The Lonely Island Signs a Deal to Develop Shows for Fox via Hulu and Roku

Comedy trio The Lonely Island is going to be making stuff for Fox. The group, consisting of Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, and recent Golden Globe winner Andy Samberg, signed a development deal to create online content for Fox that will potentially be developed into shows for Fox and its subsidiary networks FX and FXX, Variety reports. The deal does not involve The Lonely Island creating musical content, with it focused instead on non-musical comedy that will likely debut on digital platforms like Hulu and Roku. Plans are for the trio to bring people they'd like to work with to Fox while overseeing projects created by these people, but [...]

Andy Samberg Tries One of Those Commercials Where He Walks Across the Screen on 'The Tonight Show'

Andy Samberg was a guest on The Tonight Show last night, and while discussing the fact that his show Brooklyn Nine-Nine is airing after the Super Bowl, he decided to try out one of those ads where the person from another show walks across the bottom of the screen. It was pretty funny, even if the camera person totally messed it up by zooming out waaayyy too far.

'Comedy Bang! Bang!' Has the Most Amazingly Star-Studded Crew

Comedy Bang! Bang! returns again next week with the second half of its season, and host Scott Aukerman thought it was about time we got to meet some of the show's inimitable celebrity crew. Sometimes, show business really is glamorous.

What to Look Forward to in 'SNL' Season 39

Season 39 of SNL kicks off this Saturday night with Tina Fey, Arcade Fire, and a mouthful of new names for Don Pardo to read off in the opening credits. After several seasons of little turnover, the cast is experiencing a major upheaval, with six — six! — new cast members to replace the departed Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis, and Fred Armisen. This is the largest staff hire in 18 years, tying the 1995-1996 season's addition of Jim Breuer, Will Ferrell, Darrell Hammond, David Koechner, Cheri Oteri, and Nancy Walls. After the show's dismal 1994-1995 season, which saw near cancellation and the firing/resignation of 12 cast members, those six were [...]

Michael Schur Talks About Andy Samberg Playing a More Grounded Character in 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

Michael Schur and Dan Goor, the creators of the upcoming Brooklyn Nine-Nine, talked to Alan Sepinwall about the show and what it's like taking a goofy sketch writer/actor like Andy Samberg and casting him in a more grounded sitcom. I think he likes goofing around a lot. Like he looks goofy in three-minute videos. And there were a lot of similarities i between what the kind of thing he was looking to do and the kind of thing Amy was looking to do when we started Parks and Rec. You work at SNL for seven years and you have a great time. And you do a lot of [...]

Amy Poehler, Andy Samberg, 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Among 2014 Golden Globe Winners

The Golden Globes aired last night, and in the realm of comedy, Mike Schur's NBC shows had a great night. Not only did Amy Poehler finally get an award for her work as Leslie Knope on Parks and Rec, but freshman sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine took home a surprising win for Best Comedy/Musical TV Series, with Andy Samberg also earning a Best Actor award for his work on the show this year. While the ceremony was sadly low on Fey/Poehler bits (probably due to how long it took every winner to walk to the stage), the comedy duo still knocked it out of the park with their monologue, and Amy [...]

Fox Gives 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' a Full Season Order

Fox announced today that they've ordered nine more episodes of the Andy Samberg cop comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, bringing the show's total episode order for the first season to 22 and ensuring that it will be around for the whole season. Fox will also be airing a new episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine in a coveted post-Super Bowl slot, along with New Girl, in February.

Created by Parks and Recreation team Mike Schur and Dan Goor, Brooklyn Nine-Nine premiered on Fox last month and has been struggling in the ratings a little bit despite critical acclaim (it's our favorite new show of the season). While Brooklyn is underperforming a bit, [...]

Adam Sandler Made Quite an Impression at Andy Samberg's Wedding

The recently wedded Andy Samberg dropped by Conan last night, where he talked about his That's My Boy co-star Adam Sandler's eccentric appearance at the wedding. Below, he also shows off the bad-ass action movies he's trying to incorporate into his new show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Is the Most Promising New Comedy of the Season

It almost feels cliché at this point to explain how difficult it is to make a great TV pilot. The first episode of a sitcom has to accomplish a lot to succeed: simultaneously establishing the show's premise and tone while introducing the audience to all its characters and giving an indication of what a typical episode of the show will look like, not to mention all while being entertaining during those exposition-filled 22 minutes. The pilot for Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which premieres on Fox tonight, isn't perfect, but it's a consistently funny half-hour of TV that's brimming with potential for the future of the series.

Andy Samberg and Aziz Ansari Will Also Be Roasting James Franco

The list of comedians performing at Comedy Central's upcoming Roast of James Franco keeps getting more and more impressive. Andy Samberg and Aziz Ansari have both been added to the lineup, EW reports, joining previously announced roasters Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Nick Kroll, Natasha Leggero, Jeff Ross, Sarah Silverman, and roastmaster Seth Rogen. All in all, due to have having an Oscar-nominated actor as its guest of honor, this year's roast is attracting way higher-profile performers than the Comedy Central event usually does, with movie and TV stars filling the dais. The James Franco roast is set to take place in Los Angeles this Sunday, August 25th, [...]

NBC Is Remaking Andy Samberg's BBC Show 'Cuckoo'

NBC is remaking Cuckoo, the BBC show that originally starred Andy Samberg, according to Deadline. Samberg starred on the BBC Three series as an American hippie named Cuckoo who marries an British girl and moves in with her family back in the UK. The American version, which will be written by the original British writers Robin French and Kieron Quirke, is described as focusing on "the story of a middle-class family whose daughter comes back from a summer abroad married to a charming but infuriating hippie moron." It's unclear whether Samberg would be involved with the series; he's currently on Fox's beloved but ratings-challenged Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which might not make [...]

Patton Oswalt Will Play a Fire Marshall on 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

Guest star extraordinaire Patton Oswalt will drop by Fox's promising new sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine this season. Oswalt, whose guest turn on Parks and Recreation last season yielded this magic, will play a fire marshal named Boone on the freshman series, according to Entertainment Weekly. His Boone will be forced to work with Andy Samberg's Det. Jake Peralta, though the two are known to have a history. Brooklyn Nine-Nine was created by Parks producers Michael Schur and Dan Goor, and has featured guest stars like Fred Armisen and Andy Richter.

Andy Samberg and Jimmy Kimmel Compared Their Fasting Holidays

Andy Samberg dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, and they spent a few minutes comparing their obligatory religious fasting days and why Andy chose soccer over a Bar Mitzvah. They went on to discuss dreadlocks, weddings, Costco, and Samberg's new show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine; all that is below.
