Charlie Rose Tries, and Fails, to Figure Out Larry David

Charlie Rose sat down with Larry David over the weekend to talk about his Broadway debut in Fish in the Dark, and he attempted to understand the "real" Larry David but only got these responses: "Who the hell knows?" and "I'm like everybody else. I'm a jerk." David manages to stay simultaneously uninterested and entertaining throughout the entire interview, in which he pays a visit to his childhood Brooklyn home, junior high school stage, and some of his earliest standup memories. Watch some outtakes from the interview below, in which Rose and his 60 Minutes colleagues look back on interacting with David as if he were some rare and endangered [...]

Daily Show Writer Elliott Kalan and Executive Producer Rory Albanese Fight For Andy Rooney's 60 Minutes Job

You've probably heard that earlier today, 60 Minutes' cranky grandpa Andy Rooney announced his retirement. That left his musky armchair open for someone to come and complain in, and two men have stepped up to the plate: Daily Show writer Elliott Kalan and Daily Show executive producer Rory Albanese.

First, Kalan set up a petition asking for a shot at the job, saying that while he may be young, he is also extremely curmudgeony. Then, Rory Albanese, Elliott's boss (awkward!) set up a competing petition, saying "Yes, Elliott knows about comic books and old movies, but Rory Albanese can rant about any topic, regardless of [...]

Jay Leno Talks Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Fallon, and His Future on '60 Minutes'

Last night, 60 Minutes aired the above Tonight Show exit interview with Jay Leno. Highlights include Leno jokingly considering a History Channel show, his wife Mavis getting really mad about that whole Conan thing, and this exchange with Steve Kroft:

You would've preferred to stay. Well it's always nice to keep working, sure it is. But am I extremely grateful? Yes. Do I understand the circumstances? Yes, of course.

This is the part I don't understand. I mean you're still #1. Well I think because you have talented people who will only wait so long before they get another opportunity, you don't want to lose that opportunity. That makes [...]

Sharp Teeth And A Big Heart: Trey Parker And Matt Stone On 60 Minutes

Trey Parker and Matt Stone's 60 Minutes interview is, in large part, an impressive look back at how often the South Park guys have just killed it, beginning with Cannibal! The Musical in 1993 and ending (so far) with this year's Book of Mormon. The most awe-inspiring aspect of Parker and Stone's success, however, would have to be the fact that they've sustained a functional 20-year-long creative partnership without some kind of Hollywood-style hotel-room-torching break-up. "At this point, it's kind of like a marriage," admits Stone. Says Parker, "It's funny. We're just at that level now where it just doesn't happen anymore where one of us can say [...]

60 Minutes To Profile Trey Parker And Matt Stone This Sunday

Trey Parker and Matt Stone will stop by 60 Minutes this coming Sunday, Sept. 25 at 7:00pm to discuss the success of Book of Mormon, give a behind-the-scenes tour of South Park Studios and finally reveal once and for all whether or not they kiss their mother with those filthy, filthy potty mouths.
