'Don't Trust the B' Creator Nahnatchka Khan Sells a New Show to ABC

Don't Trust the B creator Nahnatchka Khan just sold her second show in as many weeks. Deadline reports that ABC is developing a new show for the 2014-2015 TV season written and produced by Khan. Called Fresh Off the Boat, the project is based on restauranteur/TV personality Eddie Huang's memoir of the same name and follows a Chinese family who moves to Orlando (Huang's family, upon which the show is based, is Taiwanese). Like Huang, Khan is also a first-generation American. Jake Kasdan (New Girl, Bad Teacher) is also producing the show. This is Nahnatchka Khan's second  TV show sale of the season, following a project called Fatrick, produced by Jim [...]

Tuesday Night Sitcom Recap: 'Happy Endings,' 'New Girl,' 'Mindy,' and More

This season, Tuesday is the busiest sitcom night of the year, with three of the four networks airing comedies all against each other on that night each week. Yesterday saw Fox's New Girl and The Mindy Project each celebrating the holidays as they prepare to take their winter breaks, while Happy Endings has its holiday episode set up to debut next week. Let's take a look at last night's new holiday-themed (and non-holiday-themed) episodes:

Happy Endings – "To Serb with Love" CLAY: In "To Serb with Love" we get to meet Alex and Jane's parents, look inside Jane's joke-writing process, and watch Max try to compete with Pete for [...]

Many People Trusted the B— in Apartment 23

Last night, almost 7 million people learned what the “B” stands for in the title Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23 (it’s bee, oddly enough). With a 2.9 rating for 18-49 year olds, the show premiered to about as many people as Happy Endings usually brings in. These are good numbers, matching those of undeniable hit New Girl and trouncing any of the NBC comedies, including very sadly Best Friends Forever, which was down 25% to a dangerously low 0.9 for 18-49. Considering the monster lead-in that is Modern Family, however, this is hardly a slamdunk for renewal. We’ll see if the numbers hold up for next week's episode, in which that pesky bee finally [...]

ABC's Midseason Schedule Is Missing Don't Trust the B— and Cougartown

ABC released its midseason lineup, which includes one new comedy (it's the one about guys who cross-dress to get ahead in a "woman's world." Which, maybe it will be fantastic. Who knows?) It does not include Cougartown or Don't Trust the B— in Apartment 23, the latter being an especially weird omission since ABC's been furiously adding guest stars to the show for weeks. ABC has promised that both shows will air sometime this season, though, so more dates will probably be released soon. Leave some room in your meticulously noted television-watching day planners.

You Can Now Watch the Final 8 Episodes of 'Don't Trust the B' on Hulu

ABC canceled its critically-acclaimed but low-rated sitcom Don't Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 in January with eight episodes remaining. The unaired final episodes were unavailable until now. ABC has uploaded all the remaining shows to Hulu, including the Don't Trust the B series finale, which finds title character Chloe exploring her bitch origins while James Van Der Beek finds out his dad is not his biological father. If you're a fan of the show, head on over to Hulu now to find out how the DTTBIA23 saga wraps up.

'Happy Endings' Might Make a Neighborly Joke with 'Apartment 23'

Remember in the 90's when Urkel would show up on every ABC sitcom because of America's endless demand for more Urkel? Well, the showrunners of two present day ABC sitcoms are already talking about crossover. Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 creator Nahnatchka Kahn told TV Guide that Happy Endings executive producer Jonathan Groff has already approached her with one idea:

"At the end of one of their episodes, they're watching Dawson's Creek and they're like, 'That was a good show. Whatever happened to that guy?' and they have some theories about what he's doing now and then they go right into our show and we see what James is doing."

Watch Episode Two of Don't Trust the B- in Apt 23 Right Now

ABC already posted the pilot episode of Don't Trust the B- in Apt 23 to Hulu last week, giving us an early peek at the new sitcom. And now they've gone and posted the second episode as well, despite it not officially airing for a couple of weeks. Will they keep this up the whole season? Is this how things work now, with networks just putting their shows on the internet well before they air? Buzz is harnessed in mysterious ways, I suppose.

Trade Roundup: Up All Night, Last Man Standing, Don't Trust the B— in Apartment 23

Rumor has it that NBC may switch Up All Night to Thursdays after The Office and put Whitney on Wednesdays at 8. Here is a short play about this news: NBC: Well, it just makes more sense, 'cause Up All Night is single-camera and has a workplace element, like the other shows on Thursday. Everyone else: Duh.

Following the misogynist-pleasing news of Last Man Standing's full season order, creator Jack Burditt is leaving the show and Kevin Abbott is stepping in as showrunner. For much of the fall while Burditt was on a leave of absence, his "deputies" Marsh McCall and Andy Gordon were handling [...]

The Final 8 Episodes of 'Don't Trust the B' Will Debut Online Next Month

ABC canceled its critically-acclaimed comedy Don't Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 in January with eight new episodes left unaired, and now, it looks like you'll finally be able to see those episodes. Star Krysten Ritter revealed yesterday the the final eight episodes are set to debut on Hulu, iTunes, and ABC.com on May 17th. As you may recall, the series was canceled earlier this year after its ratings dropped following ABC moving it to a highly-competitive Tuesday night timeslot and premiering the season in late October for some reason. One thing ABC is doing right, however, is releasing the unseen episodes online next month. If [...]

ABC Announces Schedule; 'Happy Endings' Moves to Tuesday

There is a Tuesday at 9:00pm situation.  The best new comedy of two years ago (Happy Endings), last year (New Girl), and maybe this year (Go On) are all set to go up against each other. ABC announced today that Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, are leaving their cushy post-Modern Family slots for Tuesday nights. Happy Endings is the best and the funniest thing ever, and the move does suggest that ABC believes in it, but it's still nerve-wracking. The Neighbors slips into that slot and gives Wednesday nights a complete family focus. Also, ABC announced they are looking to revive TGIF by moving [...]
