Jesse Plemons and Sissy Spacek to Star in 'SNL' Writer Chris Kelly's Directorial Debut

SNL writer Chris Kelly is turning his life into a Hollywood movie. The Wrap reports that Adam and Naomi Scott are producing a film by Kelly with Jesse Plemons (Friday Night Lights) and Sissy Spacek set to star. Titled Other People, the film will be Kelly's directorial debut and serve as an autobiographical look at "a gay Saturday Night Live writer who returns home to Sacramento to be with his mother (Spacek), who is in the final stages of terminal cancer. While home, he struggles to deal with a painful recent breakup and reconcile with his conservative father's disapproving attitude regarding his sexuality."

Kelly has been an [...]

It's That Episode 9: Chris Kelly/'CSI' – Targets of Obsession

On "It's That Episode," Craig Rowin (UCB Theatre) invites guests over to his apartment to watch any episode of any TV show they want. They discuss the episode and a bunch of other crap. Episodes are released every Monday.

Craig and Chris Kelly (Saturday Night Live, Onion News Network) watch the episode of CSI where Justin Bieber guest stars and gets shot by police a million times. Chris and Craig discuss how thirsty Justin Bieber was on set, guess why the hell Bieber was on this show, and get super duper bored talking about CSI.

President Bush Announces the Downfall of His Greatest Enemy, the Location Of The Taco Bar

In this Funny Or Die video starring Will Ferrell, cowritten by Adam McKay and Chris Kelly, former President Bush stops by the Sizzler to confirm that his greatest nemesis was finally subdued with a garden hose and rake, before being wrapped in a bathroom mat and thrown in the neighbor's yard in accordance with local custom. Bush admits that it takes a committed leader to unite his white and Mexican staff toward one common goal, particularly when said leader should be spending his golden years relaxing on the toilet with an US Magazine. Oh, and on a completely unrelated note, Osama bin Laden is dead.

Watch a Nice Long Interview with Seth Meyers and the 'SNL' Writers

Last week, Reserve Channel released a never-before-seen hour-long interview with Louis C.K. at the Paley Center, and now here's one they just put out with Saturday Night Live writers Seth Meyers, John Mulaney, Chris Kelly, Marika Sawyer, Colin Jost, and Erik Kenward. It's an hour-plus chat that digs deep into SNL's writing process and gives you a rare look at the faces of the weirdos who write the show (except for Seth Meyers, his face is on the show all the time).

Hitchin' a Ride: John Murray Drives SNL's Chris Kelly Around New York City

What happens when you give 30 Rock's/UCB's John Murray a shiny new Ford Focus and then have him go give rides to his comedy buddies? That's the question we're answering with our new series Hitchin' a Ride.

In episode one, John swings by the Brooklyn apartment of SNL writer Chris Kelly to drive him into midtown Manhattan for a panel he was doing at the Paley Center — a panel you can check out right here. They had a chance to talk about Chris's time at both SNL and The Onion and also John stopped to buy a giant stuffed giraffe for some reason.

It's Funny Because It's Awwww: The 5-Year-Old Screenwriter Behind Fast Five

In a video conceived by Chris Kelly, the kindergartner who wrote Fast Five chats with The Onion's Today Now! about his new action-packed film. Though he may not be old enough to not pee his pants when he's asleep, Chris Morgan knows what American audiences want: cars that go boom, Vin Diesel's big muscles and trains with holes in them. I can only assume he wrote the previous four The Fast And The Furious movies as well. Missing teeth, taking off his shoes on-camera and falling asleep mid-sentence seems par for the course for most screenwriters, but somehow Morgan manages to make it work. I look forward [...]

This Week In Web Videos: "How to Make a Situation About You"

I’ve said it before. I’ll say it again. Sometimes, in web series, simple is better. UCBComedy's “How to Make a Situation About You” confirms that hilarity can come out of smart, small ideas. The key to making short pieces successful? Clarity of message.

It’s easier to write a five-minute-per-episode, arc-heavy web opus than it is a sub two-minute idea good enough to have staying power. To be quick and memorable and quality demands a hyper focus on the single salient element of a funny idea, the nugget that cuts through all the fluff to the core of the most illustrative beats. Few attempt simple because it’s risky. It forces [...]

Funny or Die/Onion News Network's Chris Kelly Hired as a Writer at SNL

SNL has just hired another new writer for the upcoming new season: Funny or Die's Chris Kelly. Kelly left a staff job as a writer/director at the Onion News Network this spring (something he wrote about here on Splitsider) to head west to be a writer at Funny or Die (something I recently wrote about for GQ). Now, he's heading back east to start his new gig at SNL in NYC next week.

As you may recall, he'll be joining CollegeHumor's Sarah Schneider as the season's other new writer. So with these two hires, SNL is bringing in former staffers from the three biggest original comedy [...]

Serena Williams Sex Tips

Serena Williams Sex Tips UCBcomedy.com

Original UCB member Matt Besser was tapped by Comedy Central to do a new sketch show pilot, and what he came up with was This Show Will Get You High. It wasn't picked up, unfortunately, but now Comedy Central is prepping to air the pilot a few times in the middle of the night. Luckily, the individual sketches are starting to pop up online so you don't need to wait until 4am to see them.

This sketch, written by Besser and Onion News Network writer Chris Kelly, makes me instinctively cross my legs.
