Marc Maron On Getting People to Talk About "Real Things"

“The bottom line is, people don’t talk about real things because they don’t think that other people have the capacity to carry their burden but all that stuff is essentially what makes us fucking human. We’re built to deal with death, disease, failure, struggle, sickness, problems. But we are too proud to reveal ourselves to each other anymore.” - Marc Maron in his New York Magazine profile, describing what he fundamentally is trying to capture with his WTF interviews.

Casey Wilson on Doing a Birthday Suit Birthday Dance With Whitney Cummings

Tonight on Happy Endings, Penny will celebrate her 31st birthday, but it'll be hard for the character to top Casey Wilson's 30th:

For my 30th, I thought, I'm gonna blow it out and do the biggest birthday ever, and I was insisting that everybody do two or three tequila shots, which is such a bad idea. People were actively saying, "No, we don't want to!" because I was peer-pressuring them. And then my girlfriend Whitney Cummings and I had so much tequila that we were randomly pulling our pants down and taking our tops off and dancing. People were like, "Stop, ew, get out of here!" It was [...]

Marc Maron's IFC Show Finds its Showrunners (Good Luck!)

Sivert Glarum and Michael Jamin have been chosen as the executive producers/showrunners for the tentatively titled Maron. Anyone who listens to WTF knows that Glarum and Jamin have quite the task on their hands. Maron has a tendency to be a bit… moody, let's say, but in a lovable way.  Glarum and Jamin are real pros, so they should be up for it. The two previously worked on Just Shoot Me, King of the Hill, and Wilfred, so expect Marc's character to sell propane at a fashion magazine with a man dressed up in a dog costume. (That's how television works, right? Major parts of people's previous work [...]

Aziz Ansari Got an Uninvited Comedy Partner in Cuba Gooding, Jr. Last Night

Gosh, Sundance just seems like a crazy topsy-turvy world, where movie stars spend their days skiing and Cuba Gooding Jr. is a standup comedian. He was last night, anyway, when he leapt onstage during Aziz Ansari's standup set to try to persuade the audience to pay more attention. Best of all, he began his announcement by shouting "Cuba Gooding!" which is so wonderfully fantastic I can't even take it. Anyway, it doesn't sound like Aziz is in the market for a partner, but he might be able to refer Cuba to another comic who also frequently punctuates his jokes with his own name. Look for the Raaaaaaaandy! and [...]

Dave Chappelle's Twitter Account: The Animated Taiwanese Re-Imagining

I'm not really sure why Next Media Animation keeps restricting itself to coverage of news stories. In just this one video about Dave Chappelle's joining Twitter, there are enough premises for like 8 movies. A standup comic who performs naked, the fight for territory between a bear and a reclusive comedian, forced suicide after a wise man tells you you don't exist. All solid entertainment ideas.

Saturday Night Live: The Board Game Is a Real Thing

Holy smokes, there is an SNL board game. It's just out now to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the show, as is traditional with 35th anniversaries. It looks to be a relatively-straightforward trivia game in which you pick a decade of SNL history and try to answer questions about it (they might as well not even include a deck of questions about the 80s, right?).

It mixes up the standard trivia game format in a few ways. First, one person must play as Lorne, the gamemaster. They decide who is winning or losing at any given time, but can never tell or even hint at where people [...]
