The FCC Banned The Latest Episode of Fox's 'High School USA!'

Fox's new animated sitcom High School USA!, part of its Saturday night ADHD block, is running into trouble from the FCC. Creator Dino Stamatopoulos (Moral Orel, Community) posted on Facebook Friday, "FCC won't let us air this week's High School USA! this week. Pretty great." The episode did not air on Saturday. Titled "Best Friends Forever," the controversial episode involved teenage girl Amber (voiced by Zosia Mamet) getting upset when she learns that her mother is an amateur porn star, while her friend Marsh (voiced by Vincent Kartheiser) tries to get the two of them to make peace. Stamatopoulos added that if the episode airs (presumably with some [...]

Fox's initial raison d'etre was to be the "alternative" to the staid, lame network programming us human beings had foolishly grown accustomed to. While Fox still reaches the youngest viewers among the "big four" channels today, cable has become the home to the more subversive, niche, talked about TV shows. Not coincidentally, cable is also where more and more viewers, and more and more money, are going. This cannot [...]

Starburns Is Dead, Starburns Will Live Forever

"I’m not an actor. I don’t enjoy waiting around for hours on set, I hate when people touch my eyes and neck (make-up department!), I can’t learn lines quickly (yes, even the amount of lines I get), and I don’t need other actors (Joel McHale) asking me why I never got my teeth fixed." — Community writer/ex-actor Dino Stamatopoulos on why he pushed to have his character, Starburns, killed off in a surprisingly lengthy and informative article on how the whole thing went down.
