Over 130,000 people attend Comic-Con each year and about 90,000 of those people choke to death (give or take 90,000). Bob's Burgers wants to bring that number down with the help of this choking first aid poster. Tips include: "Keeping the head titled and the mouth open, pinch the victim's nose to make him look more elegant, then say 'all board the smooch train.'" The posters are meant to promote the Bob's Burgers panel that takes place Friday at 4 p.m. and will be given out at Fox's booth. However, knowing Bob's Burgers, this is all probably a viral marketing stunt to promote their new Artichoke Your Chicken Burger (comes [...]
As the first place network, FOX is different place than NBC and their predictable schedule suggests as much. Tuesday becomes their night of sitcoms, with the only somewhat comedic Glee moving to Thursdays. Raising Hope moves to 8:00, which is perfect for its family focus, and the hotly anticipated The Mindy Project goes right where it should be at 9:30, post New Girl. There isn't much to discuss, as it’s a pretty safe schedule. Check it out below. What do you think? Are these your go-to Tuesday plans?
First things first: Eugene Mirman's production company is called Rich Pregnant Teenager, which is the premier A+ best name for anything. Second things second: all of his characters are named Eugene, or some variation thereof. Third, fourth, and fifth things third, fourth, and fifth: go read this interview to hear his thoughts on the critical warming to Bob's Burgers, the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival's move to Seattle, and why he's going to stick with Time Warner even after taking out an ad complaining about them.
The writers of Bob's Burgers have started a blog, and they're kicking things off by posting some script covers from season 2's table reads. I'm most excited for "Mutiny on the Windbreak." What about you?
Fox's midseason schedule is out, with new comedy Breaking In premiering before New Girl on March 6 as part of a 2-hour Tuesday sitcom block. Meanwhile, Napoleon Dynamite and the new season of Bob's Burgers will join the Sunday Animation Domination lineup on Jan. 15 and March 11, respectively.
Seth MacFarlane's pockets are getting even more full: Fox just renewed both Family Guy and American Dad for their eleventh and eighth seasons, respectively. It's not all good news for MacFarlane, however, as Fox has decided to hold off on renewing The Cleveland Show until its fourth season starts to air this fall. Oh man, so he'll potentially only have two animated series on Fox on Sundays? Someone send the guy a sympathy edible arrangement.
In non-MacFarlane-related Fox animation news, Bob's Burgers writer Scott Jacobson confirmed that it has also been picked up for another season, its third. Burgers all around!
Ratings for Bob's Burgers were up 11% last night after a non-amazing season two premiere. Maybe you didn't know the Belchers were back on the air? Because they are. And you can watch them.
We talk about Community, Parks and Recreation, and Louie pretty much on a daily basis here at Splitsider. Ask any 10 random visitors to the ‘site, and they’ll likely say one of those three is their favorite current sitcom on TV. So, for the sake of that disappointed, “of course it is/they are…” feeling you get when you see the Beatles at the top of a best bands of all-time list, I didn’t include the two NBC sitcoms and the FX whatever-it-is. There has to be at least SOME intrigue. So, I present to you, the 10 best sitcoms of 2011…not named Community, Parks and Rec, or Louie.
Fox ordered nine more episodes of Bob's Burgers today, meaning that the second season will have a full 22 episodes. Just think how many pun-based burger specials that is!
A few hours ago, John Roberts tweeted that he's recording an episode of Bob's Burgers tomorrow with Jon Hamm. Assuming this episode won't air until the Fall, this gives the writing staff a few months to think of the perfect Jon Hamm inspired hamburger specials (or Hammburger specials). Here are a few to get them started: Barak O-Hamm-a, 21 Hamms, Happy as a Hamm, Bull Dur-Hamm, The Hoover Hamm, Viet-Hamm War, Midterm Ex-Hamm, St. Louis Hamms, Hamm Yankees, Silence of the Hamms, and Frankly, my dear, I don't give a Hamm.
For Fox's 25th Anniversary special, the folks over at Bob's Burgers made this delightful 70 second clip. Because, I assume, Fox had to make room for a lengthy Melrose Place montage, a mere 10 seconds of it was actually shown on TV. Well, that's what the internet is for! Well, it's for porn and racist comments filled with misspellings, mostly, but stuff cut from TV has a place here too.
Caution: after watching this video of the Bob's Burgers cast recording their voice overs, you may never look at Bob Belcher without seeing H. Jon Benjamin in blue eyeshadow. Conversely, every time I try to look at Kristen Schaal in this video I see phantom pink bunny ears. And sometimes I just see them floating in the air. Waving at me. Excuse me, I have some business to attend to on WebMD.
- Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally will all guest star on Bob's Burgers this season. Aziz plays "a geeky teenage gamer who mentors Bob on a game called Burger Boss in exchange for Bob’s help with a bully problem." In a separate episode, Offerman and Mullally will play "aging, married hippie farmers who wind up hiring Bob’s kids…as 'weed pickers.'" Bob's Burgers, you've done it again! ("Done it" = procured awesome, funny guest stars. Spelling that out doesn't sound as declarative and snappy, weirdly enough.)
- Sacha Baron Cohen has been cast as Thenardier in the movie musical version of Les Miserables. With comedy talent [...]
