Watch a New 'Simpsons' Couch Gag Animated by Bill Plympton

A few years ago, The Simpsons started bringing in well-known outside artists like Banksy and John Kricfalusi to guest-animate their couch gag sequences, and here's a new one done by cartoonist Bill Plympton. This is the third couch gag Plympton has made for the show, and it'll air in this coming Sunday's episode, which also features a tribute to filmmaker/animator Hayao Miyazaki during the actual episode.

Watch 'The Simpsons' Do a 'Breaking Bad' Couch Gag

Just in time for the new season of Mad Men, here's The Simpsons' Breaking Bad parody. It's the opening couch gag to this Sunday's episode and makes use of one of Breaking Bad's best meth-cooking montage songs, "Crystal Blue Persuasion." This could have easily been a full episode of the show, but it makes for an action-packed, super long couch gag.

Guillermo Del Toro's Halloween 'Simpsons' Credits Are Amazing

Here are the opening credits to The Simpsons's 24th "Treehouse of Horror" episode, expertly directed by Guillermo Del Toro. The episode airs this Sunday and will feature these same credits, filled with classic horror characters and even Hypnotoad from Futurama.

Ren & Stimpy Creator John K. Whips Up Manic Simpsons Couch Gag

The long and storied history of the Simpsons couch gag has just been addended to include last night's opening, drawn by Ren & Stimpy creator/animator John Kricfalusi. It's amazing to see how much the animation style changes the characters and tone of the show, even in a clip that's under a minute long. Kricfalusi's frantic, helter-skelter style makes for a remarkable couch gag, but it might also remind us to be grateful that the rest of Springfield is drawn relatively peacefully.

Guillermo del Toro Made the Couch Gag for This Year's 'Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror

Pacific Rim and Hellboy filmmaker Guillermo del Toro will be taking the reins of part of The Simpsons' opening credits for the show's Halloween episode this year, Fox announced yesterday. The show's 24th annual "Treehouse of Horror" episode will feature a couch gag created by del Toro that involves monsters from classic horror films from the past several decades. Bill Plympton, John Kricfalusi, and Banksy have all created a couch gag to the show in the past.

Banksy's Incredibly Dark Simpsons Couch Gag

On last night's episode of The Simpsons, they invited infamous graffiti artist Banksy to storyboard and direct an extended couch gag. In it, it shows Chinese laborers in over-the-top brutal working conditions animating the show, making Bart Simpson dolls and putting together Simpsons DVDs. It's pretty brutal! And the fact that they were able to get such a famous and notoriously secretive guy such as Banksy to do this without any word of it leaking out is impressive to say the least.
