Adult Swim Renews Dan Harmon's 'Rick and Morty' for Season 2

Community creator Dan Harmon's new series, the animated Adult Swim sci-fi comedy Rick and Morty, has been renewed for a second season. Adult Swim has yet to confirm the renewal, but one of the writers who was added for Season 2, Matt Roller (Community), posted a picture of the show's Season 2 writing staff on Twitter earlier this week that has since been removed. There's no word on how many episodes the new season will be.

Co-created by Harmon and Justin Roiland and loosely based on Roiland's failed Channel 101 pilot and subsequent web series The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti, it's a Back to the Future-esque story about [...]

Dan Harmon's 'Rick and Morty' Premieres on Adult Swim on Dec. 2

Dan Harmon's long-awaited new half-hour animated sitcom, Rick and Morty, is set to debut on Adult Swim on Dec 2. The show, which Harmon created and executive produces with Justin Roiland, follows "a sociopathic scientist who drags his unintelligent grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe." The show is based on Roiland's Channel 101 shorts "The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti," which were themselves based on Back to the Future's Doc Brown and Marty McFly. The voice cast includes Roiland, Sarah Chalke, and Chris Parnell.

In an interview with Splitsider in February, Harmon described the show thusly:

I've got my Adult Swim show [Rick and Morty], [...]

Adult Swim Picks Up Dan Harmon's New Animated Show, Coming in 2014

We reported earlier this year that Dan Harmon created an Adult Swim pilot called Rick and Morty with his Channel 101 cohort Justin Roiland, but just this weekend, it was announced via Roiland's Twitter that Adult Swim has ordered the show to series. The first season order is for ten half-hour episodes that are expected to air in late 2013. Rick and Morty follows a genius inventor and his non-genius grandson and is based on Roiland's old Channel 101 shorts "The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti," which are based [...]

Talking to Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland About Their New Adult Swim Show, 'Rick and Morty'

During Dan Harmon's Community exodus last year, he went and created another TV show, this one for Adult Swim. Called Rick and Morty, the new animated series was co-created by Harmon and Justin Roiland, and it premieres tonight at 10:30.

Based on a rejected pilot Roiland made for Harmon's monthly video competition Channel 101 in 2006 called "The Real Adventures of Doc and Mharti," Rick and Morty is a Back to the Future-inspired sci-fi comedy about a sociopathic scientist and his grandson going on wild adventures. I recently had the chance to talk to Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland about how the new show came to be, how they [...]

Talking With 'Out There' Creator Ryan Quincy

This post is brought to you by Out There, premiering tonight at 10:30/9:30c on IFC.

He spent 12 years on South Park (he's featured in the behind-the-scenes documentary 6 Days to Air) and now he's taking his original characters to IFC in his new animated series Out There (which premieres tonight at 10:30/9:30c on IFC). I had a chance to chat with Quincy about the show, his "out there" character designs, and fainting in sex ed class.

Tell us what Out There is all about, and how it came to IFC.
