Watch Andy Samberg's Independent Spirit Awards Monologue

Chelsea Peretti and Andre Braugher Join Andy Samberg's Cop Show

Stand-up/Parks and Rec writer Chelsea Peretti and Men of a Certain Age's Andre Braugher have just been cast in a new Fox pilot starring Andy Samberg, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The untitled show was written by Parks and Recreation co-creator Mike Schur and writer Dan Goor, and it follows a diverse group of police officers in a precinct on the edge of New York City. Peretti will play Gina the civilian office manager at the station, and Braugher's character is Captain Holt, who just got his own command after 30 years on the force. Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, and Stephanie Beatriz are also set to star [...]

Fun Thing to Buy of the Day: 'Celeste and Jesse Forever'

Last summer’s comedy-drama Celeste and Jesse Forever, written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack and starring Jones and Andy Samberg as the titular separated couple, is out on DVD and Blu-Ray today. The movie also features Elijah Wood, Emma Roberts, and The Mindy Project’s Chris Messina. If pilot season works in Samberg’s favor then we’ll be able to see both him and Jones in Mike Schur shows. Until that happens, Celeste and Jesse can tide you over.

Terry Crews to Star in Andy Samberg's Fox Pilot; Phil Lord and Chris Miller Will Direct

Actor and former NFL player Terry Crews has just been added to the cast of Andy Samberg's untitled Fox pilot, according to Deadline. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the team behind 21 Jump Street and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, have also joined up to direct the episode. The addition of these three adds a lot of heat to what's already looking like one of the season's most promising pilots. Crews, who starred in TBS's Are We There Yet? and recurs on The Newsroom, received three pilot offers before choosing the show, and Lord and Miller are highly sought-after feature directors who rarely have time to work [...]

Andy Samberg's Fox Cop Show Has a Name: 'Brooklyn 99'

One of the most eagerly-awaited pilots this season for comedy fans has been an untitled Fox cop show that stars Andy Samberg and is co-created by Parks and Rec's Mike Schur. Now, it looks like the untitled series has a title: Brooklyn 99. USA Today was first to print the show's title last month. Co-created by Schur and Parks writer Dan Goor, Brooklyn 99 stars Samberg as the lead detective Jake Peralta, who watches over a diverse group of cops at a precinct at the edge of New York City. Terry Crews, Andre Braugher, Chelsea Peretti, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, and Joe Lo Truglio make up the rest [...]

Andy Samberg Talks About His Favorite 'SNL' Sketch that Never Aired

Andy Samberg went on Conan last night to promote his stint hosting the Independent Spirit Awards (which air this Saturday on IFC), and he and Conan got to talk a little bit about their experiences writing for SNL. Samberg's favorite sketch he wrote that never made it to air was about a guy who desperately wants people to come to the bathroom with him. Flimsier SNL sketches were developed into movies in the early '90s, so maybe it would have actually worked.

Two Actresses Join Andy Samberg and Mike Schur's Cop Show Pilot

Andy Samberg and Parks and Rec co-creator Mike Schur are making a pilot for an untitled Fox comedy about a police precinct on the edge of New York City, and the show just added two new cast members this week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actresses Stephanie Beatriz (pictured, left) and Melissa Fumero (right) have each signed on to be regulars on the potential series, joining a cast that also includes Samberg and Terry Crews. Beatriz, best known for a recent guest spot as Sofia Vergara's sister on Modern Family, will play Meghan, a tough and frightening police officer who scares both criminals and the other cops. Fumero, [...]

'SNL' Review: Adam Levine Hosts a Stellar Night

It seems SNL has struck gold with booking music stars as hosts. Despite my long-standing pet peeve of musical guests making cameos in sketches — No one wants to watch Cee Lo read cue cards! — I have been proven wrong, again and again, as pop stars and rock legends have strapped on their host shoes and presided over far better episodes than most athletes, comedians, or A-listers have. While I was never sold on the argument that musicians' live-concert backgrounds causally make them natural live sketch performers, musicians are often less likely to let their nerves get the best of them, and they typically bring a fun-loving charisma and game-faced hustle [...]

Andy Samberg and Mike Schur's Cop Comedy Ordered to Pilot by Fox

The Fox network just ordered a pilot for a cop comedy starring Andy Samberg and created by Parks and Recreation co-creator Mike Schur and Parks writer/producer Dan Goor. Samberg signed on to the show last year, but now it's one step closer to making it to your TV screens this fall. Samberg is playing a lead detective in the untitled series, overseeing a diverse group of detectives at the edge of New York City. This is the first pilot order Fox has give for the 2013-14 TV season, and it's a strong contender to get picked up to series. Stay tuned as the supporting roles in [...]

Andy Samberg's Cop Show Keeps Sounding Better and Better – Joe Lo Truglio Joins the Cast

Joe Lo Truglio, of The State, Reno 911!, and Superbad fame, has been added to the cast of Andy Samberg's new Fox pilot, cementing its status as the most anticipated comedy pilot of 2013. Lo Truglio is the final series regular to join the untitled New York cop show, created by Parks and Recreation co-creator/showrunner Mike Schur and longtime Parks writer Dan Goor. He'll be playing Charles, a divorced veteran detective who looks up to top cop Jake (Samberg). The rest of the impressive cast is made up of Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris), Andre Braugher (Men of a Certain Age), stand-up Chelsea Peretti, and relative newcomers [...]

Here's Your First Glimpse of Andy Samberg as an Independent Spirit Awards Host

Andy Samberg is hosting the Independent Spirit Awards on IFC on Saturday, February 23rd, the day before the Oscars. Here's his first promo for the event, which could serve as the basis for a pretty compelling independent film itself. Look for Bear Legs to be up for some prizes at the 2014 Independent Spirit Awards.

'Cuckoo', Andy Samberg's BBC Sitcom, Coming Back for Another Season

Cuckoo, the BBC Three sitcom in which Andy Samberg plays an American hippie slacker who's the nightmare of his father-in-law, was the most popular new show on the network last year when it premiered. So it's not a huge surprise that it looks like it'll be returning for a second series later this year. It's not clear whether or not Samberg will return, but with British sitcoms generally having six-episode seasons, compared to 22 for their American counterparts, it would certainly be a much smaller commitment than playing a regular role on, say, Parks and Rec.
