Danny McBride and writer/director Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous, Jerry Maguire) don't seem like the most obvious pairing, but they're set to work together on Crowe's next project, an untitled film that also stars Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, and Rachel McAdams. Cooper revealed that McBride has been cast in a supporting role during an interview with The Huffington Post. The mysterious film is believed to be a revamped version of Crowe's rom-com Deep Tiki, which was set to star Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon in 2008 before the project was canceled. Danny McBride's role is not known at this time, but here's how The Wrapdescribes the movie:
Yesterday, Seth Rogen and company released a fake trailer for Pineapple Express 2 as an April Fool's Day gag, which ended up being a piece of actual promotion for their new apocalypse comedy This Is the End. Now, they've released an actual new trailer for This Is the End, a movie that Rogen co-wrote/co-directed that stars him, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson as themselves. Beware, the trailer's jam-packed with spoilers, revealing some major character deaths and other stuff too.
If you missed SNL this weekend or aren't one of the 3 million+ people who already caught it on YouTube, here's The Lonely Island's digital short "YOLO" from Saturday, featuring Adam Levine, Kendrick Lamar, and the silent acting talents of Danny McBride. Jim Carrey is in negotiations to star in a new comedy called Loomis Fargo, based on a real-life armored car heist, for producer Lorne Michaels and director Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite). The movie is based on the Loomis Fargo Bank Robbery, a 1997 heist pulled off by a group of armored car guards in Charlotte, North Carolina. Carrey would play the gang's ex-military leader. Past drafts of the script have been written by Eastbound & Down duo Jody Hill and Danny McBride, as well as Up All Night creator Emily Spivey, but the draft Carrey and Hess are working from was penned by Chris Bowman and Hubbel [...]
Lindsay Lohan will be making an appearance on the upcoming fourth and final season of HBO's Eastbound & Down, E! Online reports. The actress was recently in North Carolina shooting scenes for the show. If you don't want major spoilers about the new season, stop reading this right now. E! writes that Lohan is playing "the daughter of one of the show's main characters and was filming a wedding scene set many years in the future. And yes, she was the bride." Off that description, there's no way she's not Kenny Powers's daughter. Lohan joins new Eastbound guest stars Ken Marino and Tim Heidecker. The eight-episode fourth [...]
Danny McBride had a small accident yesterday while filming Eastbound & Down's upcoming fourth season. TMZ reports that while filming a scene involving his character Kenny Powers rollerskating, McBride fell hard. Producers sent him to the hospital after he was in a lot of pain, but he was quickly released and is totally fine. "I busted my ass on roller skates," McBride commented. "The roller skates won."
The new season of the show (spoilers follow) picks up with Kenny Powers a several years after the season three finale, in which he got back into the majors but faked his death to be with April Buchanon and his kid. Powers [...]
It came as a surprise last year when Danny McBride and his Eastbound & Down co-creator Jody Hill signed on for a fourth season after they had always planned to end the HBO series after three. When speaking to Collider this weekend, McBride revealed that they're writing the new season now and that it begins filming this May. He summed Season 4 up by saying, "The theme of this is basically what happens to the hero after he rides off into the sunset. That’s kind of where we’re starting this season."
While the Season 4 renewal was unexpected, McBride says he and Jody Hill will most likely be moving [...]
The FX network just bought a new animated comedy pilot produced by Danny McBride and his frequent co-conspirators Jody Hill and David Gordon Green, Deadline reports. FX is searching for a companion series to its animated hit Archer, and this could be it. The potential series, entitled Chosen, has been in development since February and will likely feature McBride in a supporting voice role. Chosen was created by Grant Dekernion, a former writer's assistant on McBride, Hill, and Green's HBO series Eastbound & Down. Dekernion would voice the lead character on Chosen, a rapper who's just been released from jail and is looking for redemption. So, take a look at that, [...]
You want to hang out with Larry David, right? So it should come as no surprise that a lot of people have signed on for Clear History, his semi-improvised HBO movie about a man named Nathan Flomm (David) who changes his identity to Rolly DaVore and moves to a small island off the coast of Massachusetts, after giving up 10% of an electric car company that eventually is worth billions. So who's signed on? Let's run them down:
Jon Hamm plays Will Haney, Flomm's handsome rival and boss at the car company.
Kate Hudson plays Rhonda, Haney's wife who has a special friendship with Flomm.
Eastbound & Down is set to debut its fourth and final season on HBO this September, but co-creators Danny McBride and Jody Hill already have another project set up at the network. HBO President Michael Lombardo told the press yesterday that McBride and Hill are developing a half-hour comedy set at a high school for the network. "They're taking a look at high school life," Lombardo says. "It's a really great, funny, quintessentially Danny and Jody idea." In addition the untitled high school project, McBride and Hill are producing a new animated series for FXX that's expected to launch early next year. Called Chozen, it follows a [...]

The series, which follows a gay white rapper, is expected to debut early next year. Chozen was created by newcomer Grant Dekernion, who used to be Eastbound & Down's writer's assistant, and the regular voice cast features Dekernion, Bobby Moynihan, Hannibal Buress, Michael Peña, Nick Swardson, McBride, Kathryn Hahn, and Method Man. It's a pretty eclectic and impressive group. FXX launches this fall with It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The League, Legit, and Totally [...]
