Eugene Levy Discusses Being Funny in Funny and Unfunny Movies

Eugene Levy is a very funny and talented fellow who has been able to make a career out of Christopher Guest films and small roles in bad movies. For every Best in Show there is about five New York Minutes. This weekend he spoke to NPR's Weekend Edition about comedy, improvising with Tyler Perry, and getting get smart laughs from dumb jokes. He explained:

"Believe me, I've done movies that are just the lowest of the low. I've done movies that are really done without a hell of a lot of intelligence going on. But for me, doing what I do in the movie, if I do [...]

American Reunion Trailer Suggests The Unholy Coupling of Stifler's Mom And Jim's Dad

The first minute and 28 seconds of the new American Reunion trailer are fine. Married life sucks, boobs are great, beaches, drinking, sure. But the reason the movie could actually be worth spending twelve dollars on is revealed at the minute and a half mark: Jim's Dad and Stifler's Mom are totally gonna DO IT. So weird, and yet maybe so right? The hope is to have it run commercial-free on a network like HBO or Showtime, or maybe even Netflix.  Entitled Family Tree, the show will be primarily improvised and will about a man, played by Chris O'Dowd, tracking down his real family. They are going to need do a lot of prosthetic eyebrow work on O'Dowd [...]

Investigation: What the Heck Has Jim's Dad from American Pie Been Up to?

It makes sense, though. While a majority of the original cast from the first three American Pie films left the franchise after 2003’s American Wedding, Levy continued to appear in each subsequent straight-to-DVD installment, from 2005’s Band Camp to 2009’s The Book of Love, with 2006’s The Naked Mile and 2007’s Beta House sandwiched in-between. I hadn't seen any of the non-theatrical films, so on the eve of American Reunion, [...]
