In addition to the upcoming Family Guy and Futurama crossover episodes of The Simpsons, Entertainment Weekly reports that there's also another crossover in the works — a Simpsons/Simpsons one. Set to air on October 19th as this year's Treehouse of Horror episode, the crossover will be a parody of The Others and follow the Simpsons as they "are haunted by another ghostly family living in the house," played by the original 1987 version of the Simpsons from The Tracey Ullman Show.
While the Ullman version Simpsons have made a few cameos in recent years, next month's crossover will be the first to prominently feature them, [...]
News broke last summer that Fox was working on a Simpsons/Family Guy crossover episode to be aired sometime in fall 2014. At Fox's upfront presentation yesterday, entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly confirmed the news and revealed that the episode — called The Simpsons Guy — will be a full hour and is currently set to air sometime this September. The episode will feature the Griffins going on a road trip to Springfield; here's the full description of the crossover special via EW:
They cross paths with Homer, who graciously greets his new "albino" visitors, and the two families become fast friends. Stewie is impressed with Bart and [...]
"Something gritty. Something early-70s. Boston. Icy grime. Low-stakes larceny, with her psyche as collateral. I don’t think there’s anything Amy can’t do."
- Patton Oswalt in a new piece for New Republic, in which he nominates Maria Bamford, Kevin James, Martin Short, Amy Poehler (above), and Eric Idle as the comedy actors he'd most like to see make the jump to more dramatic roles.
"On Frasier, a network executive once suggested that one week we have John Lithgow play Frasier and Kelsey Grammar play Lithgow's role on 3rd Rock From the Sun; I've been deeply afraid of the idea of a crossover ever since." - Modern Family showrunner Christopher Lloyd on the brilliant ideas of 90s NBC Executives. They're both balding and pompous, so it's hard to say for sure this crossover didn't actually happen.
Fox revealed the above five-minute preview of its upcoming Simpsons/Family Guy crossover episode at Comic-Con yesterday, which is set to premiere as Family Guy's season premiere on September 28th. The preview is at first a pretty average meeting of the minds between the Griffins and Simpsons, only to devolve into a fist fight between Peter and Homer that leads to a possible nuclear meltdown.
After taking a big dramatic turn in 2013's Walter Mitty, Ben Stiller is continuing his foray into serious movies with his next two projects. According to A.V. Club, Stiller is in talks to star in Alan Ball's upcoming film I Am Chippendales, which tells the tale of Somen Banerjee's rise to success as the famous male strip club's founder who later hired hit men to kill some of his associates. Stiller will play one of those (alleged) associate victims Nick DeNoia, Banerjee's choreographer and business partner. Aside from Stiller's dramatic acting work, he's also reportedly in talks to direct The Current War, a historical drama about Thomas Edison [...]
Hot on the heels of last week's news that Family Guy is hosting a crossover with The Simpsons in 2014 comes the announcement of on another crossover between The Simpsons and an animated series. At The Simpsons' Comic-Con panel Saturday, showrunner Al Jean revealed that they're about to record an episode of the show that will serve as a crossover with creator Matt Groening's other show, Futurama. The episode will be airing in 2014, either as a season 25 finale in May or a season 26 premiere in the fall. Family Guy's Simpsons episode is also expected to air sometime in 2014.
Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein will guest star on The Simpsons sometime next fall as a cool Portland couple who move to Springfield. In other words, they'll basically be playing Portlandia characters in an animated world. In their episode, "Homer desperately tries to befriend them, but Marge is skeptical that being cool isn’t all it’s cracked up to be." But crossovers are!
Over the course of last year, several big events slated for the 26th season of The Simpsons were revealed including a Futurama crossover episode, a Family Guy crossover episode, and the death of a character who has appeared on the show at least twice. At TCA over the weekend, a few more details were revealed about all three events, including that the Family Guy/Simpsons crossover episode — which will air as Family Guy's season premiere on September 28th — will also cross over into Bob's Burgers territory. From EW:
In addition to featuring Homer, his family, and various Springfield residents, Family Guy will include a [...]
Oscar-winning megastar Brad Pitt would like to return to big screen comedy, and he's banking on Judd Apatow to let him be his next blockbuster darling. According to a report from Radar, a source close to the 12 Years a Slave actor and producer said that he's "avoided doing comedies for several years but that's going to change soon. He's been making moves to butter up to Judd, someone he's known for more than 15 years."
Despite Apatow's friendship with Pitt's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, the Radar report alleges that "Judd is very interested in writing and directing Brad" and the director is "going to do his best [...]
Just like when the Jetsons met the Flintstones before them, the Simpsons and the Griffins are set to go face to face next year in a special crossover episode. EW reports that an upcoming episode of Family Guy entitled "The Simpsons Guy" will feature the Griffin family going on a road trip to Springfield. Simpsons voice actors Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, and Hank Azaria are all voicing characters in the Family Guy episode, with Harry Shearer conspicuously absent. Here's how EW describes the crossover:
They cross paths with Homer, who graciously greets his new “albino” visitors, and the two families become fast friends. Stewie is [...]
Remember when, earlier this season on Community, Abed had a long monologue about the time he had a background role on his favorite show, Cougar Town? Well, on last night's season finale of Cougar Town, we got to see Abed's moment in the sun. And it's amazing, with him staring right into the camera and running away. How confusing must this have been for Cougar Town fans who have never seen Community? Which is to say, most Cougar Town fans, probably? That just makes it that much funnier.
