Dan St. Germain Talks Breakups, Honda Civics, and Having Fun with Death on 'Conan'

Standup Dan St. Germain was a guest on last night's Conan, where he covered everything from his ex-girlfriend breaking up with him to take a job at Google to getting demoted from his art museum purse-checker job prior to a visit from Michelle Obama to his views on the inevitability of death: "We're all gonna die — have some fun with it!"

Standup Dan St. Germain is releasing his debut album next month. Comedy label ASpecialThing Records is putting out St. Germain's album, Bad at the Good Times, on June 10th. It was recorded last year at LA's NerdMelt Theater. AST Records is also releasing Max Silvestri's  debut, King Piglet, on the same day.

Dan St. Germain had his own Comedy Central half-hour special last year and was a regular on VH1's recently-canceled Best Week Ever reboot. He's also done standup on Conan, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show. He had his own Comedy Central animated digital series, In Security, last year and [...]

Comedy Central has long been the best showcase of stand-up on TV, and every year, the network releases a series of half-hour specials from talented folks. The Comedy Bureau has obtained a list of comedians set to record specials this year, and it's an especially strong group. Dan St. Germain on His Start in Standup and the Power of Self-Deprecation

Dan St. Germain has made his mark in the comedy world with his energetic on stage persona, his podcast (My Dumb Friends), and a Comedy Central web series (In Security). In his standup, he doesn't shy away from the dark truths of life, weaving his own issues with depression and alcoholism in with his jokes. Now, he's ready to bring those truths to everyone with his debut album, Bad At the Good Times, from A Special Thing Records.

I recently chatted with St. Germain to talk about the album, his start in comedy, and being the "I'll take it" guy.

It's been a big year for Dan St. Germain. He joined the cast of the relaunched Best Week Ever, taped a half hour special, created an online series for Comedy Central, and now he's sold a pilot to Fox. The Hollywood Reporter reports that St. Germain will write and star in the untitled show, about "a guy who is a complete emotional wreck after he gets dumped, so he decides to move back in with his ex and her current boyfriend to figure out what went wrong and learn how to stop being a man baby when it comes to love." He'll produce the show with Jake Johnson and Max Winkler.

Talking to Dan St. Germain About His Web Series 'In Security'

Joining the ranks of Comedy Central’s CC:Studios online series is In Security, an animated show created by and starring comedian Dan St. Germain that follows the uneventful lives of an overnight art museum security crew led the slovenly alcoholic Head of Security Richie. I recently asked St. Germain how his idea for In Security came about, why writing for television helps his standup act, and what other projects he has lined up for the near future.

You Had To Be There #85: Dan St. Germain

This week, Nikki considers the pros and cons of her new Manhattan digs and tells a grand story of comedic rebellion that explains why she doesn't get many corporate gigs. Though this is comedian Dan St. Germain's (John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show, My Dumb Friends podcast) first official YHTBT appearance, he was previously the guest on this podcast's only lost episode, locked away in the Disney Vault for being, in Dan's words, "too sad." The talk this time around starts out kind of dour, too, with tales of epically vindictive exes, but soon morphs into a fun litany of frank sexual histories, including Dan's weird nuts, [...]
