This 'Anchorman 2' Gag Reel Gives the Movie a Run for Its Money

Here's the Anchorman 2 gag reel, which features Will Ferrell making pretty much all of his cast mates laugh, Paul Rudd losing it over a line about Ferrell pleasuring himself to Mrs. Butterworth, Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig laughing at their own jibberish skills, and a literal cat fight. Considering the caliber of comedy talent involved here, it's a shame this gag reel can't be expanded into a full-length movie of its own.

Steve Carell Says Paramount Shut Down the 'Anchorman' Broadway Musical Idea

During a recent interview on the podcast A.D.D. Comedy, Steve Carell revealed an interesting tidbit about Adam McKay and Will Ferrell's original intention to stage the Anchorman sequel as a Broadway musical before developing it into a film:

When they first talked about a second Anchorman, the original idea was to do it as a Broadway musical. They were legitimately considering this. So Adam McKay and Will Ferrell contacted us and said "What do you think about we go to Broadway, we do a Broadway musical Anchorman 2, and like the Marx Brothers we sorta work out all sorts of bits while we're doing the stage play, [...]

Here's a Peek at Last Night's 'Anchorman 2' Premiere

In case you have a little more room in your brain for Anchorman 2 promotion, the US premiere happened last night at New York's Beacon Theatre, complete with a fancy red carpet lineup of the film's stars and a handful of other entertainment reporter bait. Here's a recap of the night from Splitsider's post near the end of the press line, complete with photos and a few quotes from the attendees.

Listen to Robin Thicke and Ron Burgundy's Duet Off the 'Anchorman 2' Soundtrack

The Anchorman 2 soundtrack is due out December 17th, and here's the first track from it, a cover of Christopher Cross's "Ride Like the Wind" performed by Robin Thicke and Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy. There's also a music video for Burgundy and Thicke's cover of the song in the works, but you'll just have to imagine what they look like singing this together for now.

Will Ferrell Did a North Dakota Local Newscast, Called Some Women's Curling as Ron Burgundy

The Anchorman 2 marketing blitz continued this weekend, with Will Ferrell appearing in character as Ron Burgundy for both an entire North Dakota local news broadcast as well as at a Canadian curling tournament. Ferrell played it pretty straight in ND, reading actual news stories with that silky baritone alongside one of the actual anchors. He showed up wearing a kilt to the curling tournament, so he played that one a little less straight. Check that out below.

Ferrell will also be hosting SportsCenter this Thursday at 6pm on ESPN, and will presumably show up in character in a few dozen more places before the movie is actually released [...]

Adam McKay Says There Won't Be an 'Anchorman 3'

Adam McKay, who directed both Anchorman movies and co-wrote them with Will Ferrell, said in an interview with Empire that the Anchorman series is over. Here's what he said:

"It’s done. I think that’s it. It was great to do it and it was so fun to work with those guys again, but I think that’s it for Ron Burgundy … No, that’s the last sequel we’re gonna do. There’s nothing more fun to me than new characters and a new world. And now we’re releasing this alt version, we’re totally satisfied. No Anchorman 3."

When asked if he'd ever consider doing another Anchorman in 10 years, McKay [...]

Carell, Ferrell, Koechner, and Rudd Bring Chaos to 'The Daily Show'

The Anchorman 2 cast are all in the midst of their final promotional push this week, but last night on The Daily Show, guests Will Ferrell, David Koechner, Paul Rudd, and former Daily Show correspondent Steve Carell decided to approach their appearance a little differently, starting first with some knowing glances between Stewart and Carell then slowly devolving to a very slapsticky destruction of the Daily Show green room decor.

Why Is 'Anchorman 2' Being Promoted So Hard?

No comedy in movie history has ever been promoted as hard as Anchorman 2. We're still a week away from the film's release, but we're two months into a massive publicity blast featuring Will Ferrell and his costars making a slew of appearances all over the TV and internet as their characters from the original, plus a ton of promotional tie-ins. There's an Anchorman Ben & Jerry's flavor, a Ron Burgundy "memoir," an exhibit at Washington D.C.'s "newseum," Emerson College renamed its communications school after Burgundy for a day, Ferrell filmed 70 spots for Dodge in character as Burgundy, he released an anti-piracy PSA, [...]

The 'Anchorman 2' Superticket Costs $33 and Gets You the Movie 2 Days Early, Plus a Digital Copy

We reported last month that AMC Theaters is making Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues available to fans two days early via a "superticket," and now, AMC has released full details on how that'll work. Basically, you pay $33 and then get to see the movie two days early, on December 16th rather than its release on December 18th, and it comes with a digital download of the movie, which will be available weeks before its DVD release, and a digital download of Wake Up, Ron Burgundy, the alternate cut of the original Anchorman. Check out a video Ferrell made as Ron Burgundy (in case you aren't sick [...]

Watch the 'Anchorman 2' Cast Sing "Afternoon Delight"

From Anchorman 2's Australian premiere, here's Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and David Koechner singing "Afternoon Delight." Nearly 10 years later, it still sounds so surprisingly good for an a cappella song from a group of comedians.

Here's a Trailer and Clip for 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues: Super-Sized R Rated Version'

Anchorman 2 is re-releasing for one week starting tomorrow with a longer, raunchier, much more joke-heavy version, and the above trailer isn't ashamed to boast that "763 new jokes" line over and over. Click through to watch a clip from the movie featuring the anchors enjoying some crack at the news desk.

Will Ferrell and Adam McKay Tried to Get Barack Obama to Cameo in 'Anchorman 2's Big Brawl

In a new interview with Paste magazine, Anchorman director/co-writer Adam McKay revealed that he and Will Ferrell tried to get a bunch of super lofty cameos for Anchorman 2's big news anchor brawl, including Oprah Winfrey and presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. Here's McKay explaining what happened:

We drew up a wish list of all the people we wanted and what we ended up with was basically our wish list. It has never happened before. Usually you do your dream casting and you get 30 or 40 percent of the people. In this case they all said, “Yes.” It was insane. When they started saying, “Yes,” I [...]

Talking to David Koechner About ‘Anchorman 2’, ‘Cheap Thrills’, and His Most Recognizable Roles

David Koechner has, by our rough estimate, starred in approximately a bazillion different television shows and movies. The versatile comedic actor who got his start in the Chicago improv scene is best known for his roles as Todd Packer in The Office and Champ Kind in Anchorman – two hilarious, yet very distinct types of chauvinistic jerks – but you’re just as likely to recognize him from any number of sketch shows, sitcoms, cartoons, and 3D killer piranha films from the mid-‘90s on.

This year has proved as busy as ever for Koechner. In addition to once again donning Champ’s cowboy hat for the much-anticipated Anchorman sequel, he’s also [...]

'Anchorman 2' Is Chasing an Oscar Nomination for Best Original Song

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues happens to be coming out right during awards season, and the studio behind the movie is actually campaigning for a "Best Original Song" Oscar nomination. Check out Paramount's "For Your Consideration" site to hear "Doby," a funny, overblown song from Anchorman 2 that Will Ferrell sings with backup from a childrens' choir. Ferrell and McKay co-wrote the song with the movie's composers, John Nau and Andrew Feltenstein. An Oscar nomination for the comedic song wouldn't be too surprising as the comedy Ted was nominated for "Best Original Song" last year and The Muppets won the category the year before.

Anchorman 2's soundtrack [...]
