Jason Sudeikis Talks Biden and Romney on 'The Daily Show'

Jason Sudeikis made his second visit to the Daily Show couch last night for a fun discussion about what it's been like to play both Mitt Romney and Joe Biden on SNL during election season. Sudeikis reveals he hasn't met either Romney or Biden yet, despite having played each of them on national TV for years now. Romney has plenty of free time now, and Biden loves making cameos in comedies, so it should happen any day now. As I'm required to mention with all Jason Sudeikis-related news, we still don't know when he'll be leaving SNL. He doesn't mention it during his entire Daily Show interview, so [...]

The Best of Late Night's Responses to the Presidential Debate

America's late night shows took on Tuesday's presidential debate this week, all of them going about it in their own unique way. Here's Jon Stewart laying into Mitt Romney over his contraception stance and his "binders full of women" remark, as well as complimenting Barack Obama (who's appearing on The Daily Show tonight!) for actually deciding to attend this debate.

Check out some more highlights from late night's coverage of the second debate after the jump:

Did 'The Daily Show' or 'The Colbert Report' Mock Bloomberg's Giant Soda Ban Better?

Sometimes a news story is so big or so ridiculous that both The Daily Show and The Colbert Report take it on. Michael Bloomberg's proposed ban on sugary drinks over 32 oz. is so asinine it actually has 10 asses not 9. However, the question remains: of the two videos below, who wins this satire-off? What mocks better or harder: Jon Stewart's precise zings or Stephen Colbert's ever-escalating act-out? Fill up your hilariously oversized cup with a sugary drink while you still can and watch these titans of tee-hees challenge one another in a battle of laughs, where everyone is a winner.

Let Kristen Schaal's Floating Head Explain Women Voters

Last night, Kristen Schaal slapped on a green-on-green, green-screen-ready jumpsuit to walk through the last 16 years of "_____ Moms." Mostly, it was an excuse for Schaal to play her best floating head and Stewart to laugh profusely at such. I'd vote for Schaal and her campaign partner, Bruce Willis's tank top from the 5th Element, any day, just for the access to legal …math.

Jason Segel Has a Very Romantic Idea for How How I Met Your Mother Should End

How do you want How I Met Your Mother to end? I'm hoping it goes like this: "And that's how I met your brother. We saw him in the window of the orphanage. Oh! Have I been saying, 'mother' this whole time? Ooops. I just met her through friends. No, not those friends. Just friends from work. We got drinks a couple times and on our fourth date we went to that Italian place we took you two to the last time we were in the city. Anyway, your brother is adopted." Jason Segel has a slightly different idea and it may or may not involve machine guns (Hear [...]

Jon Stewart Says He's the "Worst Journalist in the World" for Letting Paula Broadwell/David Petraeus Slip Through His Fingers

Jon Stewart and his news team tackled the David Petraeus/Paula Broadwell scandal on The Daily Show last night, touching on the fact that Broadwell was a Daily Show guest earlier this year. Stewart rips into himself for not picking up on the affair after listening to Broadwell praise the General nonstop for seven minutes, but at least he came closer to the story than most of those serious, non-Comedy Central journalists, which is pretty impressive in and of itself. Check out Stewart's original interview with Paula Broadwell, which is goin' viral, after the jump:

'NY Times' Writer Really, Really Hates the Overuse of the Phrase "Really?"

"I could successfully argue that the 'Really?' epidemic on scripted shows is lazy writing; why do the hard work of spinning meaningful dialogue when you can grab a cheap laugh with a single word? But I’m more concerned about the role these TV 'Reallys?' are playing in the continuing collapse of society."

New York Times writer Neil Genzlinger singles out SNL, The Daily Show, and The League, amongst other shows, in his piece about the overuse of the phrase "Really?" in scripted television. Good thing Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler are too busy to make a "Really!?! with Seth and Amy" spin-off because it would cause this columnist's [...]

Michelle Obama Discusses the Likelihood of Cheeseburger Gardens

Humble cookbook author Michelle Obama stopped by The Daily Show to discuss gardens, vegetable feasts, and how kids spend 7.5 hours a day in front of a screen. Speaking as someone who professionally spends upwards of 10 hours a day in front of a screen, all I have to say is Step It Up Kidz. The future is coming little Johnny and Jenny and you'll need to wear down your [...]

'The Daily Show' to Cover the Republican Convention from Tampa

Those poor souls at The Daily Show are doing what few sane New York liberals would dare to do: spend a week in Tampa at the Republican National Convention. They'll be broadcasting from America's shameful dangler from Tuesday, August 28 through Friday, August 31. They'll also be broadcasting from the DNC in Charlotte from Tuesday, September 4 through Friday, September 7, as previously announced.

Daily Show Senior Latino Correspondent Al Madrigal Is Not Your Applebee's Fajita

The Daily Show debuted new Senior Latino Correspondent Al Madrigal last night, who suspects President Obama's recent statements about immigration are just a cynical ploy to appeal to a growing demographic, not unlike some late-night satirical news shows we know. "You hope to make up for it by Googling 'Mexican comedian' and voila!" he analogized to a sheepish Stewart. "It's so cultural offensive," Madrigal declared. "And I am a little offended your make-up lady covered up my tear drop tattoo." Jon also took the time to clarify the specifics of an ugly stereotype: Jews are rumored to control the media, not the medians. "So we can sell oranges [...]

'Daily Show' and 'Colbert' Will Give You the Only Live Election Coverage You Need

Once again, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report will be reporting live on election night on Tuesday, marking the sixth presidential election (since 1992) that Comedy Central is covering live. The shows will air live at 11 and 11:30 on the East Coast, 8 and 8:30 on the West Coast. The Daily Show's coverage is called "Election Night 2012: This Ends Now," while Colbert's is "Election 2012: A Nation Votes, Ohio Decides; The Re-Presidenting of America: Who Will Replace Obama? ‘012!" This should easily top the election coverage from the so-called "real news," whose journalists "with credentials" aren't half as good at coming up with these funny, really [...]

Replacement 'Daily Show' Correspondent Patrick Stewart Is Better at Being John Oliver than John Oliver Is

It just so happens that the NFL referee strike is coinciding with a Daily Show correspondents strike, but, unlike the replacement refs, who aren't doing a great job (I'm not a sports fan, but I think I'm right on this), replacement correspondent Patrick Stewart is filling in for striker John Oliver and knocking it out of the park (different sport, I know). Patrick Stewart is such a superior John Oliver that I wouldn't be surprised if John Oliver awakes to find he's no longer needed on his podcast The Bugle or NBC's Community either.

Michelle Obama to Return to Daily Show to Talk about Plants

On May 29th, First Lady Michelle Obama is making her Second appearance on the Daily Show for an interview that will take up about a Third of the episode. Her previous appearance was during the 2008 campaign so now she'll be able to talk about the goings on of the White House. Though, apparently, she'll be focusing mostly on one part of the house, its garden. She will be  promoting AMERICAN GROWN: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America, her book about growing vegetables and such at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Maybe, she'll share the recipe to the President's favorite Kale and Kale Soup with Kale Chips [...]

Lewis Black Explains Why Your Food Sucks

Guess how long Lewis Black has been doing "Back in Black" on the Daily Show? Do you have your guess? The answer is 16 years. Right!? Yet somehow his face hasn't exploded and he still has a cabinet packed with axes to grind. Speaking [...]
