Watch Laraine Newman and Wendie Malick in Season 38 of 'Girls'

Here's the zillion parody of HBO's Girls, but don't let that prevent you from watching it because this one's actually good. Written and directed by Happy Endings/Will & Grace producer Gail Lerner, it's a depiction of a hypothetical 38th season of Girls that stars Laraine Newman, Wendie Malick, Mindy Sterling, and Martin Starr (who's two young to be in this thing, but I'll let it slide).

Lorne Michaels, D.L. Hughley, 'Girls,' and 'Louie' Win Peabody Awards

The winners of the 2013 Peabody Awards, given for excellence in radio and TV were just announced, and Lorne Michaels, Louie, Girls, and D.L. Hughley's Comedy Central special The Endangered List all scored prizes. Lorne Michaels's award is a rare achievement in that the Peabody Awards rarely recognize individuals and give the majority of their accolades to TV shows or specials, but if anyone deserves it, it's the guy who simultaneously produces SNL, 30 Rock, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Portlandia. Portlandia was one of last year's Peabody winners alongside Parks and Recreation and The Colbert Report, two rare top-notch TV comedies that Lorne Michaels doesn't [...]

Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner Are Developing a New HBO Show

Girls star/creator Lena Dunham and her co-showrunner Jenni Konner are teaming up again to create a new potential series for HBO, Deadline reports. It's a comedy based on Betty Halbreich, New York's preeminent personal shopper, who's spent decades shopping for and dressing rich and famous New York socialites as a personal shopper and dresser. Halbreich has worked with Joan Rivers, Meryl Streep, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Katie Couric, and helped to design the look for HBO's Sex and the City and Woody Allen's early films. In addition to her fashion sense, she's also known for her "tart one-liners." HBO optioned Betty Halbreich's upcoming memoir, All Dressed Up And Everywhere To Go, [...]

Allison Williams Tells Jimmy Kimmel About Being the Daughter of #1 Hanson Fan Brian Williams

Here's Girls star Allison Williams on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, discussing her father Brian Williams and revealing for the first time that he was a giant fan of the band Hanson early on. You'll never be able to watch the news the same way again.

Lena Dunham and Craig Ferguson Have a Chat

Here's Girls star and creator Lena Dunham on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last night, with Ferguson comforting Dunham a lot and explaining the ins and outs of showbiz to her. The most important thing we learn is that Lena Dunham doesn't have the power to decide when the commercial breaks go on a late night show.

Lena Dunham Is Grossed Out by the 'Girls' Porn Parody

Hustler is making a porn parody of HBO's Girls, and the star/creator of the series, Lena Dunham, is not pleased about it. News of the porn parody came out this week, and here's how porno news site XBIZ described the adult film, which is titled This Ain't Girls XXX:

In the XXX parody, Hannah (Alex Chance) decides to forsake men, and boyfriend Adam, to experiment with lesbianism. After a few satisfying jaunts she returns to Adam (Richie Calhoun) – and mankind. Adam accepts her back into the fold, but, true to the original show, adds a dominant and quirky dimension to the scene.

“[Adam’s] like, ‘OK, then crawl [...]

'Girls' Season 2 Review: Things Get Dark

Over the course of its second season, Girls has solidified itself into the most analyzed show on the internet, with each episode bringing up a whole host of issues and a mountain of blog posts. While season two started out on upbeat notes with each of the titular girls going after new beginnings, the second half of the season took on darker material, turning the show from a comedy with satiric edge to more of an out-and-out drama with humorous elements.

Early in the season, Hannah and company played at adulthood, but mid-way they turned to actively coveting the lives of older, more successful people. Episode 5 was a [...]

You Can Watch New Episodes of 'Girls' and 'Enlightened' Early on HBO Go Today

To avoid competing with the Super Bowl for ratings this Sunday, HBO has made the newest episode of its series Girls and Enlightened each available on its streaming service HBO Go right now. The episodes will also air on HBO early this Saturday (in additional to their normal Sunday timeslots) to avoid a Super Bowl scheduling conflict. Or you could just ask every one at your Super Bowl party to take a quick half-hour break from the big game to see what Lena Dunham and her friends are up to. Your call.

Of Course Someone Is Tying to Make a Reality Show Based on 'Girls'

According to a recent Craigslist posting, an "Emmy-winning production company" is developing a TV series inspired by Lena Dunham's HBO series Girls. Here's a bit of the gross casting call:

Ever feel like life in the big frantic city is just too much? Are you a twenty-something young woman seeking fame, fortune, love or even a hookup with potential? How do you get from here to there when you can't even get a seat on the L train! Come to a casting call with our Emmy-winning production company and tell us your dreams and woes, your highs and lows, your tales of *** in the city and the [...]

'Girls' Season Two: Older and Not All That Much Wiser

This Sunday, the show the internet loves to argue about returns to HBO for its second season. That's Lena Dunham's Girls, of course, a half hour comedy that's been called everything from zeitgeisty to depraved to… god, I am not going to repeat that voice-of-a-generation quote that's always misinterpreted.

Many critical pixels have been posted about Girls, the recipient of extreme praise (to which I've certainly contributed) and much criticism, some totally fair, much some variety of pearl-clutching or

Christopher Abbott Leaves 'Girls' After Conflict with Lena Dunham

Christopher Abbott, who plays Marnie's on-again, off-again boyfriend Charlie on HBO's Girls, has left the series following creative differences with Lena Dunham, Page Six reports. Abbott has been a frequent recurring guest on the show since Season 1, but his role was looking as if it would be beefed up in the upcoming third season before this happened. Page Six's anonymous source told them, "They've just started work on Season 3, and Chris is at odds with Lena. He didn't like the direction things are going in, which seems a bit odd since the show put him on the map." There's no word on how much of Season [...]

'Louie,' 'Girls,' 'Portlandia,' 'Modern Family,' and 'Simpsons' Win WGA Awards

The Writers Guild of America Awards were held this weekend and a lot of critically-acclaimed, beloved comedies won prizes. The three person writing staff of Louie (Pamela Adlon, Vernon Chatman, and Louis C.K. himself) won the Comedy Series Awards, and C.K.'s doing the bulk of the work there anyway. Lena Dunham, Jenni Konner, and company won the WGA's New Series award, beating out Veep and The Mindy Project. Portlandia, The Simpsons, and Modern Family all received awards too. While most TV awards shows tend to heap prizes on much-derided series like Two and a Half Men and other Chuck Lorre fare, you have to admit the WGA Awards are [...]

HBO Officially Renews 'Girls' for a 12-Episode Third Season

HBO has officially renewed Lena Dunham's series Girls for a third season consisting of 12 episodes, expanding from the previous season orders of 10 each. We reported the news first in November when Judd Apatow blabbed about the show receiving a third season renewal before the second season even started airing, and this week, Lena Dunham told Alec Baldwin Girls had been renewed during an appearance on his podcast Here's the Thing, but a press release deployed today by HBO is the first official word from the network about the third season. It's good news that fans are getting an extra two episodes next season, but it also [...]

Lena Dunham Tells Jon Stewart About 'Girls,' the Golden Globes, and 58-Year-Olds Wanting Her Dead

First-time Daily Show guest Lena Dunham and Jon Stewart had a nice chat last night about the ins and outs of her newfound fame and, of course, discussed how much bile and jealousy is thrown at her on the internet, with Dunham concluding that, "You definitely do get the sense that there are some 58-year-olds who want you dead." She also discussed how much she reads about herself online, revealing that she limits herself  to reading the top three items in Google News about herself. That means Lena Dunham probably won't come across this post, not that there's anything offensive to her in it anyway.
