'SNL's Colin Jost Dreams Up Several Silly Movie Sequels for 'The New Yorker'

SNL's co-head writer Colin Jost has a funny new piece in The New Yorker today in which he previewed this summer's unlikely movie sequels, including Even More Descendants, Jurassic Park 1-D, and What to Expect When You're Expecting to See 'Trouble with the Curve.' 'Parks and Rec's Chris Pratt Will Be a Marvel Superhero in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Marvel has made a surprising casting choice for its upcoming big superhero franchise Guardians of the Galaxy by hiring actor Chris Pratt, best known for his role as Andy Dwyer on NBC's Parks and Recreation, to play one of the lead characters. Deadline reports that Pratt will play Star-Lord (real name Peter Quill), a NASA astronaut who's the offspring of a human mother and an alien father and becomes the leader of the central team of superheroes known as the Guardians of the Galaxy, which also includes Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon, and Gamora. Those roles haven't been cast yet.

Adam Pally Explains How He Ended Up in 'Iron Man 3'

Comedy fans who watched Iron Man 3 over the weekend might have been surprised to see comedian and Happy Endings star Adam Pally in a cameo role. Midway through the movie, Pally appears as a cameraman who is a big fan of Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark. Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock's 'The Heat' Will Now Be a Big-Time Summer Release

The Melissa McCarthy-Sandra Bullock police comedy The Heat was supposed to be released April 5th, but the studio has moved the movie's premiere date to June 28th, according to Collider. This means the studio was likely really impressed with the film and wants to put it up during the competitive but lucrative summer movie season. The Heat, which also stars Tony Hale, Demian Bechir, Kaitlin Olson, Taran Killam, and Michael Rappaport, will now be facing off with big summer movies Kick-Ass 2 and White House Down. Kevin Hart's New Stand-Up Concert Film 'Let Me Explain' Set for July 4th Weekend

The company Codeblack Films has just acquired Kevin Hart's new stand-up movie, entitled Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain, and they have big plans for it. According to Deadline, Codeblack is planning to give Let Me Explain a "broad summer theatrical release" over 4th of July weekend via a partnership with Lionsgate. This is a bold move for the company as summer is typically blockbuster season, and stand-up concert films never do anywhere as good of business as big summer movies.
