'SNL' Recap: Jeremy Renner's Strong Finish

Part of the genius of SNL's design is how effectively it underestimates its audience's patience. Despite the show's ongoing popularity, it's rare that all of its viewers stay tuned in until the goodbyes at 1 a.m. — "Our competition is sleep," one cast member once said. In the early years, Lorne adopted a strategy of front-loading the lineup with the stronger, more topical sketches, leaving the last half-hour (when even NBC's censor guy has stopped paying attention) for off-beat pieces, filler sketches in case the episode runs short, or sketches in which Fred Armisen sings.

Alec Baldwin Is Joining Adam McKay's Ferrell/Wahlberg Football Comedy

Looks like Alec Baldwin is joining what was formally known as The Turkey Bowl and is currently known as Three Mississippi as "Wahlberg’s father, a Kennedys-obsessed dive bar owner who pushes his family into an annual Thanksgiving football game with Ferrell’s clan across town, which they always lose." Also on board: Rob Riggle as Wahlberg's gay cousin and, apparently, Jeremy Renner. I am looking forward to all those boston accents!

Watch Jeremy Renner and Kenan Thompson Be Tough Guys in These 'SNL' Promos

Jeremy Renner is hosting SNL this weekend with musical guest Maroon 5, and here he is with long-serving cast member Kenan Thompson in a series of fun promos, most of which play off of the fact that he's an intense action star. Here's hoping he actually wears that crazy costume he's in at the end in a sketch sometime this weekend and as a disguise in the next Bourne movie.

Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Renner Are Hosting 'SNL' with Music from Rihanna and Maroon 5

Variety has guest info on SNL guests for next week and the following. November 10th's show will be hosted by Anne Hathaway with music from Battleship star Rihanna. Jeremy Renner, an Oscar nominee like Hathaway, will be hosting November 17th with musical guest Maroon 5. You know, those guys who wrote "Moves Like Jagger?"

This is the third time hosting SNL for Hathaway, who starred in this summer's superhero megahit The Dark Knight Rises and will next be seen in the movie adaptation of Les Misérables, which is set to score a bunch of shiny Hollywood awards this winter.
