The '21 Jump Street' Sequel Will Be Called '22 Jump Street'

Following in the tradition of sequel titles like Ocean's Twelve and The Whole Ten Yards, Sony announced in a press release yesterday that the follow-up to 21 Jump Street will be called 22 Jump Street. The previous movie, a remake of the '80s show of the same name, came out last spring and earned good reviews and a ton of money at the box office, a rare feat for a big-budget studio comedy these days. Sony began developing the sequel to 21 Jump Street last year, before the first movie even hit theaters. It was previously announced that Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube will be returning [...]

Watch the New Trailer for Seth Rogen and James Franco's Apocalypse Comedy 'This Is the End'

Here's Seth Rogen and James Franco introducing the new trailer for their apocalypse comedy This Is the End (previously titled End of the World), which comes out June 14th, 2013. It stars Rogen, Franco, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson as themselves facing the end of the world in Los Angeles. Rogen wrote and directed the movie with his longtime writing partner Evan Goldberg, and Michael Cera, Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Rihanna, Aziz Ansari, Mindy Kaling, Martin Starr, David Krumholtz, and Kevin Hart also appear as themselves. The trailer is being released this week to coincide with the Mayan-predicted apocalypse and features some jokes [...]

Exciting Castings! Jonah Hill Joining 'Django Unchained' & Jason Mantzoukas Joining 'They Came Together'

The cast for David Wain and Michael Showalter's romantic comedy parody (or moc-rom-com) They Came Together is filling out pretty awesomely with Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, and Max Greenfield already onboard. Now, The League's Jason Mantzoukas has been added to play Rudd's best friend, a perfect role for him to be the type of maniac we expect.

Also, it was announced that Jonah Hill will be joining the cast of the already in production Django Unchained. This is a bit odd considering its production is far enough along that the film already has a trailer (below). Previously, Hill had been eyed for a larger role [...]

The Lost Roles of Jonah Hill

Not only one of the best young comedic performers in Hollywood but also an accomplished writer, producer, and dramatic actor, Jonah Hill is a guy that wears a lot of hats. Still only in his 20s, Hill has already earned an Oscar nomination for his supporting turn in Moneyball. In that film, he pulled off the comedy-to-drama transition that has taken some of his peers decades to complete and eluded others. Jonah Hill also picks his projects wisely – the movies he stars in are consistently good and he’s mostly avoided starring in duds. Hill’s newest film, 21 Jump Street, which he wrote, produced and starred in, opens this [...]

SNL Recap: Jonah Hill Is A Funny Man

I’ll be honest: I was never a huge fan of Jonah Hill. As the films of Judd Apatow shifted to the center of the comedy universe, the resulting fame of Jonah Hill confused me. I admired Apatow for using his success to give opportunities to talented friends — hilarious yet average-looking guys like Seth Rogen and Jason Segel — who otherwise might have struggled with finding mainstream appeal. Hill struck me as the annoying kid brother of the pack: certainly funny and charming enough to roll with the big boys, but only tolerated because he’s part of the entourage.

That’s not to say I don’t enjoy Hill’s work. His [...]

'21 Jump Street 2' Set for a 2014 Release

Sony began prepping the sequel to 21 Jump Street before the first movie even hit theaters, and now, the studio has announced that 21 Jump Street 2 will be out in 2014. Sony revealed the info at CinemaCon yesterday with a logo for the sequel being included as part of the studio's 2014 slate. No specific date has been set for a release at this time, just the year. The original movie's writers, Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall, are also writing the new one, with Hill and Channing Tatum are expected to return as stars. 21 Jump Street's ending set up a sequel where the two main characters [...]

'The Watch' Wasn't Watched this Weekend

The Watch earned only $13 million this weekend, which is frankly pretty damn bad. It's exactly the same amount as what That's My Boy disappointedly earned its opening weekend. The Olympics might've hurt it a little but apparently it was tracking poorly as is. There just was no buzz surrounding the film. It probably didn't help that only three months ago the movie ending up changing its title out of respect to Trayvon Martin. However, ultimately, this movie had three of the type of stars that should be able to open a movie and none of them were able to woo America. Especially since by all accounts [...]

Summer Comedy Preview: Movies

We’re only a week into summer movie season, and it’s already overloaded with superheroes. More excitement is coming too, as Hollywood rolls out what are expected to be its biggest hits this time ever year. There's no shortage of comedies this summer, as Batman and Spider-man will be duking it out at the box office with the likes of Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, and, um, Wes Anderson.

What's in store for us comedy wise? The return of the Men in Black! A movie based on a pregnancy guidebook! A comedy based on a novel by Saddam Hussein! And a comedy that had to change its name because of the [...]

Jonah Hill Is Really Surprised That 21 Jump Street Is Funny

Jonah Hill seems legitimately shocked that 21 Jump Street is good and funny. It's a little disconcerting! But even more unsettling is the absolute MYSTERY he presents of going to sleep in boxers and waking up in a formal top half, dress shoes and no pants. Or as he amazingly calls it, Donald Ducking. Parts 2 and 3 of the interview below.

Jonah Hill Describes the Rest of Jump Street

After watching these SNL promos with Jonah Hill and Bill Hader, I absolutely want to move to Jump Street. It sounds like everyone there's just walking around holding freshly cut flowers, wearing stylish men's hats, drinking bubble tea. In other words, it is a paradise. Albeit one that is occasionally marred by young no-goodnik police officers training to impersonate high schoolers and sliding across the tops of cars and stuff.

Here's the New Trailer for Seth Rogen and James Franco's 'This Is the End'

Yesterday, Seth Rogen and company released a fake trailer for Pineapple Express 2 as an April Fool's Day gag, which ended up being a piece of actual promotion for their new apocalypse comedy This Is the End. Now, they've released an actual new trailer for This Is the End, a movie that Rogen co-wrote/co-directed that stars him, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson as themselves. Beware, the trailer's jam-packed with spoilers, revealing some major character deaths and other stuff too.

'21 Jump Street' to Start Heading Down Sequel Street this Fall

Sony has announced they're planning on shooting a sequel to 21 Jump Street (possibly titled "22 Jump Street: We Moved!") this fall. Jonah Hill will be back starring and co-writing the script with Michael Bacall. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will likely be back as well. Channing Tatum should be back but he's still an uncertainty because every time he leaves his house 200 women claw at his abs and squeeze his buns until he runs back inside.

Jason Segel, Emma Watson, and David Krumholtz Maybe to Die in James Franco's Apartment

Emma Watson, Jason Segel, and David Krumholtz are going to play themselves in Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg's End of the World, which used to be know as The Apocolypse and before that Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse. The three, along with the already announced crew of Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, and Aziz Ansari, are all guests at James Franco's house party when the apocalypse comes, which stinks because that means they aren't coming to my apocalypse party. The bright side is some of them are supposed to die, which I read to mean that ALL OF THEM WILL DIE but in a [...]

Jonah Hill Refuses to Compare 21 Jump Street to Never Been Kissed

Wait a second. Jonah Hill describes the central conceit of 21 Jump Street as "getting to relive the most important part of your youth, high school — and thinking you have all the answers, but realizing you have none of the answers," but he DOESN'T think the movie is comparable to Drew Barrymore's 1999 classic Never Been Kissed? Uh, did he miss the part of the movie where Josie Geller gets to enroll at South Glen South High School to relive her high school years, thinking she now knows enough to avoid being called Josie Grossie and getting stood up at the prom by Billy Prince, but finding [...]
