Christoph Waltz Sings His Heartbreaking Rendition of the 'Sesame Street' Theme Song

Christoph Waltz is a big fan of Sesame Street, but not for the reasons you might think: "It's so trenchant, it's raw, it's full of despair, it's poignant, deep … the theme song alone, it haunts me." As a special treat, Waltz shared his take on the Sesame Street song with the Jimmy Kimmel Live audience, and it's truly a work of existential misery.

Christoph Waltz Will Host 'SNL' February 16th with Alabama Shakes

Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz will host SNL on February 16th, with Southern rock band Alabama Shakes as musical guest. It's the first time on the show for both Waltz and the band, and the show will come just a week ahead of the Oscars ceremony, where Waltz is up for Best Supporting Actor for his part in Django. Alabama Shakes recently received three Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist, for their acclaimed debut album, Boys & Girls.  SNL's next new episode will be on February 9th, with Justin Bieber pulling double-duty as host and musical guest, making Christoph Waltz the second host in a row who's constantly [...]

'SNL' Review: Christoph Waltz Ist Fantastisch

One thing that has persisted through the undercurrents of SNL's humor is an ironic fascination of German culture. From the celebration of avant garde in Sprockets to the arrogance and vanity of (technically Austrian) bodybuilders Hanz and Franz — as well as the running gag of Liz Lemon's nerdy fluency in German on 30 RockSNL and its cohorts have depicted exactly the German qualities that host Christoph Waltz reflected last Saturday night: charming, precise, deliberate… and yes, a little unnerving.

Such qualities made SNL's first native-German-speaker a natural host. Waltz's many talents acquired from an upbringing in a theater family — singing, dancing, character work — gave [...]

'Modern Family's Ty Burrell Replaces Christoph Waltz in the 'Muppets' Sequel

Last month, Inglorious Basterds' most charismatic Nazi, Christoph Waltz, was in talks to play the villain in the new Muppets movie, but those negotiations have broken down. Now, The Hollywood Reporter says that goofy Modern Family dad Ty Burrell will be taking over the role, that of an evil Interpol agent. Burrell is currently the only human star attached to the movie, but plenty of supporting roles and cameos have yet to be cast. James Bobin and Nick Stoller, who worked on the previous Muppets film, are returning to write the sequel, with Bobin directing this one too. This probably isn't the first time Ty Burrell and [...]

Fred Armisen and Christoph Waltz Want You to Watch This Week's 'SNL'

Somebody just rose to the top of the Portlandia Season 4 dream guest list.

Christoph Waltz Will Be a Muppet Villain

Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz is close to signing on for a substantial role in the new Muppets movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Waltz is in talks to play an Interpol inspector, one of the few major human characters in the new movie (besides a million cameos). Other human roles that have yet to be filled are that of a "Russian femme fatale" and a "male lead 'whose intentions are always in question.'"  As reported previously, James Bobin (who directed the previous Muppets movie) and Nicholas Stoller (who co-wrote it with Jason Segel) are writing the sequel for Bobin to direct. One [...]
