Law & Order: SVU star Christopher Meloni has teamed up with Paramount for a new digital series set in a butcher shop called Beef, and you can check out the series trailer above. The mock reality show will follow Meloni's character Lou as he "acts as judge and jury for anyone in the neighborhood who has 'beef' with someone." 'How I Met Your Mother' Recap: "The Stamp Tramp"

The men of How I Met Your Mother are all nice, law abiding people, but they are definitely all flawed: Ted knows a lot of things about a lot of high brow subjects, but whenever he exhibits his knowledge he is an alienating, insufferable prick about it; Barney's childhood abandonment issues have led to a lifetime of overindulging on female flesh and crude, groan inducing sexual punnery; Marshall gives every human being the benefit of the doubt, even though he is a New York City resident, where it's a minor miracle that he doesn't get mugged every time he leaves the apartment.

Ted and Barney's issues are broader, and [...]

Kathryn Hahn Has So Much To Say About Joe Lo Truglio's Penis

There are some amazing shots of this particular penis. A really amazing one through car windows, squatting down, just the nuts, it’s pretty amazing. Sometimes the head just kind of enters the frame. It is definitely a character in the film.

And that's just the tip (heh) of Kathryn Hahn's opinions about Joe Lo Truglio's penis in Wanderlust. Fine, okay, that's pretty much all she says about it. Comedy cliques and why she always ends up working with Paul Rudd are interesting topics too, I GUESS. Just not quite as interesting as Joe Lo T's tinkle-tubule.

Wanderlust Trailer Plays Like a Beautiful Wet Hot/State Reunion

The trailer for Wanderlust is out and it features (in addition to stars Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston) Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio, Kerri Kenny-Silver, Kathryn Hahn, Justin Theroux and Alan Alda, all of them directed by David Wain. The whole thing looks kind of like a hippie-er version of Wet Hot American Summer, but co-produced by Judd Apatow. Who else watched this and now wants to immediately move to a commune with me?

Talking Wet Hot American Summer with Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino and David Wain

The AV Club has a downright-delightful interview with Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino and David Wain about making Wet Hot American Summer, which is coming up on its 10th anniversary. It's amazing to look back at that movie as one that made about $30,000 in theaters but stars some of the biggest names in comedy today. And man, does it ever still stand up.

Andy Samberg's Cop Show Keeps Sounding Better and Better – Joe Lo Truglio Joins the Cast

Joe Lo Truglio, of The State, Reno 911!, and Superbad fame, has been added to the cast of Andy Samberg's new Fox pilot, cementing its status as the most anticipated comedy pilot of 2013. Lo Truglio is the final series regular to join the untitled New York cop show, created by Parks and Recreation co-creator/showrunner Mike Schur and longtime Parks writer Dan Goor. He'll be playing Charles, a divorced veteran detective who looks up to top cop Jake (Samberg). The rest of the impressive cast is made up of Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris), Andre Braugher (Men of a Certain Age), stand-up Chelsea Peretti, and relative newcomers [...]

Talking to David Wain & Joe Lo Truglio About Theater, Constructing A Well-Made Play, and Achieving Cult Comedy Status

Since their time with the sprawling 90’s MTV sketch group The State, David Wain and Joe Lo Truglio have gone on to, respectively, direct and act in several successful films including Wanderlust, Role Models, and the cult classic Wet Hot American Summer. Yet, prior to gaining recognition on the big screen, the duo made a brief foray into the theater with their 1998 play, SEX (a.k.a Weiners and Boobs). Written along with fellow State member and Wain’s oft co-writer Michael Showalter, the play is an irreverent comedic romp, which in its original production starred the writers, and most notably, featured a scene from David Mamet’s GlenGarry Glen Ross that [...]

The Red Band Trailer for Wanderlust is Heavy on the "Lust"

The red band Wanderlust trailer is out, now with 100% more Joe Lo Truglio butt, goat-milking ejaculation analogies, and Paul Rudd giving himself a sex pep talk in the mirror. Whew. That's a lotta red band material. Hope they left some surprises for next Friday when the full movie comes out in theaters. Until then, let's all drink some strong tea with hallucinogenic properties and sit by the fire to wait.

Heaven, or the Wet Hot American Summer Set?

Forget Party Down and Arrested Development. After reading this oral history of the making of Wet Hot American Summer, I am throwing all my support behind a Wet Hot American Sequel. If only for the opportunity to drive up to the camp where it's being filmed and participate in what sounds like the most fun couple weeks anyone has ever had anywhere. As Amy Poehler described it, "We were being given the chance to take one more shot at summer camp, only we were wiser, better drinkers, and more sexually experienced."

Only read this article if you have the time and emotional stability to get really jealous and [...]

Watching The State's Revival of 'Sex a.k.a. Weiners and Boobs' at San Francisco Sketchfest

As as an uber-fan of the famed nineties sketch group The State, it delights me that several of the members have continued to collaborate over the last twenty years. In 1998, a few short years prior to the production of the comedic masterpiece Wet Hot American Summer, State members Michael Showalter, David Wain, and Joe Lo Truglio wrote and produced the play Sex a.k.a. Weiners and Boobs over the course of four days. Showalter, Wain, and Lo Truglio and a majority of the original cast reunited this past weekend during the San Francisco Sketchfest to perform the play for only the second (and perhaps the last) time.

As David [...]

Talking to Matt Walsh, Horatio Sanz, and Joe Lo Truglio, the Cast and Crew of the New Movie High Road

Next Tuesday sees the DVD release of High Road, a new improvised comedy written and directed by Matt Walsh. High Road's cast is filled to the brim with comedy heavyweights, including Rob Riggle, Joe Lo Truglio, Lizzy Caplan, Abby Elliott, Zach Woods, and James Pumphrey, with the likes of Ed Helms, Horatio Sanz, Andrew Daly, Curtis Gwinn, and Rich Fulcher making appearances, as well.  If a Guinness Worlds Record official had only made it to the set, Matt Walsh would easily have a "Most Funny People in One Movie" plaque on his wall for High Road right now.

I recently sat down with the cast and crew of the movie [...]

Wet Hot American Summer Has Been Recreated Ten Years Later

The cast of Wet Hot American Summer teamed up with some guest stars at San Francisco Sketchfest this week to perform the film as a live radio play and make everyone who wasn't there about as jealous as we were back when we read the oral history of the making of the film.

Most of the cast played their original roles, with the additions of David Wain as the narrator, Busy Phillips and David Cross in the parts originated by Janeane Garofalo and David Hyde Pierce, Bobcat Goldthwait as the can of vegetables, and Andy Richter, Gillian Jacobs, Jessi Klein and John Hodgman filling out various [...]

Free Agents Recap: "Pilot"

First things first: the protagonists of Free Agents, Alex (Hank Azaria) and Helen (Kathryn Hahn), two PR agents newly single after long-term relationships, are good 'n' charming. After being the funniest thing about How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days and Our Idiot Brother (and Anchorman, as the secretary who reveals that Ron Burgundy will read “a-ny-thin-guh” off a cue card), it’s about time Hahn gets to star in something. And obviously, I could listen to Hank Azaria name made-up sex positions for a few hours at least.
