The President of CBS revealed some surprising information about how the ninth and final season of How I Met Your Mother will play out this, so, needless to say, if you don't want recent/future stuff spoiled, stop reading this now. Last week's Season 8 finale featured the audience finally catching a glimpse of the titular mother, played by Cristin Milioti (Sleepwalk with Me), but she didn't end up actually meeting Ted. Co-creator Carter Bays previously said the final season will tell "the epic story of the longest wedding weekend ever," and CBS boss Nina Tassler confirmed to TV Line today that the entire 24-episode season will take [...]

Hitfix's Alan Sepinwall has a long interview with Parks and Recreation co-creator/showrunner Mike Schur today, in which he reveals they made the first of tonight's two new episodes a possible series finale because NBC had only ordered a 13-episode season originally. The network ordered nine more episodes for a full 22 shortly after the episode was filmed, but the writers made it a special episode with a sense of closure just in case. Here's Schur explaining the situation:
"The way we operate every year is we that don't know what our future is. So we try to tell the juiciest, most interesting stories we can tell. And at the end [...]

Don’t get me wrong, Lena has hit the head squarely in terms of entertainment. However, as speaking for a voice of a generation, what generation is that—overtly Anglo, upper-middle class, self-absorbed and self-critiqued with a pronounced gumption for entitlement coupled with at best, dubious work ethic…if so, then yes, she does speak for those folks.
Yes. That is exactly whom she speak for or as. Girls is a show that captures one of the worst parts of the current worst generation ever* and that [...]

It has been speculated for a week or so but it still feels nice to get an official word. As we reported, 30 Rock will be given an abbreviated final season. It's sad news for a show arguably still at the height of its powers but it’s a hell of a lot better than it just getting taken off without a finale. In a time rife with cancellation speculation (band name?), it’s nice for a show like 30 Rock to be able to write itself a proper ending; it's what Tina Fey always wanted. No word on Community and Parks & Recreation but things still look solid, [...]
