HBO Orders 18 Episodes of Danny McBride's New Show 'Vice Principals'

Danny McBride is coming back to HBO with a brand new show. The pay cable network has ordered 18 episodes of Vice Principals, a new comedy starring McBride as a high school administrator. The show was co-created by McBride and his Eastbound & Down partner-in-crime Jody Hill, and it follows "a high school and the people who almost run it, the vice principals." HBO has yet to announce when Vice Principals will premiere or how its 18 episodes will be split up into seasons. McBride and Hill's last series, Eastbound & Downended its four-season run on HBO last year.

What's on TV This Week: 'Eagleheart' Returns and 'Eastbound & Down' Ends Its Run (Again)

The calendar year is winding down, but there's still plenty of exciting stuff happening in the TV world. Adult Swim's Eagleheart, starring Chris Elliott, returns for its third season Thursday night at midnight. Unlike the first couple seasons of the show, season three will follow one long story arc under the title Eagleheart: Paradise Rising. Just like one long Eagleheart movie. The 10-part run of episodes sees co-stars Maria Thayer and Brett Gelman returning as Chris Elliott's Chris Monsanto goes on a "quest to find his missing friend, prove his innocence in a ghastly death and uncover the shocking truth behind the origins of the U.S. Marshals Service." Talking to Ken Marino About ‘Bad Milo!’, ‘Eastbound & Down’, and Playing Both Nice Guys and Jerks

If there’s one actor who possesses the sheer gravitas to play a man plagued by a murderous ass demon, that actor is Ken Marino. As one of the many talents to spring from the MTV sketch group The State, Marino has starred in a number of classics that have become required viewing for any modern comedy fan: Wet Hot American Summer, The Ten, Party Down, Childrens Hospital, and, most recently, the horror-comedy destined for cult status, Bad Milo! Executive produced by the Duplass brothers and featuring Marino as a downtrodden nice guy whose stress at work and at home physically manifests itself as a bloodthirsty butt monster, Bad Milo! [...]

Danny McBride Wants to Cast Lindsay Lohan in His New HBO Show

Earlier this month, we reported that Lindsay Lohan is guest starring in the upcoming fourth and final season of Danny McBride's Eastbound & Down, but it looks like McBride and Lohan may not be done working together just yet. TMZ reports that McBride was so impressed with Lohan's work on Eastbound that he and Lohan had "several serious talks" on set about her starring in a new HBO show he's developing. According to the report, Lohan "loves the idea and is hoping it works out." The project in question is a previously-reported half-hour high school comedy in the vein of Eastbound & Down that McBride is developing [...]

Danny McBride and Jody Hill Are Developing a High School Comedy for HBO

Eastbound & Down is set to debut its fourth and final season on HBO this September, but co-creators Danny McBride and Jody Hill already have another project set up at the network. HBO President Michael Lombardo told the press yesterday that McBride and Hill are developing a half-hour comedy set at a high school for the network. "They're taking a look at high school life," Lombardo says. "It's a really great, funny, quintessentially Danny and Jody idea." In addition the untitled high school project, McBride and Hill are producing a new animated series for FXX that's expected to launch early next year. Called Chozen, it follows a [...]

'Eastbound & Down's Fourth Season Was Its Best Yet

I was skeptical when creators Danny McBride and Jody Hill opted to bring back Eastbound & Down for another season after ending the show with a well-received finale last year. It's rare for a show to come back from the dead like that and seems like a risk, but that risk paid off. Thanks to a few key cast additions (particularly standout Ken Marino) and Kenny Powers' new arenas to run amuck (a sports talk show and raising a family in suburbia), this was the most satisfying and fresh season of Eastbound & Down's four-season run.

On Kimmel, Danny McBride and Steve Little Talked Injuries and Famous Guest Stars on 'Eastbound & Down'

Danny McBride and Steve Little of HBO's Eastbound & Down stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to talk about the fourth season of the show and how Danny is really a disappointingly nice guy compared to Kenny Powers. Below, they talk about Marilyn Manson, Steve's attempts to connect with Lindsay Lohan, and Matthew McConaughey's advice for wooing the ladies.

Here's Footage of Kenny Powers on Roller Skates

Here's a promo for the upcoming fourth and final season of Eastbound & Down, premiering September 29th. It features Kenny Powers tearing it up on roller skates. Danny McBride was sent to the hospital after in July after injuring himself while filming a roller skate scene for the show, but it's all worth it because he looks pretty badass on the roller rink.

Danny McBride Was Rushed to the Hospital After an 'Eastbound & Down' Rollerskating Accident

Danny McBride had a small accident yesterday while filming Eastbound & Down's upcoming fourth seasonTMZ reports that while filming a scene involving his character Kenny Powers rollerskating, McBride fell hard. Producers sent him to the hospital after he was in a lot of pain, but he was quickly released and is totally fine. "I busted my ass on roller skates," McBride commented. "The roller skates won."

The new season of the show (spoilers follow) picks up with Kenny Powers a several years after the season three finale, in which he got back into the majors but faked his death to be with April Buchanon and his kid. Powers [...]

Talking to Co-Creator Jody Hill About the Final Season of 'Eastbound & Down'

After four years, HBO's Eastbound & Down ended its run last night. It was actually the second series finale for Eastbound, after co-creators Danny McBride and Jody Hill surprisingly brought the show back for a fourth season after ending it in season three last year.

I talked to Jody Hill last week about Eastbound's fourth season, the new HBO high school show he's working on with Danny McBride, and whether we'll ever see Kenny Powers again.

'Eastbound & Down' Season 4 Justifies Resurrecting the Show

It came as a bit of a shock last year when Eastbound & Down was renewed by HBO for a fourth season. For years, showrunners Danny McBride and Jody Hill had been planning on ending Eastbound after its third season and they even wrote/shot/aired the last episode as a series finale. But after a few months, the duo decided to do one more season. Last year, they had wanted to show Kenny Powers as a settled-down family man with his new wife April, but actress Katy Mixon's busy schedule on CBS's Mike & Molly meant they couldn't get her full-time for their third year.

Scheduling worked out so that Mixon [...]

Watch the First Trailer for 'Eastbound & Down' Season 4

Here's the first trailer for Eastbound & Down's upcoming fourth season featuring actual footage from the show. It starts up September 29th, and now, thanks to this trailer, we know what the season's going to be about — and there's even a two-second glimpse of Ken Marino's character to boot.

Lindsay Lohan Is Guest Starring on 'Eastbound & Down'

Lindsay Lohan will be making an appearance on the upcoming fourth and final season of HBO's Eastbound & Down, E! Online reports. The actress was recently in North Carolina shooting scenes for the show. If you don't want major spoilers about the new season, stop reading this right now. E! writes that Lohan is playing "the daughter of one of the show's main characters and was filming a wedding scene set many years in the future. And yes, she was the bride." Off that description, there's no way she's not Kenny Powers's daughter. Lohan joins new Eastbound guest stars Ken Marino and Tim Heidecker. The eight-episode fourth [...]
