Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, and Chris Elliott to Star in CBC Comedy Series 'Schitt's Creek'

What's better news here — Variety's report that Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Chris Elliott, and Levy's son Dan are set to star in a half-hour Canadian comedy, or that the show is called Schitt's Creek? According to the report, the show — which was co-created by the two Levys — focuses on "video store billionaire Johnny Rose (Levy), his soap star wife Moira (O’Hara) and their kids, who suddenly find themselves broke. They are forced to leave their pampered lives to regroup and rebuild their empire from within the rural city limits of their only remaining asset — Schitt’s Creek, an arm pit of a town they once [...]

Christopher Guest Is Working on a Television Show

Christopher Guest has been mostly inactive since 2006's For Your Consideration but that is about to change. It's being reported that Guest is working with Jim Piddock to create a television show. Television seems like a natural fit for the Guest and his ability to create completely lived-in worlds for his characters. The hope is to have it run commercial-free on a network like HBO or Showtime, or maybe even Netflix.  Entitled Family Tree, the show will be primarily improvised and will about a man, played by Chris O'Dowd, tracking down his real family. They are going to need do a lot of prosthetic eyebrow work on O'Dowd [...]

Investigation: What the Heck Has Jim's Dad from American Pie Been Up to?

To many, Eugene Levy is Jim’s Dad, and Jim’s Dad only. Not a cast member of the brilliant SCTV or as a mainstay in Christopher Guest’s filmography, but as the father of the guy who once fucked a pie. It makes sense, though. While a majority of the original cast from the first three American Pie films left the franchise after 2003’s American Wedding, Levy continued to appear in each subsequent straight-to-DVD installment, from 2005’s Band Camp to 2009’s The Book of Love, with 2006’s The Naked Mile and 2007’s Beta House sandwiched in-between. I hadn't seen any of the non-theatrical films, so on the eve of American Reunion, [...]

Eugene Levy Discusses Being Funny in Funny and Unfunny Movies

Eugene Levy is a very funny and talented fellow who has been able to make a career out of Christopher Guest films and small roles in bad movies. For every Best in Show there is about five New York Minutes. This weekend he spoke to NPR's Weekend Edition about comedy, improvising with Tyler Perry, and getting get smart laughs from dumb jokes. He explained:

"Believe me, I've done movies that are just the lowest of the low. I've done movies that are really done without a hell of a lot of intelligence going on. But for me, doing what I do in the movie, if I do [...]

American Reunion Trailer Suggests The Unholy Coupling of Stifler's Mom And Jim's Dad

The first minute and 28 seconds of the new American Reunion trailer are fine. Married life sucks, boobs are great, beaches, drinking, sure. But the reason the movie could actually be worth spending twelve dollars on is revealed at the minute and a half mark: Jim's Dad and Stifler's Mom are totally gonna DO IT. So weird, and yet maybe so right? If only the whole movie could star Eugene Levy and Jennifer Coolidge and center around this budding romance, from its early whispers to the moment they die in each others' arms. (By the way, do we think the next one is gonna be called American Funeral, or [...]
