Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson Are Making a Buddy Cop Movie Together

Happy Endings star Damon Wayans Jr. and New Girl star Jake Johnson are teaming up to make a new movie together. Deadline reports that the actors will play the leads in Let's Be Cops, a film that will star them as best friends who impersonate cops for fun but soon find themselves involved with a real mobster. Luke Greenfield (The Girl Next Door) will direct from a script he wrote with his writing partner Nick Thomas. Wayans and Johnson starred together on the pilot for Fox's New Girl, but Wayans's role was recast after the first episode due to his commitment to Happy Endings. It's nice to [...]

Watch the 'Happy Endings' Live Show Right Here Right Now

Happy Endings is finally coming back to TV tomorrow, and to ring in the new season, the cast and writers held a live show at the UCB Theatre in LA on Saturday (embedded in its entirety above). Hosted by cast members Casey Wilson and Adam Pally, the live show is full of funny stuff, whether you're familiar with Happy Endings or not, and it also features Happy Endings actors Damon Wayans Jr. and Eliza Coupe, Happy Endings director Fred Savage (yes, that Fred Savage), Happy Endings writers Gil Ozeri, Jackie Clarke, Brian Gallivan, and non-Happy Endings people like Kat Dennings and Adam Pally's cousin Ben. It's a jam-packed show featuring cardboard cut-outs, crazy [...]

Fox Picks Up Zooey Deschanel Sitcom The New Girl

The actress's mission of total bang domination slowly marches on as Fox picks up Zooey Deschanel's sitcom The New Girl, and welcomes her to the network where her sister Emily Deschanel fronts Bones. The Our Idiot Brother actress will star as "an unlucky-in-love elementary school teacher who moves away from her former boyfriend and in with three unruly guys," while simultaneously making normal people's hair, face and clothes look like goblin garb. Deschanel has been consistently charming in comedies like Elf and Yes Men, though whether or not New Girl will be the manic pixie dream show we've been waiting for is anybody's guess.

The more eyebrow-raising [...]

Damon Wayans Jr.'s Dad's Friend David Alan Grier Cast in 'Happy Endings'

David Alan Grier will be guest starring on the ABC comedy Happy Endings as Brad's (Damon Wayans Jr.) new boss, E! Online reports. Grier's appearance is in the 13th episode of the season, entitled "The Heat of the Noche," which will air in spring of 2013. Grier starred with Wayans Jr.'s dad, the first Damon Wayans, on In Living Color and in the movie Blankman, so he should have plenty of chemistry with family friend Damon Wayans Jr. One thing's for sure: If David Alan Grier's episode of Happy Endings doesn't feature a ton of Blankman references, Blankman fans will be in an uproar.

How Can We Become Best Friends with the Cast of 'Happy Endings'?

New York has a story about the Happy Endings cast that is so frustrating. Casts will always say they're friends but these guys are the real deal. Since I doubt you or I will ever be cast as a series regular, how can we get them to be our friends? Just read the description of when they first hung out:

The group began bonding the night of the very first table read, when they went for drinks at the Chateau Marmont and ended up at Cuthbert’s house, where it became clear that this group of “friends” was actually going to be friends. “I hope he forgives me [...]

Happy Endings Recap: "Of Mice And Jazz Kwon Do" and "Dave Of The Dead"

These double episodes are messing me up, yall! God bless the efficient people at Hulu. In yesterday's first episode “Of Mice and Jazz Kwon Do,” Dave finds himself repulsed to be living in Max's bachelor filth pad rather than the butterfly-soap haven that was his apartment with Alex. "I thought our napkins had v-necks," Max explains before wiping his face all over Dave's laundry. Worst of all is the guys’ shower, where rust pumps out like old blood and the soap is just fifteen smaller soaps smashed in a ball and tied together with hair. Under the auspices of catching a mouse, Dave starts squatting in Alex’s pristine apartment/repeatedly [...]

Talking with Damon Wayans Jr. and Eliza Coupe about 'Happy Endings', Writing a Movie Together, and Why Babies Are Unfunny

After six long months off the air, ABC's Happy Endings is finally back tonight at 9 with the premiere of its brand new third season. I recently had the chance to visit the set of the show, and from everything I saw and heard, the writers and cast have a lot of nutty, amazing stuff in store for us in the new season. I sat down for a roundtable chat with stars Damon Wayans Jr. and Eliza Coupe, who play weirdo married couple Brad and Jane. Wayans and Coupe, myself, and the other reports all had a civilized discourse about the new season, the movie Wayans and Coupe are writing [...]

Happy Endings Recap: "Blax, Snake, Home"

The gang is back and going into anaphylactic shock in the premiere of Happy Ending's second season last night. The episode starts with an errant oyster knife flying out of Max’s hand, stabbing Brad in the leg, spraying a highly allergic Jane with lobster fluids and forcing Dave to admit that he had lied to Alex about his shellfish allergy while they were dating. Oh yeah…remember the hook? That ruined wedding seems like it happened one million years ago already, which is a very good sign. The episode's first 2 minutes were such an absurd delight, I barely stopped to wonder why anyone would have a towering platter of [...]

Happy Endings Review: Night of a Thousand Comebacks

Happy Endings had its two-episode premiere last night, and the best, brightest sign that it's shaping up to be a good show was how much better the second episode was from the first. An upward trajectory: not as easy as you might think! While the premise dominated the first half hour, by the second its superior writing and great cast chemistry was already shining through. I have a big Friends-shaped hole in my heart. I'm not saying Happy Endings filled it, but if things keep going this well, I think I can mash it around in there until it's approximately the same shape and size.

The series begins when [...]
