Alec Baldwin's been running his mouth again. But who can be mad at him when he's promising a 30 Rock live episode on April 26? Nobody can, barring some kind of amazing grudge-holding supervillain. And they'd probably still be mad at him about the Words With Friends thing, so whatever.
As of September of last year, Alec Baldwin has hosted SNL 16 times over an impressive 21-year span and helped create many of the show's most hilarious moments. But rather than discuss his amazing roster of sketches over the years, here's a look at Baldwin's SNL evolution from blazingly handsome young movie star to seasoned film, TV, and comedy veteran via seven of his sixteen opening monologues, from the earliest to most recent:
Alec Baldwin will stay on 30 Rock for the foreseeable future, according to NBC's Bob Greenblatt (that guy's just full of good news today). Thank goodness. What would that show even be like without Jack Donaghy pouring scotch, dating high-powered politicians and making sweeping pronouncements about media and business? I'll tell you what, it would be one long Tracy Jordan monologue. Which would actually be amazing, in a different way.
Alec Baldwin has said he's no longer interested in running for NYC mayor. Here's his explanation for why not:
I've lost my appetite. Plus the people that are running for mayor — I know this is terrible — I look at them and I don't see myself in that crowd. They're like a guy on a date that you can tell he just can't wait to get his hand up your blouse before even the lights go out in the theatre. They're all just so horny for it. Horny for their own ascension.

Oh, Alec. First you get kicked off a plane for playing Words With Friends, then you delete your Twitter, and now you write an apology to the other passengers that's 99% complaints about "filthy planes, barely edible meals, cuts in jet service to less-traveled locations," and other symptoms of "inelegant" air travel. And let's not forget flight attendants "who walk the aisles of an airplane with a whistle around their neck and a clipboard in their hands." You did at least learn a lesson, though, right? "The lesson I've learned is to keep my phone off when the 1950's gym teacher is on duty." Ah. Right.
Woody Allen's new comedy with Alec Baldwin, Jesse Eisenberg, and Ellen Page is now called To Rome With Love, and it's coming to theaters June 22. (It seems the powers that be decided Nero Fiddled would be a confusing title for international audiences. Go figure.)

It was Tina Fey! That sneaky, sneaky genius. She knew what she was doing. It was all an elaborate ruse to keep 30 Rock in the news, and it worked. Because we are all shallow, hungry gossip hounds, grubbling our little paws through the dirt in search of our next schadenfreude fix. Like junkies, or moles.
Woody Allen's next comedy is called Nero Fiddled, and it takes place in Rome. The four vignettes comprising the film will star Woody Allen himself, IN THE FLESH, plus Alec Baldwin, Jesse Eisenberg, and Ellen Page (and Roberto Benigni, Penélope Cruz, Judy Davis, and Greta Gerwig). Okay, I realize this probably won't happen, but if Alec Baldwin played Nero, that would be incredible. Anyway, Sony Pictures Classic says there are "more laughs in this one than you can imagine" and calls it "the perfect summer comedy of 2012." Yeah, that's what you'd like us to think, ISN'T IT, SONY?
Not only did Alec Baldwin get yelled at for playing Words With Friends on his phone while on a plane, he also got removed from the plane? This is the best news story of the century. Who do we think he was playing with? Was he about to make an epic move or something? Or maybe it was a totally normal game and he's Alec Baldwin and he can do whatever he wants, always.
In this 30 Rock webisode, it's fallen to Jack Donaghy to find a new act for the Super Bowl halftime show. If anyone can do it, he can – even while animated. Because he can make any business deal in any medium. "Lemon, I once persuaded the cast of Friends to do an tenth season via Morse code." P.S. Childish Gambino rapping over the Knight Rider theme song would make a dope halftime show and NBC should seriously consider it.

Alec Baldwin's absolute refusal to stop playing Words With Friends AT ANY COST may have actually gotten 30 Rock removed from American Airlines flights. Guess they weren't too happy with his SNL impersonation. Anyway, this is a hilarious news story, but also a sobering reminder that our actions have consequences!
