girl monster he played on Summer Heights High. Called Ja'mie: Private School Girl, it's a six-part series for BBC Three in association with HBO in the US. The show will follow King in her final year at Hillford Girls Grammar School. Lilley commented, "I find teenage girls endlessly funny. So being able to write for and play the meanest bitch in school has been so fun. I can’t wait to show everyone what Ja’mie’s been up to."

Chris Lilley originated the character of Ja'mie in his 2005 Australian series We Can Be Heroes [...]
