ABC Family Orders a Pilot from 'The Office's Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky, and Danny Chun

Former Office writers and producers Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky, and Danny Chun have a new pilot in the works at ABC Family. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trio has landed a pilot order at the network for Gorgeous Morons, a comedy about "two handsome, but ridiculously simple brothers — one is a model, the other a personal trainer — who find their lives rocked by their brainy new roommate, a female literature doctorate whose looks are, by their standards, in desperate need of help." Chun, who is also behind Jermaine Fowler's ABC pilot Delores & Jermaine, will write the script.

Stephen Merchant Piloting for HBO

HBO has ordered a pilot for a new show co-written/directed/starring Stephen Merchant. Entitled Hello Ladies, the show focuses on a tall British fellow in LA looking for the love of his life. This isn't so easy, as the city's young and beautiful are not the most willing to allow the gangling and awkward into their beautiful inner circle of beautiful people. The show was co-created/co-written by former US Office writers-producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. They're best known for writing the hit comedy Bad Teacher and for recently failing to pen an agreeable third Ghostbusters movie. It's good to see Merchant working with someone other than Ricky Gervais. [...]

CBS Orders 'Bad Teacher' to Pilot

CBS has commissioned a sitcom pilot based on the 2011 movie Bad Teacher, Entertainment Weekly reports. Like to film, the show will focus on a misbehavin' junior high teacher who is looking for her next husband. It's a busy pilot season for Eisenberg and Stupnitsky, who are also producing Trophy Wife, starring Malin Akerman as a cleaned-up party girl who falls in love with a guy (Bradley Whitford) with kids and two ex-wives, and adapting the UK series Pulling, both at ABC. There's no word yet on [...]

HBO Orders Stephen Merchant's 'Hello Ladies' to Series

The Office and Extras co-creator Stephen Merchant's HBO pilot Hello Ladies just got picked up by the pay cable network for an eight-episode run, Deadline reports. Merchant writes, directs, and stars in the new series, in which he'll play a gawky Englishman looking for love in the States. The pilot co-starred Nate Torrence, Christine Woods, and Kevin Weisman, and the show will be produced by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who worked on the US version of The Office. We've seen a lot of Ricky Gervais since Extras went off the air, but it'll be nice to get some more Stephen Merchant on the TV screen for [...]
