Kristen Wiig and Robert De Niro To Star in Comedian

Kristen Wiig and Robert De Niro will star in a drama called Comedian, to be directed by Sean Penn. In the film, De Niro's washed-up comedian character is forced to perform community service where "he meets a dazzling redhead (Wiig) who turns his life sideways." Ooh la la! Should be pretty interesting to see Wiig in a serious role opposite De Niro. And the script was written by Art Linson with Roastmaster General Jeffrey Ross, who definitely knows a thing or two about life as a comedian. Where Has the Conceptual Comedy Trailer Gone?

It has long been a known fact of the universe that movie trailers are their own breed and not necessarily indicative of the quality or Funniness Quotient (one popular made-up measurement which is determined using the formula [{Witticisms*Wordplay} + Situational Zaniness + Character Reality] – [Nut Shots + Animal Characters] = FQ) of the movie itself.

That doesn't mean they can't be appreciated as their own form. Take the Pineapple Express trailer, a notorious case of the trailer being way better than the movie.
