It stars Rogen, Franco, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson as themselves facing the end of the world in Los Angeles. Rogen wrote and directed the movie with his longtime writing partner Evan Goldberg, and Michael Cera, Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Rihanna, Aziz Ansari, Mindy Kaling, Martin Starr, David Krumholtz, and Kevin Hart also appear as themselves. How North Carolina Birthed Much of Contemporary Comedy

"Comedy frequently comes from the margins, outside the dominant culture—just consider how many of America’s best comics have been black, Jewish, or Canadian. Something similar seems to be fueling the North Carolina comedy boom." - Evan Smith Rakoff for Slate in a piece about the rise of North Carolina bread comedians. He misses, however, Michael Jordan star of the classic comedy Space Jam.

This Week In Web Videos: "The Roadie with Danny McBride"

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

A lazy idiot’s motto? Perhaps. But in the cruel world of mass market comedy, where we celebrate the laziest of the idiots, sometimes old faithful is better than cutting edge. This is especially true for celebrities with established brands and followings, celebrities like, well, Danny McBride, Jack Black, and Kyle Gass. (Maybe Dane Cook? Come on…maybe?). No matter what your comedic sensibilities, it’s hard to deny “The Roadie with Danny McBride” packs a special sort of power in its anticipatory appeal, its “I already know and love these guys” punch.

Assuming you haven’t started watching already (you definitely should have; what I have [...]

Here's the New Trailer for Seth Rogen and James Franco's 'This Is the End'

Yesterday, Seth Rogen and company released a fake trailer for Pineapple Express 2 as an April Fool's Day gag, which ended up being a piece of actual promotion for their new apocalypse comedy This Is the End. Now, they've released an actual new trailer for This Is the End, a movie that Rogen co-wrote/co-directed that stars him, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson as themselves. Beware, the trailer's jam-packed with spoilers, revealing some major character deaths and other stuff too.

Jim Carrey Is Stealing an Armored Car for Lorne Michaels

Jim Carrey is in negotiations to star in a new comedy called Loomis Fargo, based on a real-life armored car heist, for producer Lorne Michaels and director Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite). The movie is based on the Loomis Fargo Bank Robbery, a 1997 heist pulled off by a group of armored car guards in Charlotte, North Carolina. Carrey would play the gang's ex-military leader. Past drafts of the script have been written by Eastbound & Down duo Jody Hill and Danny McBride, as well as Up All Night creator Emily Spivey, but the draft Carrey and Hess are working from was penned by Chris Bowman and Hubbel [...]

Danny McBride Discusses 'Eastbound & Down' Season 4

Earlier this week, we learned that Eastbound & Down was getting a fourth season or in a way a second final season. Danny McBride told HitFix what the fourth season will focus on:

Something we never really got to explore with the show that we always wanted to was what life would be like once April and Kenny were together. Katy Mixon was on a hit television show, and her schedule with that show didn't really allow her to be involved with the show as much as Jody and I would have loved for her to be. So we came up with solutions to get around that, [...]

Jason Segel, Emma Watson, and David Krumholtz Maybe to Die in James Franco's Apartment

Emma Watson, Jason Segel, and David Krumholtz are going to play themselves in Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg's End of the World, which used to be know as The Apocolypse and before that Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse. The three, along with the already announced crew of Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, and Aziz Ansari, are all guests at James Franco's house party when the apocalypse comes, which stinks because that means they aren't coming to my apocalypse party. The bright side is some of them are supposed to die, which I read to mean that ALL OF THEM WILL DIE but in a [...]

Danny McBride Talks 'Eastbound & Down' Season 4 and the Possibility of Season 5

It came as a surprise last year when Danny McBride and his Eastbound & Down co-creator Jody Hill signed on for a fourth season after they had always planned to end the HBO series after three. When speaking to Collider this weekend, McBride revealed that they're writing the new season now and that it begins filming this May. He summed Season 4 up by saying, "The theme of this is basically what happens to the hero after he rides off into the sunset.  That’s kind of where we’re starting this season."

While the Season 4 renewal was unexpected, McBride says he and Jody Hill will most likely be moving [...]

Danny McBride Is Making an Animated Series for FX

The FX network just bought a new animated comedy pilot produced by Danny McBride and his frequent co-conspirators Jody Hill and David Gordon Green, Deadline reports. FX is searching for a companion series to its animated hit Archer, and this could be it. The potential series, entitled Chosen, has been in development since February and will likely feature McBride in a supporting voice role. Chosen was created by Grant Dekernion, a former writer's assistant on McBride, Hill, and Green's HBO series Eastbound & Down. Dekernion would voice the lead character on Chosen, a rapper who's just been released from jail and is looking for redemption. So, take a look at that, [...]

Larry David Casts Every Actor for His Movie – There Are No More Actors

You want to hang out with Larry David, right? So it should come as no surprise that a lot of people have signed on for Clear History, his semi-improvised HBO movie about a man named Nathan Flomm (David) who changes his identity to Rolly DaVore and moves to a small island off the coast of Massachusetts, after giving up 10% of an electric car company that eventually is worth billions. So who's signed on? Let's run them down:

Jon Hamm plays Will Haney, Flomm's handsome rival and boss at the car company.

Kate Hudson plays Rhonda, Haney's wife who has a special friendship with Flomm.

Michael Keaton plays [...]

'Eastbound & Down' Is Getting a Fourth Season?

This is a pretty odd turn of events. Eastbound & Down was given a fourth season from HBO, even though the show seemingly had its series finale in April. Not only that but Danny McBride has always been vocal about the fact that the show was designed to be in three parts. That being said, this is super great news. There will be a lot of questions to answer after that finale, obviously, like: What car is Kenny going to drive?
