The '21 Jump Street' Sequel Will Be Called '22 Jump Street'

Following in the tradition of sequel titles like Ocean's Twelve and The Whole Ten Yards, Sony announced in a press release yesterday that the follow-up to 21 Jump Street will be called 22 Jump Street. The previous movie, a remake of the '80s show of the same name, came out last spring and earned good reviews and a ton of money at the box office, a rare feat for a big-budget studio comedy these days. Sony began developing the sequel to 21 Jump Street last year, before the first movie even hit theaters. It was previously announced that Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube will be returning [...]

The Complete Guide to Everything: The Movies of 2012

This week Tim has had enough of Christmas and would like you all to stop even though Christmas ended nearly a week ago. Also Tom becomes a member of a museum and feels pretty smug about it. In this episode the guys discuss the movies of 2012, including Sleepwalk with Me, Moonrise Kingdom, The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, Underworld, Red Tails, Chronicle, Ghost Rider, Wanderlust, A Thousand Words, 21 Jump Street, The Hunger Games, Cabin in the Woods, Dark Shadows, The Dictator, Battleship, Men in Black 3 and Life of Pi.

It is important to note that neither Tim nor Tom have seen the majority of the [...]

Jonah Hill Refuses to Compare 21 Jump Street to Never Been Kissed

Wait a second. Jonah Hill describes the central conceit of 21 Jump Street as "getting to relive the most important part of your youth, high school — and thinking you have all the answers, but realizing you have none of the answers," but he DOESN'T think the movie is comparable to Drew Barrymore's 1999 classic Never Been Kissed? Uh, did he miss the part of the movie where Josie Geller gets to enroll at South Glen South High School to relive her high school years, thinking she now knows enough to avoid being called Josie Grossie and getting stood up at the prom by Billy Prince, but finding [...]

The Red-Band Trailer For 21 Jump Street Looks Pretty Great

Let's go ahead and declare this afternoon a high school comedy trailer double feature! Act One was Project X; Act Two is 21 Jump Street. The latter stars Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ellie Kemper, which we knew about, but there's also Nick Offerman and Rob Riggle. And Ice Cube, and Dave Franco. And a party! Duh, because parties are an essential staple of the high school comedy. As are drugs and pooping oneself. And those aren't even the best part of the trailer. (The best part of the trailer is when Ice Cube says "Twittersphere.")

Ice Cube and Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller Will Be Back for '21 Jump Street 2'

The 21 Jump Street sequel is starting to take shape. Collider has an interview with producer Neal Moritz, in which he reveals that Ice Cube will be back as the police captain, with original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller attached to return too. It was previously announced that Jonah Hill and the first movie's screenwriter, Michael Bacall, are working on the script. Hill and Channing Tatum are expected to return in the lead roles with a summer 2014 release in mind.

Here's all the non-boring stuff Moritz said about the sequel:

It leads off where we ended the last film and our guys are going to college [...]

'21 Jump Street' to Start Heading Down Sequel Street this Fall

Sony has announced they're planning on shooting a sequel to 21 Jump Street (possibly titled "22 Jump Street: We Moved!") this fall. Jonah Hill will be back starring and co-writing the script with Michael Bacall. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will likely be back as well. Channing Tatum should be back but he's still an uncertainty because every time he leaves his house 200 women claw at his abs and squeeze his buns until he runs back inside.

The New 21 Jump Street Trailer Is the Longest Trailer Ever

Four minutes and 43 seconds has got to be brushing up against some records for longest movie trailer ever. But while not all comedies might be able to pull it off, this trailer makes 21 Jump Street look worthwhile even after watching five minutes of its best jokes. It's got all the Rob Riggle touching Jonah Hill's tongue of the original trailer, plus more angry Ice Cube, frustrated school principal Jake Johnson (who could easily be playing his New Girl character who's quit bartending), and Channing Tatum telling science to fuck itself while standing in front of a white board full of the number 4. In other words, [...]

Ellie Kemper Cast In 21 Jump Street

Variety reports that The Office's Ellie Kemper joined 21 Jump Street, where she'll be playing a ruthless serial killer who collects fingernail clippings and locks of hair in an attempt to build her own animate homunculus. No, I kid. Kemper will be playing "an annoyingly sincere chemistry teacher" who is shocked to find that Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are undercover cops working at her high school, but probably relieved that her intense attraction to Tatum is not the result of some kind of deep-seated sexual dysfunction.

'21 Jump Street 2' Set for a 2014 Release

Sony began prepping the sequel to 21 Jump Street before the first movie even hit theaters, and now, the studio has announced that 21 Jump Street 2 will be out in 2014. Sony revealed the info at CinemaCon yesterday with a logo for the sequel being included as part of the studio's 2014 slate. No specific date has been set for a release at this time, just the year. The original movie's writers, Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall, are also writing the new one, with Hill and Channing Tatum are expected to return as stars. 21 Jump Street's ending set up a sequel where the two main characters [...]

Jonah Hill Is Really Surprised That 21 Jump Street Is Funny

Jonah Hill seems legitimately shocked that 21 Jump Street is good and funny. It's a little disconcerting! But even more unsettling is the absolute MYSTERY he presents of going to sleep in boxers and waking up in a formal top half, dress shoes and no pants. Or as he amazingly calls it, Donald Ducking. Parts 2 and 3 of the interview below.

It's Never Too Early for a 21 Jump Street Sequel

21 Jump Street isn't coming out until March 16, but Jonah Hill says that he and Michael Bacall are "writing the sequel now," having been given a green light from the studio. Seems a bit like putting the sequel cart before the movie horse, if you know what I mean. But if things like focus groups and press screenings can give a studio a good enough idea of how the movie will do in theaters even before it's released to know whether a sequel is called for, more power to them. And their terrifying, ticket-sale predicting powers of clairvoyance. (Someone write a movie about that! And then immediately [...]
