Adam McKay and Will Ferrell's Funny or Die is reportedly considering a big sale. Bloomberg reports that the company recently hired a financial advisor to "evaluate options including a possible sale" with an asking price of $100-300 million. "We've received unsolicited interest from a number of companies," CEO Dick Glover said in a memo to FOD employees. "We are NOT trying to sell Funny or Die, but we thought it wise to engage some experts to help us evaluate the situation. In the meantime, if any of you mistakenly receive a briefcase full of cash, please bring it to my office immediately."

An unnamed source also told [...]

Adam McKay Is Definitely Not Replacing Edgar Wright on 'Ant-Man'

It looks like Paul Rudd's Anchorman director Adam McKay is now out of the running to replace Edgar Wright on Marvel's Ant-Man. According to Variety, McKay met with Marvel on Friday but ended up passing on the project. "And yes, met w/Marvel," McKay confirmed on Twitter late Friday night. If the rumored directors up for consideration are accurate, this leaves We're the Millers' Rawson Thurber and Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer as the last comedy directors in the running to replace Wright. According to [...]

Adam McKay Vows to Make Economics Sexy and Fun with His Next Movie

"Rather than knowing about Kim Kardashian and sports and who’s wearing what, the language of power is economics. Is there a way to make that as sexy and fun as it is? It’s a big challenge, I don’t know if I can do it or not. You’ll have to tell me if it sucks."

How Adam McKay Directs at the Top of His Intelligence

Adam McKay’s path to becoming a director began as a notoriously mischievous improvisor under the tutelage of guru Del Close in Chicago, then joining SNL as a writer, eventually ascending to head writer in the mid-nineties. It was there he began his collaboration with Will Ferrell that would come to define his feature directing career. The two have collaborated on Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Step Brothers, The Other Guys, and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, establishing a formula of highly designed and actively structured plays on genre that have shaped the modern comedy landscape beyond their work alone.

Adam McKay on What He Learned from Working with Improv Guru Del Close

Will Ferrell doesn’t mince words when describing Adam McKay, his longtime friend and comedy collaborator. “He’s kind of a dangerous individual,” Ferrell says. “He’s extremely funny; there’s no doubt about it. But he’s dangerous. I wouldn’t stay in a room with him, one on one, for any longer than I had to. There’s a criminal tendency there. We have a great working relationship because I don’t ask him much about his past. He just frightens me.” Ferrell is joking, obviously. But there was a time, years before McKay found Hollywood success directing and co-writing films such as Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006) and The Other Guys (2010), [...]

Sources report that Rawson Thurber (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, We're the Millers), Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), and Paul Rudd's Anchorman director Adam McKay are all on the shortlist to replace Wright, though "no decision has been made yet." Rumored to also be up for consideration is Warm Bodies writer/director Jonathan Levine, but one of THR's sources denied he had been approached for the project. In any case, the news that Marvel is in [...]

In the process they find themselves accidentally stranded in Mexico without identification and must sneak back into the U.S." McKay has been reportedly eyeing to direct the film, but the trio's attachment has not yet been made official. McKay and Ferrell's Gary [...]

Adam McKay Says He Rewrote the 'Ant-Man' Script with Paul Rudd

Not long after director Edgar Wright left Marvel's Ant-Man film in May, Adam McKay was chosen to help rewrite the script for new director Peyton Reed and recently revealed to Collider that he enlisted star Paul Rudd to help out. "Ultimately I didn't want to jump in as director, I had too many other projects going on and it was too tight," McKay said, "but I thought, 'You know what, I can rewrite this, and I can do a lot of good by rewriting it.'" McKay went on to say that Rudd turned out to be "really great with dialogue" and that they "holed up in [...]

Peyton Reed Talks Adam McKay's Work on 'Ant-Man'

"We all know Adam is, in my mind, a comedic genius, and I've known Adam since the Upright Citizens Brigade days that I did in the late '90s. But Adam is also an insane comics fan and a Marvel fan, so I was surprised but really pleased to see that he had such a knowledge of the Marvel Comics universe. So he's bringing all of that to the movie."

- In a new interview with Collider, Ant-Man's new director Peyton Reed talks about taking over for Edgar Wright, Adam McKay currently working on script rewrites, and how much humor we can expect to see from the film when it [...]

Peyton Reed Will Direct 'Ant-Man' with Script Help from Adam McKay

Marvel has finally named its new Ant-Man director to fill the void left by original helmer Edgar Wright. Deadline reports that Peyton Reed has officially signed on to direct the Paul Rudd-starring superhero movie due out in July 2015. Adam McKay, who considered the job but ultimately turned down the offer, will reportedly help Reed with the script — the most current rewrite of which is the reason why Wright decided to part ways with the project.

Reed's biggest film directing projects include Bring It On, The Break-Up, and the Jim Carrey-starring Yes Man, and he's also directed a handful of small-screen comedies like New Girl, [...]

The Flintstones is getting rebooted again. THR reports that Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are producing a full-length, animated Flintstones movie via their company Gary Sanchez. No director is attached, but the script is being written by Chris Henchy, who's a partner at Gary Sanchez and co-wrote the Ferrell vehicles The Other Guys, Land of the Lost, and The Campaign.
