Rebel Wilson to Star in 'Private Benjamin' Remake

The latest '80s comedy Hollywood is trying to remake is Private Benjamin, and Rebel Wilson has landed the lead role, The Tracking Board reports. Wilson will play a female military recruit who finds the Army to be harder than she expected. A director has yet to be attached to the project.

The original Private Benjamin, released in 1980, starred Goldie Hawn and was one of the highest-grossing movies of that year. The film consistently ends up on lists of the greatest comedies of all-time, like the American Film Institute's list of top 100 comedies (ranked 82). Anna Faris had previously been cast as the lead in the remake, [...]

Goldie Hawn To Star In HBO's The Viagra Diaries

Rather than just nodding politely as people make cracks about the aging stars of The Sex and The City, creator Darren Star has instead decided to scream "What?," drop the mic and walk off stage by casting Goldie Hawn in  The Viagra Diaries. In Hawn's first role since 2002, the HBO series follows a woman "who, after her husband has a 'mid-life crisis' at 65 and leaves her, struggles with being single for the first time in 35 years." More importantly, who will be the Samantha?

Jason Bateman, Zac Efron, Leslie Mann, Goldie Hawn to Play a Mourning Jewish(?) Family

This Is Where I Leave You is the story of four siblings who come back to their old home to sit shiva for their deceased father. The increasingly un-Jewish looking Bateman, Efron, and Mann are in talks to play three of these siblings and Hawn will be the mother. Jonathan Tropper, the author who wrote the original novel, is adapting the film for Adam Shankman (Rock of Ages and Hairspray) to direct. Considering Shankman's background, I expect a festive version of the Mourner's Kaddish and rip-roaring dance number where the cast saunters around the house covering mirrors.

Trade Roundup: Ben Stiller, Paul Feig, Celeste and Jesse, For A Good Time

Ben Stiller will star in, direct, and executive produce a comedy pilot for HBO called All Talk. Written by Jonathan Safran Foer, it's about "the daily and life-altering dramas of a Jewish family in Washington, DC" and is being called “politically, religiously, culturally, intellectually and sexually irreverent.” That is a lot of ways to be irreverent. Let's see if I can be irreverent in all those ways in one sentence: "Hey Obama, Jesus, Broadway and Noam Chomsky: wanna fuck?" NAILED IT.

Paul Feig is on board to direct and executive produce an HBO pilot of his own, from Darren Star, the creator of Sex and the City. The [...]
