Comedian Jason Woliner, the non-performing fourth member of Human Giant and a resident writer/director on Adult Swim's Eagleheart, attempted to get into the novelty T-shirt business last week, but so far, it's been a complete disaster. Woliner started his business, the Je Shirt Company, last Tuesday to market a "Che Leno" novelty shirt, a mash-up of Jay Leno and Che Guevara's faces. Customers were unable to recognize the face as being Jay Leno's and the shirt had to be redesigned, kicking off a series of mishaps and public Twitter meltdowns that continue to this day. Woliner has lost thousands of dollars on the shirt line in [...]
Eagleheart, Adult Swim’s fast-paced action-comedy starring Chris Elliott, premieres its second season tonight at midnight, and from what I’ve seen, this season will see the show become one of the craziest and funniest comedies on the air. I got to watch the first few episodes of the new season, and while I enjoyed Eagleheart last year, Season 2 blows it out of the water. Seriously, this is some awesome, really funny stuff that you shouldn’t miss, and you don’t have to have seen the first season to jump in this year.
I recently sat down with the show’s star, living comedy legend Chris Elliott, and the writers/executive producers Andrew [...]
Good news for comedy fans and bad news for sky-dwelling villains: Adult Swim just picked up the excellent Eagleheart for a second season. No word on when the season will start or how many episodes it will consist of, but one thing is for sure: Chris Elliott will still be in it. And that's really all the info you need.
“What do you say we go hang around the ladies’ changing rooms at the TJ Maxx for a while and then go to the morgue?”
Re-read that sentence, take a good look at it. It’s a line spoken by Chris Elliott’s character in last night’s Eagleheart, and I can’t think of another show on the air that could pull of a line as twisted and odd as that one. That’s because Eagleheart is a show unlike any other on TV; it marches to the beat of its own drum. Tonally, the show falls somewhere between the genre-mocking tongue-in-cheek humor of Chris Elliott’s earlier work and an absurdist, joke-filled Conan [...]
Next week, Adult Swim is debuting Eagleheart, a new live action series starring Chris Elliott and produced by Conan O’Brien through his company, Conaco Productions. The show has been picked up for a 12 episode run, with each installment lasting 15 minutes. Eagleheart is an over-the-top action-comedy series in which Chris Elliott plays US marshal Chris Monsanto. The series was inspired by the corny dialogue and action of Chuck Norris’s Walker, Texas Ranger. In fact, Eagleheart co-creator Michael Koman mentioned in a recent interview that he had a hand in creating the popular “Walker, Texas Ranger lever” segments when he was a writer for Late Night, so it’s [...]
Chris Elliott was on Letterman last night, and he announced that his Adult Swim series Eagleheart was just picked up for a third season, which is great news for the hilarious, offbeat show (and TV, in general). In other Chris Elliott news, his new book The Guy Under the Sheets: The Unauthorized Autobiography, a fake tell-all memoir, comes out tomorrow and is available for pre-order on Amazon now. As if that weren't already enough Chris Elliott stuff for you today, here's his Letterman appearance from last night where he debuts a clip from his (fake) new History Channel show, Gay Pawn:
Have you been watching Eagleheart on Adult Swim? If you haven't checked it out yet, tonight's episode, entitled "Death Punch," sounds like a good one to start off with. Here's what Jason Woliner, who wrote and directed tonight's episode, told me about it: Death Punch is hands down my favorite episode of Eagleheart. It was the actually the first episode we shot but was deemed a little too aggressively strange to be used an introduction to the show. Well, it's been five weeks, so hopefully America is ready! Fun fact: Chris Elliott complained not a single time after taking multiple "blood cannon blasts" to the face during the shooting [...]
With the outrageously funny Eagleheart, Adult Swim continues its recent live action hot streak, delivering a series that lives up to the quality of Children's Hospital and Delocated. The first episode, “Get Worse Soon,” aired late last night and it exceeded the high expectations I had for the series. It’s great to see Chris Elliott back in a leading role (his first since 1994’s Cabin Boy), but he’s not the only one doing exceptional work here. Eagleheart is a production brimming with talent on both sides of the camera.
Going in, I had some reservations about whether or not the 15-minute format is right for this series. Without commercials, [...]
Currently in the midst of its second season, Adult Swim’s 11-minute crime-comedy Eagleheart has quickly emerged as one of the fastest and funniest shows on TV. For the uninitiated, Eagleheart stars Chris Elliott, Maria Thayer (Strangers with Candy), and Brett Gelman (Comedy Bang Bang) as a trio of sociopathic U.S. Marshals who wind up in all kinds of exceedingly strange and hyper-violent scenarios week to week. Eagleheart is put out by Conan O’Brien’s production company and written by longtime Conan writers Michael Koman and Andrew Weinberg and Human Giant's Jason Woliner, who manage to cram a full 30 minutes worth of story into each 11-minute installment.
Eagleheart returns to Adult Swim on April 12 at midnight, and with it comes the return of suspenseful music, Michael Gladis' deep Orson Welles voice, spurting blood, spurting blood, spurting blood, spurting vomit, and spurting blood. Based solely on this promo, that is. (Also more spurting blood.)
Last night’s episode of Eagleheart began with a series of hot air balloons crimes, in a very funny scene that would be the broadest thing in any other comedy on TV. Here, it’s merely the set-up for a story exploring the intricacies of sky crime. You see, in the Eagleheart universe, there are no laws governing what happens in the sky, so it’s a hotbed of illegal activity run by an eccentric evil genius.
So far, Eagleheart has made its villains memorable and distinct from one another. The strong bad guys add an extra dimension to the show, and it’s always great seeing what dangerous freak the writers will [...]
Just a friendly reminder that Eagleheart, Chris Elliott's awesome new show on Adult Swim, premieres tonight at 11:59pm. Check it out! I've seen the first couple episodes, and they're absolutely hilarious.
