Vampires, Gangs, and Avian Puns with Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi

Jemaine Clement (of Flight of the Conchords fame) and Taika Waititi (director of Eagle vs Shark and Boy) have been friends since their college days. Despite initial reservations toward one another, the two became great friends through performing and continued together down the creative path. In 2005, they hatched the idea for a short about a group of vampires who share a house in Wellington, New Zealand. After filming the initial short, they spent the next eight years fleshing out the plot and the script in order to create the new and hilarious What We Do in the Shadows, slated for release this Friday in US theaters.

Here's the Trailer for Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi's Vampire Mockumentary 'What We Do in the Shadows'

Here's the trailer for What We Do in the Shadows directed by Taika Waititi and Flight of the Conchords' Jemaine Clement, who both worked together on the 2007 film Eagle vs Shark. What We Do in the Shadows follows three immortal roommates in what appears to be a delightful mashup of vampire movies, mockumentaries, and an episode of Real World. The film premiered at Sundance this year and will debut in New Zealand in June; it's still seeking a distributor for the US.

A Flight of the Conchords Tour Is in the Works for Late 2015

Good news for Flight of the Conchords fans: There's a possible tour in the works later this year. Speaking at the Sundance Film Festival, Jemaine Clement revealed the news that he and Bret McKenzie "are planning on touring later on in the year in the States. It isn't very solid yet, but we've been talking about it." Clement didn't give any more details aside from confirming that the tour will be all new material: "I really don't like the studio part of music. I more enjoy playing live and letting others take care of the recording." McKenzie also revealed last year that they landed a four-episode comedy [...]

A Flight of the Conchords Movie Is Possibly in the Works

It's Business Time! Bret McKenzie, post-Muppet -songwriting, said that he and Jemaine Clement are "going to try and do a movie." A Flight of the Conchords movie would be amazing, If You're Into It. And as long as You Don't Have to Be a Prostitute to go see it in theaters. Ooh, I hope they get Kristen Schaal to return as Mel (or some other Leggy Blonde), otherwise there might be Too Many Dicks (on the Dance Floor). Really, if it happens, this movie could be the Most Beautiful [Movie] (In the Room). Think About It. Foux Da Fa Fa.

HBO Has Ordered a Show from the Flight of the Conchords Guys

It's been nearly seven years since Flight of the Conchords left television, but according to Jemaine Clement, the musical comedy duo's break might be nearing its end. The Guardian recently interviewed Clement about his new vampire film What We Do in the Shadows, and when asked about any future plans with his Conchords partner Bret McKenzie he had this to say:

Are the Conchords, dormant at the moment, waiting to erupt again? “We talk about a movie every so often,” says Clement. “Sometimes it feels like we lost a lot of impetus over the last couple of years. But Bret, James [Bobin, lead director] and me, we [...]
