Here's the newest installment of In Bed With Joan with guest Brett Gelman, in which he and Joan chat about everything from UCB to his Funny or Die character Mr. Celebrity to a very special bar mitzvah gift he got as a kid.
Adult Swim has long been committed to airing some of the most innovative, writer-driven comedies on TV, and that trend continues with Dinner with Friends with Brett Gelman and Friends, a half-hour one-off special from comedian Brett Gelman and director Jason Woliner that debuts tonight at midnight on the network. Gelman and Woliner have been collaborating for years now, most recently on the Adult Swim's show Eagleheart, which Woliner co-writes and directs and Gelman acts on, and with Dinner with Friends, they've created something that's every bit as funny, dark, and fast-paced as Eagleheart is, and something completely unlike anything else on television.
Adult Swim is set to premiere a new TV special later this month from Brett Gelman and Jason Woliner (Eagleheart), Splitsider has learned. Called Dinner With Friends With Brett Gelman and Friends, the 30-minute special will air Thursday, April 24th, at midnight. Written by Gelman and Woliner and was directed by Woliner, the special stars Gelman as himself, inviting his Hollywood friends over for "a lively night of dining, tasty showbiz chit-chat, and psychological torture." Gelman's dinner guests include Dale Dickey, Gilbert Gottfried, Fred Melamed, Alison Pill, Lance Reddick, and Alex Karpovsky as themselves, and Anthony Atamanuik as Joey Fillipiano.
To whet your appetite, here's the last project Brett Gelman and [...]
Tim & Eric Week continues on the YouTube channel JASH. Yesterday, they debuted the duo's new web series Tim & Eric Go Pro, and today, they've released this video, "Tim and Gelman Have Lunch," in which comedians Tim Heidecker and Brett Gelman have lunch and a conversation together. It's in four parts. The rest are embedded below. The video is a sequel to a 2011 short that Heidecker and Gelman made (also below), so now you can watch these two weirdos have two meals together.
Currently in the midst of its second season, Adult Swim’s 11-minute crime-comedy Eagleheart has quickly emerged as one of the fastest and funniest shows on TV. For the uninitiated, Eagleheart stars Chris Elliott, Maria Thayer (Strangers with Candy), and Brett Gelman (Comedy Bang Bang) as a trio of sociopathic U.S. Marshals who wind up in all kinds of exceedingly strange and hyper-violent scenarios week to week. Eagleheart is put out by Conan O’Brien’s production company and written by longtime Conan writers Michael Koman and Andrew Weinberg and Human Giant's Jason Woliner, who manage to cram a full 30 minutes worth of story into each 11-minute installment.
Here's a segment from last night's @midnight with guests Paul F. Tompkins, Heather Anne Campbell, and Brett Gelman, in which they suggest the perfect captions for a few very ridiculous engagement photos involving unicorns, giant hamster balls, and bald eagles.
Tomorrow night, Adult Swim is airing Dinner with Friends with Brett Gelman and Friends, a new half-hour special starring comedian Brett Gelman and directed by Jason Woliner, who co-wrote the script with Gelman. Beginning as a talk show Gelman hosts over a meal with six Hollywood actors a la Jon Favreau's Dinner for Five, Dinner with Friendswith Brett Gelman and Friends quickly takes a turn and descends into an evening of psychological torture. Like Eagleheart, the Adult Swim show Gelman acts on and Woliner is a writer, director, and producer on, Dinner with Friends is fast-paced, funny, and unlike anything else on TV.

In the past I’ve covered a number of panel discussions held at the Paley Center for New Media ranging from 30 Rock to [...]
Comedy duo Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim have a new six-day web series starting today and running daily until Sunday. Here's the first episode of the show, called Tim & Eric Go Pro. It comes from JASH, a new YouTube channel featuring original content from Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, and Reggie Watts. This is Tim & Eric Week over at JASH. In addition to Tim & Eric Go Pro, a faux-reality show that sees the duo strapping Go Pro cameras ("the camera of choice for surfers, skaters and other extreme athletes") to their heads for a week, there will be more Tim & Eric stuff deployed throughout the week. At [...]
When you hear a sketch called "Jewish Santa Is Coming," you probably think you know what you're going to get: a Rabbi dressed up like Santa, making a lot of references to dreidels and yarmulkes. But no, not this one. I'm not even sure how Santa is Jewish here. It's just Brett Gelman dressed up as Santa, being Brett Gelman.
Here's a web video called "Little Neighbors" starring Brett Gelman and Jon Daly and made by Video Lou, a fictional character created by Alessandro Minoli and Sean Donnelly who makes videos in his van and is the mind behind the recurring TripTank sketch "Jeff & Some Aliens." If you appreciate the perfect mix of funny, bizarre, disturbing, and things created by fictional characters, crank up the volume because this video was made for you.
Last week, Adult Swim announced that they're premiering a new special called Dinner with Friends with Brett Gelman and Friends that Brett Gelman and Jason Woliner (Eagleheart) made together, and here's a teaser trailer for the special. It's a Dinner for Five-esque conversation show (featuring guests Dale Dickey, Gilbert Gottfried, Fred Melamed, Alison Pill, Lance Reddick, and Alex Karpovsky) that takes a frightening turn and devolves into Gelman psychologically torturing his guests.
There's a pilot at FX that's lining up one hell of an impressive cast of comedy people. Deadline reports that Jenny Slate (SNL, Parks and Rec) and Brett Gelman (Go On, Eagleheart) have signed on to star in the untitled pilot, which already has Nat Faxon (Ben and Kate) and Judy Greer (Arrested Development) as its leads. The project was created by Andrew Gurland, who wrote The Last Exorcism and The Virginity Hit. The pilot follows a married couple (Faxon, Greer) who enter into an open relationship to save their marriage. Slate and Gelman are both playing friends to Faxon's character. It sounds like an interesting premise, but [...]
I cried twice while watching the Go On pilot. This doesn't mean two tears; I'm talking about two distinct cries. Sure, yes, I'm prone to crying at things (I'm still not sure what the cast of Friday Night Lights looks like, as they were always water-blurred and left looking like Matisse paintings) but, regardless of my proclivities, these two moments would generally be considered honestly felt and honestly sad. Tonight, at 11:04pm, on NBC, Go On is set to make its debut to the American public. It won't offer a respite from the overly weepy Olympic games, what with its plethora of personal interest stories; no, it will continue to [...]
