AMC Passes On Its First Comedy Pilot 'We Hate Paul Revere'

AMC has been developing its very first comedy pilot We Hate Paul Revere since way back in 2012, but it wasn't until this past summer when it began picking up pace with attached cast members Scott Adsit and Ron Livingston with SNL/Funny or Die/Spoils of Babylon director Matt Piedmont also attached to direct. Sadly, THR reports that AMC has decided to pass on the project, presumably to focus on original scripted drama now that Breaking Bad has ended and Mad Men will conclude its run next year. AMC has a bunch of comedies currently in development as well as a TV adaptation of [...]

Deadline reports that legendary This Is Spinal Tap performer Michael McKean has joined the cast of the Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul centered on Bob Odenkirk's criminal lawyer character Saul Goodman. McKean will play a new character named Dr. Thurber, "a brilliant attorney who is now restricted by an unusual affliction." News of McKean's casting follows that of Breaking Bad alum Jonathan Banks reprising his role as Saul's private investigator Mike Ehrmantraut. The prequel is currently set to debut this November.

Jonathan Banks Joins Bob Odenkirk in 'Better Call Saul' Cast

The Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul is beginning to round out its cast. According to Variety, Jonathan Banks has been cast alongside Bob Odenkirk as a regular on the series. Banks and Odenkirk are so far the only announced cast members for Better Call Saul, which is set to premiere on AMC this November.

'Better Call Saul' Might Be A Sequel, Or a Prequel/Sequel Combo

Better Call Saul, the highly anticipated Breaking Bad spinoff starring Bob Odenkirk's lawyer character Saul Goodman, may not end up being a prequel after all. In a recent IGN interview, Odenkirk said the format of the show, which was picked up in September, is still being decided.

A lot of people do want to see what happens to next to Saul. So, I don’t know what they’re going to do. I know they’ve talked about prequel, but they’ve also talked to me about sequel, and they’ve also talked to me about a mix of prequel and sequel.

He also affirmed that the show will be more dramedy than a [...]

Bob Odenkirk on 'Better Call Saul': "It's a Total Drama, Man"

AMC's Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul premieres on the network in February, and in a recent interview with THR, star Bob Odenkirk cleared up any confusion about where on the series will tilt on the comedy/drama scale. The original concept for Better Call Saul was a half-hour comedy, but Odenkirk says it quickly turned into an hourlong drama: "It's a total drama, man. It's 85 percent drama, 15 percent comedy." Head over to THR to read the rest of the interview, which includes Odenkirk's thoughts on writing for SNL, Get a Life, and the one network note Mr. Show got from HBO during its run [...]

It's been over a year and a half since AMC announced that they were working on a Colonial Boston-themed comedy pilot by Whitney writer/producers Adrian Wenner and Ethan Sandler called We Hate Paul Revere, but today The Wrap reports that the network has finally signed on a star to play the titular role. Office Space's Ron Livingston has officially been cast to play Paul Revere in the show, while SNL, Funny or Die, and The Spoils of Babylon's Matt Piedmont will direct. Director/producer Troy Miller — who has worked on Arrested Development, Flight of the Conchords, Parks and Rec, and The Office — will also work as [...]

'The Simpsons' Nails Those Terrible 'Mad Men' Teasers

Mad Men returns this Sunday, and with it, so do those incoherent teaser trailers for next week's episode, featuring a bunch of out-of-context snippets tied together. The Simpsons made a promo for its new episode in the style of those awful Mad Men teasers, and it's pretty spot-on.

Vince Gilligan Says He Wants Mike Ehrmantraut to Appear on 'Better Call Saul'

It's still up in the air whether Vince Gilligan's Bob Odenkirk-centric Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul is a prequel, sequel, or takes place during the time frame of its predecessor, but Gilligan tells EW that he wants Jonathan Banks to potentially reprise his role of Mike Ehrmantraut on the new show.

When asked if he wants any Breaking Bad character to pop up or have an extended role on Saul, Gilligan replied:

The character that springs to mind would be Mike. That would be a great deal of fun. I would say the sky’s the limit, at least theoretically speaking. Realistically speaking, we’ve got a whole lot [...]

Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul Cameos Are Planned for 'Better Call Saul'

Creator Vince Gilligan shared some new info about Breaking Bad's upcoming spinoff/prequel, tentatively titled Better Call Saul, in a Hollywood Reporter profile today.  Both Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, in addition to other Breaking Bad actors, have expressed interest in making cameos in the new show, which will be centered on Bob Odenkirk's sleazy lawyer Saul Goodman. Gilligan says he intends to make this happen: "Personally, I'd have a hard time resisting putting all these guys in for a cameo or two every now and then."

The Gilligan profile also mentions that the one-hour Saul Goodman spinoff will be 75 percent comedic and 25 percent dramatic, and that [...]

Cable network AMC, home to acclaimed dramas like Mad Men, The Walking Dead, and formerly Breaking Bad, announced the new slate of shows they're developing today, including a big push towards scripted comedy.

AMC has greenlit its first scripted comedy pilot, We Hate Paul Revere. Created by and starring Ethan Sandler and Adrian Wenner (who wrote together on My Boys and Whitney), the show follows two brothers trying to make their place in history in Colonial Boston. AMC started developing this comedy in 2012, and if they order it to series, it's expected to debut in 2015.

The network is also developing five new comedies:

'Better Call Saul' Should Be On the Air Within a Year, Will Spend a Lot of Time in Court

This weekend, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan said that he expects the show's spinoff Better Call Saul, starring Bob Odenkirk as Saul Goodman, to be on the air "before next year is done." And showrunner Peter Gould talked a bit about what to expect from the show and how it'll be different from Breaking Bad: Saul will be spending a lot more time in courtrooms. Seeing that the character is a lawyer, that makes sense, although he was never once seen in a courtroom setting in Breaking Bad. He was more of an expert at keeping his clients out of court rather than helping them through the [...]
