Jack Black and James Marsden's 'The D Train' Premieres on May 8th

Jack Black and James Marsden recently teamed up for a new indie film called The D Train, and after a successful run at Sundance, the film is now headed to theaters on Friday, May 8th. According to Vanity Fair, the trailer has been edited to present the film as more of a high school reunion comedy rather than show its "darker sexual fixation undertones," so if you really want to know what The D Train is about you'll have to see it for yourself (or go for the spoilers here and here).

James Marsden Joins 'Anchorman 2' as a Rival News Anchor

James Marsden is the second new actor to be added to the Anchorman 2 cast after Kristen Wiig was hired to play Brick Tamland's love interest earlier this month. Deadline reports that Marsden's character is a rival anchor and nemesis to Ron Burgundy. Marsden, probably best known for playing Cyclops in the X-Men movies, has tons of background in comedy, having appeared in 30 Rock, Modern Family, and Death at a Funeral. Anchorman 2 plot details are being kept under wraps, but we do know that the movie takes place in 1978 and will tackle the birth of the 24-hour news cycle and increased diversity in TV [...]

Modern Family Recap: "Slow Down Your Neighbors"

Like Parks and Recreation and classic-era Simpsons, Modern Family does a remarkable job of giving its guest stars good roles. Nathan Lane was a mahvelous Pepper, Edward Norton made the world briefly care about Spandau Ballet again, and whoever cast Fred Willard as Phil’s dad deserves some sort of recognition.

Last night’s episode, the first in nearly a month, broke the trend, though. I enjoy James Marsden as an actor (and let’s face it, he’s one handsome man), and he seems very willing to do whatever’s asked of him, but his role as Barry didn’t really seem to have a purpose. Jokes about being spiritual — in this [...]

Jack Black and James Marsden to Star in the High School Reunion Comedy 'The D-Train'

Jack Black and James Marsden are starring in a movie together. THR reports that the film, called The D-Train, is a low-budget indie comedy about the chairman of a high school reunion committee (Black) desperate to get the most popular guy in school (Marsden), who's now a failed commercial actor in LA, to come to the reunion, and he travels to LA to do so. Mike White, who's also producing the movie, will play a supporting role as Black's only friend from high school and Nat Faxon is also in talks for a supporting role. Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, who wrote the Jim Carrey Yes Man [...]

Fun Thing to Buy of the Day: 'Robot & Frank'

Great news for grandpas and robots and the people who love them: Robot & Frank is now on DVD! The film, which came out last summer, tells the story of what happens when, instead of taking your aging father to a nursing home, you give him a robot. In the case of this movie, your father will use the robot to get back into the jewel-thieving business. Frank Langella stars as Frank with Peter Sarsgaard as the robot (named Robot), James Marsden as the enabling son, and Liv Tyler as the daughter. Susan Sarandon rounds out the cast as a local librarian and love interest for Frank. [...]

This 'Walk of Shame' Trailer Has a Lot of Funny People

Here's the first trailer for Steve Brill's next movie Walk of Shame, about an aspiring reporter whose one-night stand leaves her stranded in downtown with LA with only eight hours to get to a career-defining job interview. The trailer is full of wonderful comedy people like Elizabeth Banks, James Marsden, a brunette Gillian Jacobs, Bill Burr as a cop, Kevin Nealon in a helicopter, and a mulleted Tig Notaro.

James Marsden, Denise Richards Coming to 30 Rock This Season

30 Rock just started shooting its new season this week, and already the guest star reports are coming in. First up, Denise Richards will be coming on board for a one-episode appearance, although who she'll be playing hasn't been announced. Then, James Marsden has just signed on for a six-episode arc. His character details are also being kept under wraps, but I assume that he will play someone hunky. Another beau for Liz Lemon, perhaps? Or maybe a new nanny for Jack's daughter? Time will tell!

In any case, these two will be joining the previously-announced Will Arnett as guest stars in the upcoming season, which [...]
