Jason Woliner's "Je Shirt" Made Its Way Into 'The Simpsons' Last Night

Here's a still from last night's new Simpsons episode, which featured one of the characters wearing a "Je Shirt" – the novelty Jay Leno/Che Guevara T-shirt line created by Jason Woliner of Human Giant and Eagleheart fame. The shirt was worn by the host of a Pawn Stars-y show that Homer is watching at the top of the episode. The reference was probably lost on the vast majority of the Simpsons audience but it's pretty great that Woliner's novelty T-shirt joke from three months ago has now been immortalized on The Simpsons. I bet this almost makes up for the novelty T-shirt line completely destroying his life.

Talking to Chris Elliott and the Writers of Eagleheart About the New Season, Which Starts Tonight!

Eagleheart, Adult Swim’s fast-paced action-comedy starring Chris Elliott, premieres its second season tonight at midnight, and from what I’ve seen, this season will see the show become one of the craziest and funniest comedies on the air. I got to watch the first few episodes of the new season, and while I enjoyed Eagleheart last year, Season 2 blows it out of the water. Seriously, this is some awesome, really funny stuff that you shouldn’t miss, and you don’t have to have seen the first season to jump in this year.

I recently sat down with the show’s star, living comedy legend Chris Elliott, and the writers/executive producers Andrew [...]

Jason Woliner's New Novelty Shirt Business is a Fiasco

Comedian Jason Woliner, the non-performing fourth member of Human Giant and a resident writer/director on Adult Swim's Eagleheart, attempted to get into the novelty T-shirt business last week, but so far, it's been a complete disaster. Woliner started his business, the Je Shirt Company, last Tuesday to market a "Che Leno" novelty shirt, a mash-up of Jay Leno and Che Guevara's faces. Customers were unable to recognize the face as being Jay Leno's and the shirt had to be redesigned, kicking off a series of mishaps and public Twitter meltdowns that continue to this day. Woliner has lost thousands of dollars on the shirt line in [...]

Aziz Ansari, Randy, and the Nebulous State of "Alt-Comedy"

This week's New Yorker features a lengthy profile of Aziz Ansari, talking about his place in the "alternative comedy" scene and the fine line between his Randy character from Funny People and his normal standup persona. It's only available online for subscribers, unfortunately. Here's a little taste: Sometimes it seems possible, too, that Randy might outlive Ansari. Randy recently released a hip-hop single, "Aaaaaaangry," that contained — brilliantly — no rapping at all; instead, Randy complained, at great length, that various hip-hop luminaries were ignoring him. "He's afraid it will eventually destroy him," Poehler says, mostly kidding. "I think he fights to make sure people don't think that's [...]

Inside 'Eagleheart's' Second Season with Creators Michael Koman, Andrew Weinberg, and Jason Woliner

Currently in the midst of its second season, Adult Swim’s 11-minute crime-comedy Eagleheart has quickly emerged as one of the fastest and funniest shows on TV. For the uninitiated, Eagleheart stars Chris Elliott, Maria Thayer (Strangers with Candy), and Brett Gelman (Comedy Bang Bang) as a trio of sociopathic U.S. Marshals who wind up in all kinds of exceedingly strange and hyper-violent scenarios week to week. Eagleheart is put out by Conan O’Brien’s production company and written by longtime Conan writers Michael Koman and Andrew Weinberg and Human Giant's Jason Woliner, who manage to cram a full 30 minutes worth of story into each 11-minute installment.

Eagleheart's second season [...]
