CBS Passes on 'Beverly Hills Cop' Series, Pilot May Be Shopped to Other Networks

CBS has said no to a TV version of the 1984 Eddie Murphy action-comedy Beverly Hills Cop. The network commissioned a pilot for an hour-long procedural based on the film last year, but the show didn't make it on CBS's Fall 2013 schedule, which the network is unveiling this week. The pilot was created by The Shield's Shawn Ryan and it centered on Axel Foley's son, Aaron Foley (played by Brandon T. Jackson from Tropic Thunder and Big Momma's House 3), who is following in his father's footsteps by doing fish-out-of-water detective work on the west side of Los Angeles.

Kevin Pollak Cast in CBS's 'Beverly Hills Cop' Reboot

Last month, CBS greenlit a pilot for a TV version of the popular '80s movie series Beverly Hills Cop, and now comedian/actor Kevin Pollak has been cast in the show in a supporting role, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show, also titled Beverly Hills Cop, will star Brandon T. Jackson as Aaron Foley, the son of the franchise's original protagonist Axel Foley. Created by The Shield's Shawn Ryan, the Beverly Hills Cop show is described as "an hour-long crime procedural with comedic elements. We reported last month that CBS had purchased a new TV version of Beverly Hills Cop that follows Eddie Murphy's character Axel Foley's son, Aaron Foley, and now, we know who Aaron Foley is gonna be: comedian and actor Brandon T. Jackson. You may know Jackson from movies like Tropic Thunder, Percy Jackson, and the third Big Momma's House movie, where he played the (step)son of another iconic character, Martin Lawrence's Malcolm "Big Momma" Turner.
