Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone's upcoming film Michelle Darnell just added a superstar to its cast. Variety reports that Peter Dinklage has been cast in the movie, which is based on one of McCarthy's original characters from The Groundlings and centers on "a titan of industry who is sent to prison after she’s caught for insider trading. When she emerges ready to rebrand herself as America’s latest sweetheart, not everyone she screwed over is so quick to forgive and forget." Dinklage will play the antagonist in the film, though details on his role have not been announced. Universal reportedly landed on Dinklage after considering Sandra Bullock, Jon [...]
Variety has a cover story on Melissa McCarthy and her husband/frequent collaborator Ben Falcone, that has some new info on some of the pair's upcoming projects.
McCarthy will be starring in Michelle Darnell, a comedy that was announced last year but has kept its plot under wraps until now. Michelle Darnell follows "a self-help inspiration speaker (a la Suze Orman or Oprah) who goes to jail for insider trading, and struggles to reinvent herself as America’s new [...]
Ben Falcone was on Conan last night, talking about how he found himself having sandwich sex with his wife, Melissa McCarthy, on the set of Bridesmaids. He described it as a covert operation, which ended with him having turkey meat on his nipples. Yep, that's totally how all covert operations end because turkey meat makes your nipples sleepy, because of the tryptophan, and there's just no better way to come down from a week of shooting people and wearing really realistic masks that look like other people's faces and having your letters blow up after reading them.
I'd like to imagine she still had her tiara on when she took the conference call. Deadline reports Melissa McCarthy sold a sitcom to CBS. Co-written by husband Ben Falcone, the multi-camera show follows a woman who "has a spectacular midlife crisis." McCarthy and Falcone will co-executive produce the show, as McCarthy is currently busy killing it on Mike & Molly apparently, and cannot star in all shows and movies as would be our most fervent desire.
