David Cross to Play the Dead Boss in Fox's Pilot 'Dead Boss'

David Cross has been cast in a Fox pilot, his first since Arrested Development. Cross will guest star in the pilot Dead Boss as the titular "dead boss," Deadline reports. Based on the British show of the same name created by Sharon Horgan and Holly Walsh, Dead Boss stars 30 Rock's Jane Krakowski as Helen Stephens, an overachieving woman trying to prove she's innocent after being falsely convicted of murdering her narcissistic misogynistic boss, Derek Bridges (Cross). Amy Sedaris, Rachel Dratch, Cedric Yarborough, Justine Lupe, and Ravi Patel play supporting roles. David Cross recently guest starred on Community's second Dungeons & Dragons episode, which airs [...]

Jane Krakowski to Star in Fox Comedy 'Dead Boss'

Jane Krakowski's getting more camera — I mean cam-er-ah — time in the form of a leading role on a new Fox comedy. According to Deadline, the 30 Rock star has signed on for the lead role in Dead Boss, an adaptation of Sharon Horgan and Holly Walsh's BBC3 series. Krakowski will play Horgan's original role Helen Stephens, an overachiever "wrongfully convicted of murdering her boss and forced to rely on her train wreck of a sister to prove her innocence." Production is reportedly moving to New York where Krakowski — who has been a hotly sought-after actor for pilot season this year — is based.

Rachel Dratch Joins Jane Krakowski Fox Pilot 'Dead Boss'

Awesome cast alert: Rachel Dratch — who was originally cast in the role that Jane Krakowski landed on 30 Rock — has been added as a series regular on Fox's Sharon Horgan series adaptation Dead Boss, Deadline reports. Dratch will play Christine, "Helen's (Krakowski) cellmate, a sunny but emotionally needy arsonist who will help Helen out of anything, except prison." Knowing Dratch's absurd bit parts on 30 Rock — from the cat lady to Blue Dude — this sounds like the perfect role for her. The SNL alum's most recent role was on Comedy Central's Broad City as Ilana's clueless temp agency boss Linda Lodi.

Fox Is Remaking Sharon Horgan's BBC Show 'Dead Boss'

Sharon Horgan is about to get her fourth American pilot. Best known stateside for her turn in The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, the Irish writer and actress is remaking her BBC3 prison comedy Dead Boss, which she created with British standup Holly Walsh. The Fox show will center "on a woman trying to prove her innocence after being falsely accused and convicted of killing her boss," according to Deadline. Horgan's other pilots include a remake of her British smash sitcom Pulling, as well as Bad Mom and Bad Management. Below, a trailer for the BBC original:

Amy Sedaris Joins Jane Krakowski Fox Comedy 'Dead Boss'

The Fox comedy pilot Dead Boss has added another hilarious lady to its cast. Following news of 30 Rock's Jane Krakowski landing the starring role in the BBC3 adaptation, THR reports that Amy Sedaris has also joined the cast as Mary, described as "one of Helen's (Krakowski) nosy, fault-finding co-workers and the gatekeeper to their boss. She secretly loves the man and openly hates Helen." Dead Boss follows Krakowski's character after she's wrongly convicted of murdering her boss, so it should be fun to see Sedaris in somewhat of a villainous role. Sedaris's most recent onscreen credits include The Heart, She Holler, Raising Hope, Alpha House, and [...]
