'Anchorman 2' Will Take Place in New York and Other Minor Details from Adam McKay

Plot details are scarce about the new Anchorman movie, which starts filming next week in Atlanta, but writer/director Adam McKay shared some more tidbits with Empire, revealing that part of the action will be taking place in New York. "San Diego is too close to Ron's heart to go away, but we feel that New York City is the holy grail for all newsmen," explained McKay. Funny or Die Is Expanding into Movies

Funny or Die, the web video and TV enterprise created by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Chris Henchy, will begin producing movies, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's company Gary Sanchez is working with Anne Heche to develop a new NBC pilot called Bad Judge, Deadline reports. The show is based on an idea by Heche (who's also producing) and written by Chad Kultgen (one of the writers on the upcoming Steve Carell vehicle The Incredible Burt Wonderstone). It follows a hard-living criminal judge whose freewheelin' ways are constantly putting her professional life in danger. Comedy Central Picks Up 'TripTank', Animated Series with Contributors Larry David, Bob Odenkirk, and More

Comedy Central has just picked up TripTank, a new show from Robot Chicken producers Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico that'll be an anthology of animated shorts from established comedy writers and performers. In the vein of early 90s MTV show Liquid Television, TripTank will feature recurring mini-shows within its run, which Bulkley says will be potentially developed into full-length animated spin-offs. Anchorman director/co-writer Adam McKay tweeted last night that Kristen Wiig is officially on board for the sequel. This comes after word that Wiig was in negotiations for a role in Anchorman 2 back in December. Wiig will play the love interest of Steve Carell's dense weatherman Brick Tamland. So far, she's the only new cast member to officially sign on to the movie, joining returning stars Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and David Koechner. This time next year, you'll be sleeping in after a midnight screening of the long-awaited sequel to Anchorman, entitled Anchorman: The Legend Continues. Paramount just announced the film will be released on December 20, 2013, just in time for the holidays. Anchorman 2 will see stars Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and David Koechner return, along with producer Judd Apatow, writers Adam McKay and Ferrell, and director McKay. Adam McKay revealed some juicy tidbits about the Anchorman sequel during an interview with The Playlist promoting Fully Loaded, a new movie he's producing. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s production company Gary Sanchez just sold a new single-camera comedy to NBC, written by Funny or Die’s Lauryn Kahn. Will Ferrell's Company Is Developing a Late Night Talk Show for USA

Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's production company Gary Sanchez is developing a new late night talk show for the USA Network, TV Guide reports, and the series sounds like it'll be pretty different from anything else on the late night dial. Created by Rob Cohen (Life and Times of Tim, Big Bang Theory)  and Owen Burke (who runs Gary Sanchez's TV division), the untitled project will be a morning show airing at 12:01 am, which is technically the morning. Two new comedy trailers dropped today. Here's the first, for Warm Bodies, a romantic comedy about a zombie that's due out February 1st. Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, Dave Franco, and John Malkovich star in the movie, which is co-written/directed by Jonathan Levine (The Wackness, 50/50).
