Chris Parnell Channeled Dr. Spaceman on Last Night's 'Conan'

Last night, Conan writer Deon Cole had a few things to say about a recent study's conclusion that sex makes people smarter, but Chris Parnell hit pause on Deon's act to inform the audience of a serious issue called MacDaddy Fronting. If Dr. Spaceman were there, he'd just prescribe Cole some of those purple pills from Peru.

Jessica Walter, Chris Parnell Read Filthy Craigslist Ads At Eugene Mirman Fest

Hey! Sometimes you just really, really need to get on the M43. Lucille Bluth and Dr. Spacemen stopped by the Archer Variety Hour at Eugene Mirman's Comedy Festival this weekend to read ads from the deepest underbelly of human existence, aka Craigslist. In addition to being hilarious, they're also getting the word out about the growing trend of shrunken pet head amulets. I prefer mine with a leather strap; it looks classy and rustic!

Chris Parnell Explains Deon Cole's Dick Joke

The always-delightful Chris Parnell dropped by Conan last night to help Deon Cole out by elaborating on a crude penis joke he made about the iPhone 5. Parnell goes into elaborate scientific detail to explain exactly how the iPhone 5's panorama mode makes it possible for Cole to photograph his large penis, using egghead terms like "aspect ratio," "field of view," and "barrel distortion." Chris Parnell should just hang out with immature high school guys to explain their terrible dick jokes with big words because this video proves he can make even the most basic sex joke sound super classy.

The Lost Weekend Update Anchors

Weekend Update is by far the longest running segment in Saturday Night Live's history, with the anchor position being one of the most coveted gigs on the show. Since the fake news sketch debuted in the show’s very first episode (then hosted by Chevy Chase), it’s been featured in just about every episode of the show (except for during the Lorne Michaels-less era in the early 80’s when it was retitled SNL Newsbreak and Saturday Night News). Weekend Update holds an important place in comedic history in that it served as the spiritual predecessor to other pieces of faux-journalism that came to dominate American comedy in the 21st century [...]

Chris Parnell And Ana Gasteyer Make To Perfect, Plastic Couple on Suburgatory

Because no one, but no one, does "normal with an underlying core of batshit crazy" like these two: Chris Parnell joins Suburgatory for a reoccurring role as submissive husband Fred Shay, married to Ana Gasteyer's high-strung domestic goddess Sheila. According to E!, Parnell's character "learned everything he knows about marriage from the Yes, Dear Wikipedia page," which, now that I look at it, really has more information about syndication and international airings than helpful marital advice. The couple lives next door to the leads, newly arrived city folk Jeremy Sisto and Jane Levy, where they will terrify them with their creepy suburban perfection.

Review Roundup: The Five-Year Engagement Engages But for Too Long

It was hard to get a sense in the trailer if Five-Year Engagement, the new film from Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, is going to be good. The pedigree is there both in front and behind the camera but the trailer included a pretty awful "I heard that black pianese are much bigger" joke. So what have the critics been saying?

Currently, it's at a 60% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 59 on Metacritic, which is definitively in the pretty good range. (In comparison, Forgetting Sarah Marshall clocked in at 84% and 67 respectively.) What's interesting is most of the negative reviews and positive reviews [...]

Saturday Night's Children: Chris Parnell (1998-2006)

Saturday Night Live has been home to over a hundred cast members throughout the past 35 years. In our column Saturday Night’s Children, we present the history, talent, and best sketches of one SNL cast member each week for your viewing, learning, and laughing pleasure.

Chris Parnell has a unique Saturday Night Live record in that he is one of the longest-tenured cast members, and the only one to be fired twice. During his run from 1998-2006 he brought an excitable energy and emcee presence to SNL that helped the show transition into the new millennium, whether as the perfect game show host, hillbilly, rapper, pervert, or news anchor. The Dogfather Trailer: Why, Chris Parnell? Why?

My god, what the hell is this? And why is Chris Parnell in it? I will say that I'm impressed that they managed to cram a dude stepping on a rake, a moose head falling onto a guys head, and a dog riding a skateboard into one trailer. That one takes some effort.
