Patton Oswalt Will Play a Fire Marshall on 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

Guest star extraordinaire Patton Oswalt will drop by Fox's promising new sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine this season. Oswalt, whose guest turn on Parks and Recreation last season yielded this magic, will play a fire marshal named Boone on the freshman series, according to Entertainment Weekly. His Boone will be forced to work with Andy Samberg's Det. Jake Peralta, though the two are known to have a history. Brooklyn Nine-Nine was created by Parks producers Michael Schur and Dan Goor, and has featured guest stars like Fred Armisen and Andy Richter.

Andy Samberg and Jimmy Kimmel Compared Their Fasting Holidays

Andy Samberg dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, and they spent a few minutes comparing their obligatory religious fasting days and why Andy chose soccer over a Bar Mitzvah. They went on to discuss dreadlocks, weddings, Costco, and Samberg's new show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine; all that is below.

'30 Rock's Dean Winters to Play Andy Samberg's Enemy on 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

Dean Winters, who you may know from Oz, Law & Order: SVU, or, most importantly, as Beeper King Dennis Duffy on 30 Rock has landed a new TV role. EW reports that Winters is set to guest star in an episode of Andy Samberg's new Fox cop comedy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He'll play Warren Pembroke, who works for the Major Crimes Unit and is Samberg's character's rival. Other guest stars lined up for Brooklyn Nine-Nine's first season (premiering September 17th) include Kid Cudi and Fred Armisen.

Highlights from The Lonely Island's Reddit AMA

To promote their latest record, The Wack Album, comedy rap group The Lonely Island took to Reddit to take questions from strangers. The Dudes opened the Reddit with a message to fans and an offer of advice that more people should have taken them up on: "Anything personal going on with you reddit? We're great with advice. 2 out of the 3 of us have made love with a woman before and can talk about details (we WILL NOT kiss and tell, but we will talk about details)."

We went through and compiled the best responses from The Lonely Island's AMA, which – believe it or not – [...]

The Lonely Island Announces the Tracklist for 'The Wack Album'

Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer's musical comedy outfit The Lonely Island announced the tracklist to their newest release, The Wack Album(due out June 11th), and it's as jam-packed with exciting special guests as their previous albums. From Billie Joe Armstrong to Hugh Jackman, Robyn to Kristen Wiig, it's an eclectic group of guests, with a mix of songs featured on SNL ("YOLO" featuring Adam Levine and Kendrick Lamar, "3-Way" featuring Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga) and new stuff ("You've Got the Look" featuring Hugh Jackman and Kristen Wiig, "Spring Break Anthem"). Check out the track listing and video/audio of the songs that have been released [...]

What to Look Forward to in 'SNL' Season 39

Season 39 of SNL kicks off this Saturday night with Tina Fey, Arcade Fire, and a mouthful of new names for Don Pardo to read off in the opening credits. After several seasons of little turnover, the cast is experiencing a major upheaval, with six — six! — new cast members to replace the departed Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis, and Fred Armisen. This is the largest staff hire in 18 years, tying the 1995-1996 season's addition of Jim Breuer, Will Ferrell, Darrell Hammond, David Koechner, Cheri Oteri, and Nancy Walls. After the show's dismal 1994-1995 season, which saw near cancellation and the firing/resignation of 12 cast members, those six were [...]

Michael Schur Talks About Andy Samberg Playing a More Grounded Character in 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

Michael Schur and Dan Goor, the creators of the upcoming Brooklyn Nine-Nine, talked to Alan Sepinwall about the show and what it's like taking a goofy sketch writer/actor like Andy Samberg and casting him in a more grounded sitcom. I think he likes goofing around a lot. Like he looks goofy in three-minute videos. And there were a lot of similarities i between what the kind of thing he was looking to do and the kind of thing Amy was looking to do when we started Parks and Rec. You work at SNL for seven years and you have a great time. And you do a lot of [...]

Andy Samberg, Mike Schur, and the Rest of the Gang on What to Expect from 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

Featuring an impressive cast led by Andy Samberg and created by Parks and Rec's Mike Schur and Dan Goor, Fox's Brooklyn Nine-Nine is far and away the most promising new comedy of the fall. The cast and crew spoke to reporters today at the TCA press tour, explaining what to expect from the series. Here are some highlights (via Variety, E Online and Zap2It):

"This is not like Police Squad, as big a fan as I am of Police Squad. This is a workplace comedy that happens to be set in a police precinct, is the simplest way to put it. The idea is that they're real cops [...]

Talking to The Lonely Island About 'The Wack Album', 'SNL', and Why They Haven't Done a Live Show Yet

Within months of The Lonely Island joining Saturday Night Live back in 2005, the trio – made up of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone – marked a new era in the show's history with the viral hit Lazy Sunday, kicking off a run of Digital Shorts that would include Emmy-winning Dick in a Box and Grammy-nominated I'm on a Boat.

All three have since left the show, working independently on their own big-name projects. Samberg has starred in films like That's My Boy and Celeste and Jesse Forever, and will be seen in the up-coming Fox sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Schaffer directed the group's first film, cult favorite Hot Rod, and 2012's The Watch. [...]

Watch a Lyric Video for The Lonely Island's New Song "Semicolon"

Here's the latest song from The Lonely Island as part of their series Wack Wednesdays in which they're dropping a new song or video every Wednesday until the release of their new album, The Wack Album. Called "Semicolon," the track finds Lonely Islanders Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer backed up by Solange, and it may just be the best grammar-related rap song ever.

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Is the Most Promising New Comedy of the Season

It almost feels cliché at this point to explain how difficult it is to make a great TV pilot. The first episode of a sitcom has to accomplish a lot to succeed: simultaneously establishing the show's premise and tone while introducing the audience to all its characters and giving an indication of what a typical episode of the show will look like, not to mention all while being entertaining during those exposition-filled 22 minutes. The pilot for Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which premieres on Fox tonight, isn't perfect, but it's a consistently funny half-hour of TV that's brimming with potential for the future of the series.

Andy Samberg and Aziz Ansari Will Also Be Roasting James Franco

The list of comedians performing at Comedy Central's upcoming Roast of James Franco keeps getting more and more impressive. Andy Samberg and Aziz Ansari have both been added to the lineup, EW reports, joining previously announced roasters Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Nick Kroll, Natasha Leggero, Jeff Ross, Sarah Silverman, and roastmaster Seth Rogen. All in all, due to have having an Oscar-nominated actor as its guest of honor, this year's roast is attracting way higher-profile performers than the Comedy Central event usually does, with movie and TV stars filling the dais. The James Franco roast is set to take place in Los Angeles this Sunday, August 25th, [...]

Watch The Lonely Island Perform "YOLO" with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots

Andy Samberg was on Fallon yesterday and ended the show performing the song "YOLO" with his fellow Lonely Island bandmates, Jimmy Fallon, and The Roots joining him for one heck of a supergroup.

Watch the Lonely Island's Last "Wack Wednesdays" Video, "Spell It Out"

For the past month, musical comedy outfit The Lonely Island has been releasing a new video or song every Wednesday as part of their promotion "Wack Wednesdays," and this is the last one seeing as their new release, The Wack Album, comes out Tuesday. And the full thing that Andy Samberg is spelling in this video is "Dude that has sex with pigs for money but only as a side thing right now,i'm just short on cash and have irons in the fire but in this economy it'll have to do my name is Lenny."
