Here's Michael Cera's brand new short film "Gregory Go Boom," which was just released today on JASH, the YouTube comedy channel Cera co-founded with Reggie Watts, Tim & Eric, and Sarah Silverman. Written and directed by Janicza Bravo, "Gregory Go Boom" stars Cera as a paraplegic guy trying to find independence. Sarah Burns and Brett Gelman also star. This is Michael Cera's second short film for JASH, following "Brazzaville Teen-Ager," which debuted last month, just in case you want to have yourself a very short Michael Cera short film marathon.
YouTube is holding its first-ever comedy week from May 19 to 25th, and they got Sarah Silverman, Rainn Wilson, Jake & Amir, the Gregory Brothers, and a bunch of people I'm not familiar with together to film this promo. They're not in this promo, but Vince Vaughn, Seth Rogen, Michael Cera, Ed Helms, Garfunkel & Oates, and Norm Macdonald will also be participating in the event, a week of stand-up, sketches, music, and live performances, to finally bring some comedy to the serious, serious video site.
Here's the first episode of Reggie Watts's new JASH web series, Life on the Road, which documents him on tour. The first episode finds him performing with Police Academy sound SFX whiz Michael Winslow for a meeting of the weird noise-making minds.
Here's "Brazzaville Teen-Ager," a brand new short film starring, directed, and co-written by Michael Cera and based on the story of the same name by Bruce Jay Friedman. YouTube channel JASH released the short yesterday, which follows a young man trying to save his father (Charles Grodin) from death by getting his grumpy boss (Jack O'Connell) to sing back-up vocals on a Kelis song. Michael Cera's directorial career starts here.
The new YouTube channel JASH gave comedian Hannibal Buress and Chance the Rapper 5,000 dollars to make a music video, and here's the result: a music video about Hannibal and Chance spending 5,000 dollars.
Here's the latest episode of Paul Scheer's new JASH web series The ArScheerio Paul Show, which features him recreating a different Arsenio Hall Show interview each week as Arsenio Hall. The latest episode has Key & Peele's Jordan Peele playing Tupac Shakur in what would totally feel like something Scheer and Peele made up if not for the original interview being available online.
Check out the real 1993 Arsenio/Tupac interview below:
Here's the trailer for an upcoming short film called "Gregory Go Boom" that stars Michael Cera as a paraplegic man leaving his house for the first time. Written and directed by Janicza Bravo, "Gregory" will be the second short Cera releases on the YouTube network JASH, which he founded and is a partner in alongside comedians Sarah Silverman, Reggie Watts, Tim Heidecker, and Eric Wareheim. Cera's previous short, "Brazzaville Teen-Ager," debuted on JASH last month, just in case this trailer got you in the mood for a full-length Michael Cera short film.
Tim and Eric’s new YouTube channel JASH may not have the same amazing ring to it as Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, but fans of the TV show will be happy to know JASH has a lot of the same sensibilities.
And it would be one thing if JASH was exclusively a venture between Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, but the channel has comedic heavyweights Reggie Watts, Sarah Silverman, and Michael Cera as partners as well.
Together, they're producing short films, music videos, web series, and other projects for JASH, which Wareheim describes as a “place of good.” Since Tim and Eric went off Adult Swim three [...]
Tim & Eric Week continues on the YouTube channel JASH. Yesterday, they debuted the duo's new web series Tim & Eric Go Pro, and today, they've released this video, "Tim and Gelman Have Lunch," in which comedians Tim Heidecker and Brett Gelman have lunch and a conversation together. It's in four parts. The rest are embedded below. The video is a sequel to a 2011 short that Heidecker and Gelman made (also below), so now you can watch these two weirdos have two meals together.
Comedian/musician Reggie Watts is currently filming the second season of IFC's Comedy Bang Bang, and he just released two music videos for the new YouTube channel JASH, which he's collaborating on with Michael Cera, Sarah Silverman, and Tim & Eric. Watts sat down for a question-and-answer session on Reddit yesterday, and here are all the best bits and pieces from it:
On Comedy Bang Bang Season 2:
We're halfway through filming season 2 of Comedy Bang Bang. Scott is one of the smartest, funniest guys I know and it's a pleasure to work with him. We goof around and make bad puns to each other a lot.
The very funny Jenny Slate has a brand new web series called Catherine that was just released by the YouTube comedy channel JASH. Slate stars in the show, which she co-wrote with her Marcel the Shell collaborator Dean Fleischer-Camp, who also directed the series. Catherine is a 12-part saga and the first three episodes were released this week. It's hard to tell where this is going in future installments, but things look pretty dark and ominous from here.
Here's "Fête des Pets," a French short film Sarah Silverman made for JASH, a YouTube comedy channel in which she is a partner. It's a little creepy, like all French short films.
Here's the inaugural episode of The ArScheerio Paul Show, Paul Scheer's new web series for the YouTube channel JASH that involves him recreating interviews from The Arsenio Hall Show. First up is the infamous Bill Clinton appearance, with Scheer playing Arsenio and Will Arnett as Clinton. Scheer called it "one of the weirdest things I've ever done," but you can decide for yourself where this falls in the Paul Scheer weirdness spectrum.
Comedy duo Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim have a new six-day web series starting today and running daily until Sunday. Here's the first episode of the show, called Tim & Eric Go Pro. It comes from JASH, a new YouTube channel featuring original content from Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, and Reggie Watts. This is Tim & Eric Week over at JASH. In addition to Tim & Eric Go Pro, a faux-reality show that sees the duo strapping Go Pro cameras ("the camera of choice for surfers, skaters and other extreme athletes") to their heads for a week, there will be more Tim & Eric stuff deployed throughout the week. At [...]
