We're Still Waiting For 'The Mindy Project' to Become Great

The Mindy Project airs Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. eastern on Fox. The season premiere is tonight, but you can watch it online sooner than that.

The Mindy Project premiered one year ago as a sitcom that attempted to bring a romcom to the small screen, focusing on Mindy Lahiri, an OB-GYN obsessed with romcoms. The show attempted to balance the screen time between Mindy’s personal life with her friends and paramours and the assorted weirdos and/or jerks with whom she shares an office. But as early as the third episode, changes were being made, and by the middle of the season, Anna Camp, Stephen Toblowsky, Tommy Dewey, [...]

Timothy Olyphant, J.B. Smoove, and Just About Everyone Else Is Guest Starring on 'The League' This Season

The League creators Jeff Schaffer and Jackie Marcus Schaffer chatted with TVGuide today and spilled the beans about several exciting guest stars set to make appearances on the upcoming season, which debuts tonight on FX at 10:30. The many guest spots the Schaffers mention include Timothy Olyphant as "a white sushi chef," J.B. Smoove as a guy in a wheelchair who gets into a conflict with the guys, Julia Duffy as Kevin and Taco's mom, Robert Wagner as Pete's grandfather, Kristin Cavallari as the wife of NFL-er Jay Cutler, and as documented on Twitter with a faux-fistfight, Ken Marino will be playing the gang's high school enemy in an episode [...]

Seth Meyers and Ike Barinholtz Reminisce About Living in Amsterdam Together in Their Early 20s

The Mindy Project cast member Ike Barinholtz was a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night, and he and Meyers ended up telling stories about the time they spent living in Amsterdam working for the comedy group Boom Chicago. It involved a lot of riding old bikes, being chastised by Dutch people, and punching taxi drivers.

Talking to Ike Barinholtz About 'The Mindy Project', 'MADtv', and His 'Game of Thrones' Audition Tape

From Twitter buddy to staff writer to breakout series regular, Ike Barinholtz earned a well-deserved meteoric rise during the first season of The Mindy Project. The improv actor had initially befriended Mindy Kaling over Twitter, which led to an invitation to the writer’s room on her Fox sitcom, which in turn led to Barinholtz donning the medical scrubs of Morgan Tookers, the show’s eccentric yet affable ex-con nurse. Barinholtz’s character was a highlight in the comedy's freshman year, which should come as little surprise to anyone who knows him for his work as a former cast member on MADtv, or more recently as Eastbound & Down’s Ivan Drago-inspired Russian [...]

MadTV's Ike Barinholtz to Play a Ruskie Pitcher on Eastbound and Down

On the upcoming final season of Eastbound and Down, MadTV's Ike Barinholtz will be appearing in a five-episode arc (nearly the entire season) as "Ivan, a Russian superstar pitcher whom Kenny tries to take under his wing." I for one am looking forward to seeing a whole new side of Kenny Powers' racism next season when he starts brutally insulting Mother Russia.

Pete Holmes and Ike Barinholtz Confirm That They're Not the Same Person

The Mindy Project's Ike Barinholtz stopped by Pete Holmes's new show last night to address the fact that people can't tell them apart, and the two manage to make it delightfully weird in only five minutes. There's even an appearance from Seinfeld Batman.

Checking In with 'The Mindy Project' Halfway Through Season 1

It's been an unusual first season for The Mindy Project, with the show setting some kind of record for the insane amount of casting changes it's had so far. New shows sometimes have to make some minor casting tweaks a few episodes in, losing or gaining a character or two as the producers and network see fit. The Mindy Project, however, since its pilot has had three main cast members leave or have their roles downgraded and added one new character with two more new characters on the way in the second half of the season. That's not to say that the show's been a disaster – or anything close [...]
