Since truTV greenlighted Friends of the People, their new sketch comedy show set to anchor the network’s crossover into original comedic programming, the storyline that’s occasionally popped up is that the series’ inception came to fruition after the In Living Color reboot ultimately did not reboot. Jermaine Fowler Is Developing and Starring in a New Comedy for ABC

Last week it was announced that both ABC and Fox were developing autobiographical comedies based on the lives of Johnny Knoxville and Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo, and ABC has added yet another, this time from standup Jermaine Fowler. THR reports that the network has given a script commitment to an untitled project starring Fowler as "a college dropout who winds up living with his estranged grandmother, a former DC cop who provides the perfect mix of parenting, laughs and adventure that gets him off the couch and out into the world." truTV Orders a Sketch Comedy Show Starring The Lucas Brothers, Jermaine Fowler, and More

Reality show network truTV has greenlit its first-ever sketch comedy show. According to Deadline, the channel has ordered 10 episodes of Friends of the People, a blend of scripted sketches and man-on-the-street segments that will star The Lucas Brothers, Kevin Barnett (Guy Code), Josh Rabinowitz (I Just Want My Pants Back), and Jermaine Fowler, Jennifer Bartels, and Lil Rel Howery, who were attached to the In Living Color reboot. The cast will also write and executive produce (under Rabinowitz and Barnett as head writers), and The Pete Holmes Show's Neil Punsalan will serve as showrunner and director.
