FX Orders Lawyer Sitcom Starring Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence

Yesterday evening, FX ordered a new untitled sitcom that stars Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence as a pair of mismatched Chicago lawyers. Like the network's Charlie Sheen vehicle, Anger Management, the Grammer/Lawrence show has been picked up for a first season consisting of 10 episodes and if those 10 episodes score high enough in the ratings, FX will order 90 more episodes to be produced over the next two years. Bob Boyett (Full House, Family Matters) and Robert Horn (Designing Women, Living Single) are serving as showrunners.

The official description of the show, which FX ordered to pilot in January, says it follows two "Chicago lawyers from vastly different [...]

Kelsey Grammer Explains the History of Sideshow Bob's Voice

This story has everything: Cheers lore, Simpsons lore, some old gay the audience never heard of. But CONAN!!! Why didn't you have him do the "getting hit in the face with a rake" noise? It is every Simpsons fan's favorite Sideshow Bob quote. Below watch him talk briefly about Frasier. It's interesting if you imagine it's not Kelsey talking to David Hyde Pierce but Bob talking with his brother Cecil.

Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence Are Trying to Make a Sitcom Together

Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence are developing  a new multi-camera sitcom together that they would both star in and produce, according to a recent news story posted on Deadline. Before you go and say that's a bad idea, you should know that the article mentions the two actors had a meeting with the studio in November in which they "showed great chemistry." You feel pretty silly now, don't you? The plan is to get a network to commit to 10 episodes of the untitled yet-to-be-written show, with an option to pick up 90 more if it's a hit, which is the model that Charlie Sheen's FX show Anger [...]

Oh, the Kelsey Grammar and John Lithgow Body Swap that Could've Been

"On Frasier, a network executive once suggested that one week we have John Lithgow play Frasier and Kelsey Grammar play Lithgow's role on 3rd Rock From the Sun; I've been deeply afraid of the idea of a crossover ever since." – Modern Family showrunner Christopher Lloyd on the brilliant ideas of 90s NBC Executives. They're both balding and pompous, so it's hard to say for sure this crossover didn't actually happen.

Say Goodbye to the Next Hour of Your Life with This Amazing 'Cheers' Oral History

"I hope and assume that every good comedy writer, no matter the age, has a moment where they discover how great Cheers is…And I would encourage any young person getting into comedy to sit down and watch it," says Amy Poehler, in the introduction to an amazing new oral history of Cheers that was just published today in GQ. Writer Brian Raftery interviewed nearly 40 cast members, writers, and producers from the classic sitcom, and also Cheers fans from the next generation of TV like Poehler, Modern Family co-creator Christopher Lloyd, and The Shield creator Shawn Ryan. It's a long, fun, and occasionally heartbreaking read at eight pages, [...]

Start High-Fiving a Million Angels to Celebrate 30 Rock's Return

It's really coming back! January 12 is less than a month away! And most of that month is going to be spent in a drunken holiday/New Year's Eve stupor, so it'll pass even more quickly! Looks like Kelsey Grammer will be returning to the show, which means the return of con artists The Best Friends Gang, perhaps with the new goal of uncovering Liz Lemon's mysterious secret. I bet it's that she missed us. Or that she's adopting a kid or something else relevant to the character that doesn't break the rules of our universe's television-reality divide.
