Damon Wayans Jr. Promoted to Series Regular for 'New Girl' Season 4

Damon Wayans Jr. will officially be a cast member on Fox's New Girl next season. THR reports that Wayans will be made a series regular at the start of season four, instead of being billed as a guest star, as he currently is. Wayans was originally set to be a series regular on New Girl back in 2011, when he acted in the pilot, but when his other show, Happy Endings, got a surprise second season renewal from ABC, he wasn't able to stick around. After Happy Endings was canceled, he was hired back on to New Girl for a six-episode arc that was extended into [...]

Damon Wayans Jr. Will Stay on 'New Girl' All Season

Damon Wayans Jr. returned to New Girl this week, but it looks like he's going to be sticking around for a while. EW reports that the Happy Endings alum has committed to staying on for the rest of season three. He won't be billed as a full-time cast member; he'll be a special guest star instead. Wayans was a cast member in New Girl's pilot but was unable to appear in additional episodes when Happy Endings was given a surprise second season renewal by ABC. With Happy Endings now canceled, he returned to New Girl this week for what was originally supposed to be a six-episode [...]

Damon Wayans Jr. in Talks to Return to 'New Girl' as a Recurring Guest

It looks like Damon Wayans Jr. will be returning to New Girl. As you may or may not recall, Wayans appeared in the pilot for the Fox sitcom as a regular character Coach, but he had to drop out of the series when his other show, Happy Endings, received a surprise season two pickup at ABC. Lamorne Morris was added to the cast in a new role to take Wayans's place. Now that Happy Endings is canceled, TV Line reports that Damon Wayans Jr. is in talks to return to New Girl "for a significant Season 3 arc."

New Girl costar Jake Johnson, who's currently filming the [...]

Damon Wayans Jr.'s Dad's Friend David Alan Grier Cast in 'Happy Endings'

David Alan Grier will be guest starring on the ABC comedy Happy Endings as Brad's (Damon Wayans Jr.) new boss, E! Online reports. Grier's appearance is in the 13th episode of the season, entitled "The Heat of the Noche," which will air in spring of 2013. Grier starred with Wayans Jr.'s dad, the first Damon Wayans, on In Living Color and in the movie Blankman, so he should have plenty of chemistry with family friend Damon Wayans Jr. One thing's for sure: If David Alan Grier's episode of Happy Endings doesn't feature a ton of Blankman references, Blankman fans will be in an uproar.

How Can We Become Best Friends with the Cast of 'Happy Endings'?

New York has a story about the Happy Endings cast that is so frustrating. Casts will always say they're friends but these guys are the real deal. Since I doubt you or I will ever be cast as a series regular, how can we get them to be our friends? Just read the description of when they first hung out:

The group began bonding the night of the very first table read, when they went for drinks at the Chateau Marmont and ended up at Cuthbert’s house, where it became clear that this group of “friends” was actually going to be friends. “I hope he forgives me [...]

Here's a Trailer for the Jake Johnson/Damon Wayans Jr. Buddy Movie 'Let's Be Cops'

This is the brand new trailer Let's Be Cops, a new movie that comes out August 13th and stars New Girl's Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. as a pair of friends who start pretending to be police officers for fun. Rob Riggle, Keegan-Michael Key, and some tough sorority sisters play supporting roles.

Damon Wayans Jr. Returns to 'New Girl' Tonight

Damon Wayans Jr., who was a cast member in New Girl's pilot but had to leave the show after that when Happy Endings was given a surprise pick up for a second season in 2011, is returning to New Girl in tonight's episode. The new episode, entitled "Coach," is the start of a six-episode arc for Wayans.

Here's Wayans explaining to E! Online why his character, Coach, is returning:

Coach is one of those guys who, when he gets into a relationship, he kind of disappears. So he's been in a relationship for two years and they finally broke up and now he's back and he's hitting [...]

With 'Happy Endings' Canceled, Damon Wayans Jr. May Come Back to 'New Girl'

While negotiations are still ongoing to bring Happy Endings to USA following ABC's decision to cancel the sitcom, it looks like star Damon Wayans Jr. is wanted back at New Girl. For the uninformed, in between Happy Endings' first and second seasons when a renewal for the show seemed uncertain, Wayans took a role on Fox's New Girl. He appeared in the pilot as a roommate named Coach but had to leave the show after Happy Endings got picked up for Season 2 and Lamorne Morris’s Winston took his place. With Happy Endings' future uncertain once again, TV Line's Michael Ausiello reports that if the show doesn't move to [...]

Talking with Damon Wayans Jr. and Eliza Coupe about 'Happy Endings', Writing a Movie Together, and Why Babies Are Unfunny

After six long months off the air, ABC's Happy Endings is finally back tonight at 9 with the premiere of its brand new third season. I recently had the chance to visit the set of the show, and from everything I saw and heard, the writers and cast have a lot of nutty, amazing stuff in store for us in the new season. I sat down for a roundtable chat with stars Damon Wayans Jr. and Eliza Coupe, who play weirdo married couple Brad and Jane. Wayans and Coupe, myself, and the other reports all had a civilized discourse about the new season, the movie Wayans and Coupe are writing [...]

Happy Endings Recap: "Blax, Snake, Home"

The gang is back and going into anaphylactic shock in the premiere of Happy Ending's second season last night. The episode starts with an errant oyster knife flying out of Max’s hand, stabbing Brad in the leg, spraying a highly allergic Jane with lobster fluids and forcing Dave to admit that he had lied to Alex about his shellfish allergy while they were dating. Oh yeah…remember the hook? That ruined wedding seems like it happened one million years ago already, which is a very good sign. The episode's first 2 minutes were such an absurd delight, I barely stopped to wonder why anyone would have a towering platter of [...]

Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson Are Making a Buddy Cop Movie Together

Happy Endings star Damon Wayans Jr. and New Girl star Jake Johnson are teaming up to make a new movie together. Deadline reports that the actors will play the leads in Let's Be Cops, a film that will star them as best friends who impersonate cops for fun but soon find themselves involved with a real mobster. Luke Greenfield (The Girl Next Door) will direct from a script he wrote with his writing partner Nick Thomas. Wayans and Johnson starred together on the pilot for Fox's New Girl, but Wayans's role was recast after the first episode due to his commitment to Happy Endings. It's nice to [...]

Watch the 'Happy Endings' Live Show Right Here Right Now

Happy Endings is finally coming back to TV tomorrow, and to ring in the new season, the cast and writers held a live show at the UCB Theatre in LA on Saturday (embedded in its entirety above). Hosted by cast members Casey Wilson and Adam Pally, the live show is full of funny stuff, whether you're familiar with Happy Endings or not, and it also features Happy Endings actors Damon Wayans Jr. and Eliza Coupe, Happy Endings director Fred Savage (yes, that Fred Savage), Happy Endings writers Gil Ozeri, Jackie Clarke, Brian Gallivan, and non-Happy Endings people like Kat Dennings and Adam Pally's cousin Ben. It's a jam-packed show featuring cardboard cut-outs, crazy [...]
